Things heat up with Iran
There’s a new wave of US attacks on Iran, in retaliation for Iran’s recently firing on ships in the Strait:
The U.S. strikes are in response to Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels that were transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s demonstrated aggression was unwarranted, dangerous, and a clear violation of the ceasefire.
What’s more, there’s this:
President Trump is officially REVOKING the US license that allowed Iran to sell their oil, after the mullahs STRUCK vessels in the Strait of Hormuz — Reuters
The US says Iran’s actions WILL be met with consequences.
How does that get enforced? Does the US once again block Iranian ships from leaving the country and getting through the Stait?
I think the oil sanction mostly works through Treasury banking controls, but I’m no expert.

I assume the Congressional authorization clock has now been reset. Oil will go back up and the stock market down, but I suspect this next round of military action will be quicker. The Ds will switch back to “He’s a war monger” status. So predictable.

Good on Trump if he is resuming hostilities, but, as neo notes, that’s going to be terrible for the mid-terms.
I think Trump’s options right now are take the Lando Calrissian deal from the Iranians, or start bombing again. Starting the bombing again may well be the least bad option. It might even make Trump look better that he gave the “diplomatic” solution such an extended try.
I think between the 90-day War Powers issue, the World Cup, and America 250; Trump was just keeping things cool for a while. Now that the big festivities are over, it is game on.
