How Fairfax County teaches young people about 9/11 — 24 Comments

  1. Fairfax County is heavily democrat in political affiliation and the home of a huge contingent of federal employees. So you would expect the school district officials to be largely, if not exclusively democrat party members. Democrats are among the most NIMBY of all; they love them some illegal migrants, just don’t put them in their neighborhood.

  2. The country has many enemies. Among them are (1) schoolteachers, (2) school administrators, and (3) ed school faculty.

  3. neo’s link has an excerpted page from the guide distributed to teachers. The first item on that page says,

    Do:
Spend time familiarizing yourself with the complexity of 9/11 and leverage a critical lens with students

Mixed metaphors anyone? Ya gotta give it to the lefties on the creative use of English.

Who uses a such a phrase? When you are instructing or issuing a guide, which is a type of instruction, you usually want make contact with things that are somewhat familiar to the intended audience.

A friend of mine who is something of an expert on nonlinear dynamics, and nonlinear acoustics and oscillators, and also is a conservative and observer of political commentary, once remarked: The pundits are now all talking about how this or that “resonates” with me or with some group. “Have we all become tuning forks?”

That sentence from the guide makes me think of a cartoon with a schoolmarm wagging her finger critically while pushing on a big lever arm with a giant lens on the other end. The lens is focused on an image of bin Laden.

  4. My daughter lives in Fairfax County, and has to keep her mouth shut frequently. Colleagues don’t even consider the possibility that a conservative might be within hearing distance.

  5. “How Fairfax County indoctrinates young people about 9/11”

There, I fixed it for you.

    Thank you, Neo.

  6. An awful lotta forgot “never forget.” I am very, very saddened.

Orwell lives; the rewriting of history continues apace with nary a concerted effort, because the masses happily see to it themselves.

In another generation or two, will it be MAGAphiles who felled the twin towers?

  8. Kate and Art deco:
Most Americans don’t know that the Federal bureaocracy is 90+% staunch Democrats. And Democrats hire other Democrats. My son had a snootful of that when working at the “left-center” Brookings Institution 20 years ago.
America is no longer a Republic. It is an oligarchy of Democrats. They control the levers of power, irreversably I fear. It was a great America when I was a kid in the ’50s and the population was 150 million, 95%white (!). Now it’s in thrall to melanin, the more the better, with more than 330 million. And whitey will be a minority in another few years. So goes our culture.

  9. And yet Cicero it was a black man that wouldn’t cave to the nine AWFLs in Plymouth. I want no part of their “white” culture.

  10. “We thought we were going “over there so we don’t have to fight them here” to change terrorist supporting nations to be more Western. Instead, while we invaded the world, we invited and enabled terrorist supporters to come here to change Western nations.”

The founders pushed this problem back for 200 yrs after trying and failing to negotiate with them. Our leaders have learned the wrong lesson.

  11. I was in Fairfax County primary schools back in the late 70’s / early 80’s. Diverse population, as would be expected for the suburbs around the US capital. We had legitimately zero of this “other cultures are not only worthy of respect but better than yours” nonsense. We were still doing the Pledge of Allegiance well into sixth grade.

  12. Someone I worked with years ago has apparently co-authored a teaching module on 9/11 for “progressive” home schoolers. I am curious how it treats 9/11 but not enough to spend the $10 to buy it. I know her spiel included a reference to “post 9/11 Islamophobia” and “Decades in the Making — Decades of Consequences” and since she’s a real crazy lefty, I can kind of guess what that means: essentially, it was America’s fault.

I will bet you there is NO mention of the Grand Mosque Seizure, or the Muslim Brotherhood. And if Mossadegh is mentioned at all, it’s the lefty spin on that episode, and this very inaccurate.

(She married a guy who makes a bundle and they travel all over the place. Even to places where it really probably isn’t a good idea to travel in general, much less with a kid.)

On a both unrelated note: check out Bill Maher on the 25th Anniversary of 9/11:

  13. 30 years ago there basically were few home schooled and few charter schools

Since then – school choice grows state by state so now enrollment looks like:

    Private schools – 5 million
    Home schooled – 4 million
    Charter schools – 4 million
Magnet and other – 4 million

As Lenin was fond of saying, “The people (Serfs) are voting with their feet.”

Fairfax just guarantees the continuance of this trend

  14. Art Deco:
Happened to me. Working for Fed agency near DC. Known Trump supporter in 90%+ Biden region. “Laid off” right after the 2020 election results certified.

Funny thing: that agency had Obama photos everywhere during his administration; it was unofficially not allowed to have Trump photos during his first administration – but Obama pictures remained.
