Maybe it’s time I pushed a few products here, for a change
I keep forgetting to sell things.
But every now and then I remember: money! Amazon! And not just at Christmastime. After all, people have birthdays and stuff like that all year round. So why not get a present or two through neo-neocon’s Amazon portal?
Click on this puppy if you have Ad Blocker (a link is also in “Categories” under “Amazon orders” on the right sidebar). If you don’t have Ad Blocker, towards the top of the right sidebar you’ll see a main Amazon widget, with some more specialized ones if you scroll down, any of which you can click on to get to Amazon and order.
But enough of logistics. I’m here to tell you about—Tangoes!!
No, not the dance, and my abysmal failure at learning it.
It doesn’t look like much, and it’s very inexpensive (the latter’s a feature, not a bug). But for any child who likes spatial puzzles it is one of the very very best. It’s recommended for over 5 years old, although it depends on the child as to whether they’ll be ready for it yet at that age. My own son used to adore it, and it was good for the airplane.
Adults like it too. I sure did.
Never heard of it but I’m taking you at your word neo and Ive put it on my Amazon wish list for the day when my daughter presents me with a grandchild. They’re getting married this Nov. and they’re very methodical in pursuing their goals, so it’ll be a few more years. Unless of course Murphy’s law raises its head 😉
Geoffrey Britain:
Congratulations!!
The toy is definitely not for a younger child who would be inclined to put the pieces in his/her mouth. But otherwise it’s really clever and simple at the same time, and very light in weight and small in size for mailing and/or traveling.
Ah yes, Tangrams. Definitely worth some time.
And no, not for younger children.
IIRC, Tangrams were originally Chinese.
If you really want to help Neo, buy this e-book through her Amazon portal: http://www.amazon.com/The-Search-Bryant-Hunter-ebook/dp/B00DFSACCK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1374263052&sr=8-1&keywords=the+search+for+bryant+hunter
You won’t be disappointed, and Neo will have more $ to continue this wonderful blog!
Does that make “Spambot of the Day,” Neo?
Even though I’m not really a bot, just a shameless struggling author?
The Japanese had some interesting wolves and sheep puzzles (quiz books) that were based on logical exclusions and objectives.
Although they didn’t have Grossman’s sheepdogs in the lexicon (yet).
I don’t have any young ones to get the puzzle for, but I did just order some thing for my brother over your link.
I have a Tangrams/Tango set. They are challenging enough for adults, believe you me.
Actually grew up with a Tango set. For some reason, I could never really predict how long it would take to puzzle out the solution to the next card, even when I’d been doing it for years.
