  1. Perhaps, but it may be a bit too early to tell, one way or the other (so keep those seatbelts fastened)…

Here’s a far more accurate and comprehensive explanation of what the Media (Mud-ia? Merde-ia?) is essentially concealing…and though it may not be required reading for Neo’s crowd it still contains a few essential reminders):

    “Rescuing Hezbollah: Inside France’s panic over Israel’s deepening incursion;
“France’s panic tells us less about humanitarian principle than about the enduring European compulsion to rescue failing actors from the consequences of their own aggression, particularly when Israel is the one delivering them“—
    https://www.israelnationalnews.com/news/428012

    Concluding grafs:

…The beneficiaries of this approach have included Hezbollah, Hamas, and various other organizations whose persistence the European diplomatic framework has inadvertently subsidized. The losers have consistently included the civilians on both sides who pay the cost when deterrence collapses…

France is not a neutral party deploying principled concern. It is a state with specific interests in Lebanese political arrangements that Israeli military success threatens to restructure. Calling that interest humanitarian does not make it so.

If Barrot and his colleagues were genuinely concerned about Lebanese welfare, they would be asking why Resolution 1701 was never enforced, who bears responsibility for allowing Hezbollah to rebuild at scale, and what diplomatic framework could actually prevent the next war rather than merely pause the current one. Those questions do not appear to be on the Security Council’s agenda. Rescuing Hezbollah from military defeat is.

  3. I have been looking forward to today’s election in California, but I know we need to be very patient. I’m sure ballots will still be “found” and counted for the coming week, perhaps two. Or at least until Bass has enough to be called the winner. But I’m still looking forward to the results.

  4. The UK’s future is NOW (of course we already know that—barring any Revolution, Glorious or Otherwise…):

“…Henry Nowak and the savagery of state wokeness.”—
    https://instapundit.com/800863/

    (Not just the UK’s.)

  5. Around 30 years ago, I was taking our laundry to the coin-op (thus getting everything done in a few hours in one day instead of stretching out continuously over the week). The laundromat had a couple of magazine subscriptions, one of which was Rolling Stone, with which I whiled away the wash and dry cycles. I knew of the magazine, but had never read it.
I didn’t care anything about the music and performer reviews, but it had some pretty decent reporting about current events, and even some historical ones (FWIW, I never noted anything by Matt Taibbi at the time).

One issue included the story of this song, one of the few that I did know because of the Disney animated film, and I still remember it. What made the greatest impression on me was that Pete Seeger actually did practice some of the tenets of social justice that he espoused (although it was not called that at the time): aiding the oppressed in real, practical ways.
IIRC, most of the other singers covering the music genuinely thought they were working with an anonymous African folk song; I don’t remember how Seeger found out it had a living author (Solomon died in 1962).

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solomon_Linda

In spite of the song’s immense fame, Linda’s family had earned very little in royalties,[17] and Linda himself had been all but forgotten.[19] At the turn of the century, Linda’s family was still desperately poor, living in “a tiny township house of three rooms, an outside toilet, and an asbestos roof without a ceiling.”[54] Five of his eight children had died.[55] Due to this,[56] in 2000, the South African journalist Rian Malan penned an essay for Rolling Stone which shed light on the origins of “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”.[57] He told the story of “Mbube”, its eventual rise to success, and the struggles faced by Linda’s daughters,[58] and concluded that “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” had earned some $15 million in royalties.[59]

Around 1951, Pete Seeger began demanding Linda receive his fair share of revenue from “Wimoweh”,[67] but it was only until two decades later that The Richmond Organization (TRO), which owned the rights to “Mbube”,[16] conceded some of the earnings to Linda’s family.

In 2004, Linda’s descendants sued Disney for $1.5 million for its use of “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” in The Lion King.[26][f][g] Their lawyer Owen Dean argued that, from 1991 to 2000, they received some $15,000 in royalties, while the song earned an estimated total of $15 million.[73] The case attracted global attention.[74] Before a trial could take place, however, the case was settled.[75] Abilene Music, which held the US copyright to “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”,[76] agreed to pay the family a lump sum representing royalties earned from 1987 onward[17] and grant them a share of future income until 2017.[74] The family’s lawyers expressed satisfaction at these concessions.[77] Furthermore, Linda received recognition for his work as well as a cowriting credit on “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”.[74] Nonetheless, the song continued stirring up legal conflict.[78] Since the Linda family’s settlement with Disney became void in 2017, they could not profit from the song’s use in the 2019 film The Lion King.[74]

If there is a textbook definition of “greed,” movie and music industry executives would head the list.

  6. A fitting video for the start of nuclear family month. For now, both Tennessee and Indiana celebrate it, but expect more states to join them.

  7. F, see this article about California efforts to speed up the ballot count.

    https://calmatters.org/politics/2026/06/primary-election-california-counting/

But this is the key point
“However, Jesse Salinas, Yolo County’s top elections official and the president of the California Association of Clerks and Elections Officials, said the new law doesn’t apply to the ballots that take the most time to count, including those filed by voters who registered on election day and those where a signature doesn’t match what’s on file. State law provides a weeks-long window for those questions to be addressed.
“I’m hearing these comments about ‘We should be done by the 13th day,’ — that’s legally not possible by state law,” he said. “

The Democrats still leave plenty of ways to steal elections.

  8. Surprise!
    (Jus’ kidding.)

It’s “Biden” corruption all the way down. Every which way you look.
    All of ‘em.
    Rotten to the core.

“EPA boss made criminal referrals alleging Democrats ‘self-dealing’ in lucrative green energy grants”—
    https://justthenews.com/accountability/waste-fraud-and-abuse/epa-boss-made-criminal-referrals-alleging-democrat-self

Just a few blurbs (of many):

…Zeldin said he has canceled or stopped about $29 billion in EPA grants – including one for $2 billion to a nonprofit tied to longtime Georgia Democrat election activist and failed gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams – after unmasking a series of pass-through groups used to route taxpayer monies to the politically connected.

“As you look through all of these pass-through entities, you’re seeing so many connections to former Obama and Biden administration officials and Democratic donors, people who were former Cabinet members, other high-ranking administration officials,” he said….

…Zeldin’s quest for accountability began in spring 2025 when his agency revealed that Biden rushed out $20 billion in the greenhouse gas reduction fund to be held in an account by the New York-based Citibank, with just eight nonprofits having the right to spend it….

    (That’s right! There’s a Stacey Abrams connection—another earth-shattering “surprise”!)

  9. Some good news for us Floridians. The legislature passed DeSantis’ amendment to raise the homestead exemption from $50k to $150k next year, then to $250k the year after. By the second year our taxes for our house would be cut in half. Only applies to non -school taxes. Now it goes for a general vote in November. Of course, the Democrats here are adamantly opposed. They do love taxes.

  10. physicsguy, that can be good news for us Floridians if we are in fact being “over taxed” for the benefits we receive or solicit from our government. But we also know TANSTAAFL.
I hope there are voices raised to confirm we are not throwing a baby out with the bath water.

For example, I saw a headline today about a plan by DeSantis to arrange for training the next generation of storm protection and recovery personnel. That sounds like good planning, so let’s hope the money for such “worthy” programs is not lost in the rush to buy our votes, like the SJW’s like to do.
And of course the art of politics is convincing people that the cause being supported is truly “worthy”. But few think long term of how it can grow to ugly proportions over time, or that perhaps a sunset and renewal mandate would be wise or justified as well.

Our state constitution seems to have a number of aspects that failed to achieve passage via the legislature, so special interests work up an amendment program and sell it that way. But once ensconced in the constitution, it becomes more difficult to undo a mistake.

  11. in re Trump and Iran:
Don Surber reminds us of “old news” from Trump 45, and what it now favorably portends.
Those who forget history are condemned to be doomscrolled by the media.

    https://donsurber.substack.com/p/trumps-coalition-of-the-gulf-states

Operation Epic Fury did not begin February 28. It began in Donald Trump’s first presidency when he made his first trip abroad landing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on May 20, 2017,

The king awarded the president the Collar of Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Arabia’s highest honor for a foreign leader, for strengthening bilateral ties.

Then Trump and his entourage flew directly to Tel Aviv without stopping in Cyprus making Air Force One the first and perhaps only aircraft to travel straight to Israel. The Saudis knew and didn’t care because they knew they had a trusted ally residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. I have no doubt the Arabs knew Trump briefed Bibi. In fact, Trump was their messenger boy. 🙂

After 8 years of Obama’s pro-terrorist call for an Arab Spring and his engagement with the Muslim Brotherhood Saudi Arabia and several other Gulf states had it with the USA. Egyptian President Nasser had banned the Muslim Brotherhood in 1954 for its terrorist activities including assassinations.

Saudi leaders were shocked and angered when Obama quickly called for Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to step down in early 2011. Obama accepted the election of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Mohamed Morsi as president.

Gulf states (especially Saudi Arabia and UAE) poured billions into supporting Egypt’s 2013 military coup that removed Morsi and backed the new regime under Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Under Obama, the USA was as trustworthy as a scorpion because Obama wanted a world of chaos, which would put the various isms in control.

Obama giving Iran $1.7 billion to finance terrorism did not help ease tensions because Obama loved to flip the bird at those who won’t accept the new Marxist world order.

Trump’s task and purpose in Saudi Arabia was to [attend] the inauguration of the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology—an alliance of Muslims who oppose terrorism.

In a darkened room filled with computer screens (part of the new center’s high-tech monitoring setup), President Trump, Saudi King Salman, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and First Lady Melania Trump placed their hands on the volleyball-sized, translucent glowing orb.

The press and the late-night hosts tried to mock the orb because deep inside, they knew Trump changed the world that night.

Earlier, at [as] our favorite president addressed Arab leaders at the Arab Islamic American Summit:

“We are not here to lecture—we are not here to tell other people how to live, what to do, who to be, or how to worship. Instead, we are here to offer partnership – based on shared interests and values – to pursue a better future for us all.”

“This is not a battle between different faiths, different sects, or different civilizations. This is a battle between barbaric criminals who seek to obliterate human life, and decent people of all religions who seek to protect it. This is a battle between Good and Evil.”

“A better future is only possible if your nations drive out the terrorists and extremists. Drive. Them. Out. DRIVE THEM OUT of your places of worship. DRIVE THEM OUT of your communities. DRIVE THEM OUT of your holy land, and DRIVE THEM OUT OF THIS EARTH.”

“America is prepared to stand with you, but the nations of the Middle East cannot wait for American power to crush this enemy for them. Muslim nations must be willing to take on the burden.”

What is the result of all this?

Well, I have noticed that since then the USA under Trump has unalived many a terrorist leader, including General Soleimani, without a pip from Arabian nations. Iran is not an Arab state.

And of course, the six major Gulf states—Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Oman—host U.S. military personnel and operations.

I state all this in light of a tweet by Newt Gingrich, which said:

“After spending this week reviewing the Iranian war I am now convinced President Trump is on the edge of an historic victory. The real breakthrough for me came as I reviewed President Trump’s decisions and maneuvers not from the standpoint of American unilateralism but from the standpoint of the leader of a remarkable historic coalition, the largest coalition ever put together in the modern Middle East.”

Don quoted Gingrich in an earlier post as well.

The Muslims in the Gulf States may not object to eventually conquering the Dar al-Harb, but terrorism is bad for the bottom line.

  12. Here’s something wild. A young, attractive, 25 year-old Japanese woman and university graduate tried her hand at the corporate life and rejected it. (Asian corporate life is often 45-70+ hours/week.)

She spends her days wandering the city. At night she rents a tiny room at an internet café where she is allowed to shower and sleep.

I wonder how that works out in the long term.

  13. Graham Platner is a commie rotter, but I agree with his 2013 Reddit post “How about people just take some responsibility for themselves and not get so [intoxicated] they wind up having sex with someone they don’t mean to?”
    = = = = = = = =
I didn’t watch huxley’s video, but there must be a better plan the Japanese lady can make for her life!

  14. It’s almost impossible to tell what is happening behind the jaw-jaw in Iran.
This morning at about 11, Trump was still talking about negotiations.
    https://townhall.com/tipsheet/jeff-charles/2026/06/02/marco-rubio-just-threw-down-the-gauntlet-with-iran-n2677087

Iranian state media reported on Monday that the regime has halted its indirect peace talks with the United States. The regime cited Israel’s recent military strikes in Lebanon against Hezbollah, a terrorist group Tehran supports. Iran claims these strikes violate the ceasefire agreement, according to NBC News.

The regime has stopped sending messages to U.S. officials until Israel stops its military action against the terrorist organization. This happened as both sides were working to extend the the ceasefire that was established in April.

President Donald Trump has pushed back on claims that the talks were halted and said discussions are still ongoing. In a post on Truth Social, the president insisted that Iran wants to come to an agreement that would result in the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and limits on its nuclear program. He also told NBC News that he had not received messages from the regime about suspending talks.

At 2:15, we got this news.
    https://townhall.com/tipsheet/jeff-charles/2026/06/02/trump-just-blew-up-the-medias-narrative-on-iran-with-a-single-post-n2677100

In a post on Truth Social, the president wrote, “Fake News Reports that the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the U.S.A., stopped speaking a few days ago are false and erroneous.”

Trump’s comments come after Iranian state media claimed Tehran suspended talks with U.S. officials to protest Israel’s expanding military offensive against Hezbollah, an Iran-backed terrorist group operating in Lebanon.

Trump previously told CNBC, “I don’t care if they’re over, honestly. I really don’t care. I couldn’t care less.”

But I’m guessing the cease fire is now over.

I wonder if Trump was waiting for something like this so he could claim that Iran ended the negotiations despite his own efforts, and then he can start a new round of kinetic “defense” actions.

Early morning post Wednesday is a good summary of the situation, and the alternatives at hand.

  16. Sorry for the double post. (Isn’t the system supposed to prevent these?)
