One year ago today Charlie Kirk was assassinated
And what a shock it was, and what a year it’s been.
Instead of uniting the right, it seems to have divided it. Perhaps Kirk was the glue holding it together, and his absence allowed divisive forces on the right (or forces pretending to be on the right) to come forward with the aim of splitting the right and gaining more power for themselves. Makes sense to me.
A sad event with a sad sequel.

Watching his Q&A on campuses gives me an idea why he was so hated by the left. The liberals are invited to ask a question or make a challenging statement. Only the most convinced and motivated will take the challenge. And what they have is usually about one sentence deeper than a slogan. And Kirk disassembles it with facts and logic. Easily. The kid never seems to e convinced and just goes away mad.
The effect, the Big Deal, is among the hundreds of students watching who are invited, more or less, to say…. “Why didn’t they tell us that?” “We keep hearing that all the time but not the basis.” :Another half hour on the books and I might have known that.” “You mean THAT”s what really happened!?” IOW, spreading doubt among the wathers there and some multiple on social media about the left-wing doctrines they’re being fed without qualification all their school experience. THAT, I suggest, is why the left was apoplectic about Kirk. Took the lid off their work and did it easily..
The Left, it must be said, is utterly relentless in its assault on American decency. I fear for the future, since the essential Truths and Wisdoms of the Right are drowned out by the supremacy of the Leftist MSM. Which intends eternal supremacy, quelling all reasoned opposition. There is an analogy to Clancy drowning her 3 children: The MSM drowns the Truth.

Societies that embrace subjective morality have no objective basis for societal cohesion. Political parties are equally subject to that societal dynamic. The democrat party is being eaten by the dysfunctional creature it has birthed. Yet that creature implicitly rejects reality itself and that way lies madness.

The mess of neverending lawfare (– including constant stall tactics in the Kirk murder trial), plus all things anti-Trump, and of course the slow-slog in Iran affairs, seemed to me to put a few years between Kirk’s murder and today.
Time passage is mysterious.
I was watching that event when he was assassinated. Not sure what was worse, my shock that we had sunk to that level in this country, or that it didn’t surprise me, given the level of hatred and evil on the left.
