Another update on my ex
The roller coaster ride continues.
I never liked roller coaster rides very much.
This morning the hospital called saying my ex had a big respiratory crisis and the doctor started asking me a bunch of end-of-life questions. I raced over to the hospital but by the time I arrived the crisis had abated, and he was back to merely being extremely sick.
So here I am, pecking this out on my cellphone. He is sleeping now, which is good, so I may try to crank out some posts and/or polish a draft. Forgive typos and errors- it’s much harder to proofread on a phone.

Oh! That must have been so frightening! I guess sometimes dr’s are just focused on what’s at hand and don’t stop to think the effect their words might have on family members or close friends. Oy! Thinking of you and what you are going through. It does indeed sound like a major roller coaster ride. I never liked them at all! Thinking of you and sending prayers.
He is so lucky to still have you. Please care for yourself as well.

Yes, and so far the palliative care doctors have been the worse, relentlessly negative as well as wrong about some of their facts. I don’t want to talk to them anymore; I prefer to talk to the regular doctors, the nurses, and the respiratory therapists.
I hope there is someone caring for you as well in these trying times. Let’s hope for the best.

Thanks. I do have a couple of friends I talk to a lot. But that only goes so far.
And my brother and sister-in-law are coming this weekend. My son and his family were here for a few days. But people have to get back to their jobs, their schools, their families. I’m basically on my own.

I would not expect much, if any, empathy from Big Medicine. Hospital systems these days are huge complex corporations whose (like it or not) primary motivation is their financial bottom line. They have highly-paid legal connections to defend them. They do not like lawsuits, for many reasons, one being a threat to their accreditation. Doctors and other medical personnel are de facto employees of the huge corporations. The whole huge system becomes one in which most participants’ overriding concern is to stay under the radar, avoid blame, and keep their jobs.
The left’s goal is to take over all major systems and institutions, with the ultimate goal of completely controlling them via the federal government which they also completely control. “Dehumanize everything. People are just a means to an end.”
Of course I am generalizing, and there are some exceptions, but this is just a big chunk of the world we live in now.
I don’t mean to be negative, but I do want to be conscious of the big picture.

is the right thing to do,
and something to be proud of.
