Vance Boelter, the Minnesota killer, taken into custody
He was taken alive, which surprises me:
Vance Boelter was arrested Sunday evening in a field near Green Isle in Ramsey County, only about nine miles away from one of the shootings. Boelter was wearing dark clothing, had a backpack, and was seen near a home. He began running towards the woods and later gave up. The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest in a Facebook post along with a picture of Boelter in custody-
“The face of evil. After relentless and determined police work, the killer is now in custody. Thanks to the dedication of multiple agencies working together along with support from the community, justice is one step closer.“
The police know more about his motives than we’ve heard so far – or may ever hear – because they have found some of his writings. My sense is that he fits the pattern of recent assassins, which is that his politics don’t fit neatly into any category, and he’s just a strange guy who snapped for some reason. Apparently he’s anti-abortion, but being anti-abortion doesn’t mean a person goes on a killing spree in the wee hours of the morning.
It’s good that they caught him, and I bet a lot of Minnesota politicians are breathing easier as a result.
ADDENDUM:
Much more about Boelner’s supposed hit list can be found here.
Can they stop blaming Trump, MAGA and Rep for violent speech now? Another in a long line of Dems that are doing violence.
Has Waltz called for more gun control yet? Or other Dems?
Democrats have no problem with murdering their political opponents. Remember what Stalin said, “no man, no problem”.
To me the pattern seems to be that deeply mentally unstable individuals tend to get all spun up and overstimulated during times of political strife and violence. They’ll latch on to ideas and causes that they find romantic or crucial, and it’s irrelevant if one cause contradicts another or if there’s no discernible logic to whatever political beliefs the may espouse in some manifesto or shrieked at the top of their lungs.
So this sort of phenomena is a byproduct of an environment of extreme political tension. Right now we have all these fiery rallies, vandalism, and videos of clashes between protestors and police being spread all over social media. All these things can seems so important, dire, and exciting to certain mentalities. As long as environment of tension continues, it’s likely that we’ll also get more of these sorts of attacks perpetrated by disturbed individuals.
Why do these idiots run? Too much TV I guess. They are not going to get away in the 21st century. They might as well save their energy and give up at the scene.
So nut job. Also typo “stange guy”.
I think Nonapod has precisely nailed what is happening. I see my lefty acquaintances border on going over the edge in their hatred, but the rest of what occurs in their lives seems to keep them grounded. One of whom however, I could easily see snapping. So the political tension which exists, and is encouraged by the Democratic leadership, will eventually bring to fruition those who already are mentally unstable.
Dem leadership is treading water while they decide if/how to use this to attack Trump. They will of course give in to the only course of action they really believe in!
Agree with Nonapod – the unstable are spun up by what they see in the media and online, and their moorings to real life aren’t strong enough to keep them from snapping.

Agree with Nonapod. Unfortunately, in this highly-charged atmosphere, we may see more of these independent unhinged actions.
Miguel’s link has lots of interesting information on this shooter. No obvious means of support, but a substantial rural property and a wife and five children, although how many live with the family is not clear.
@Kate:but a substantial rural property and a wife and five children
Not to mention overseas travel and a bunch of guns and LEO-style equipment… and his rural property has to be costing something like $25K annually for the mortgage and what not (unless he paid cash, which would ALSO have to be explained.)
Short version?
Which Democratic Party slush fund AND/OR foreign actor has been keeping this perp’s (and his wayward wife’s) head above water?
Chases Eagles:
Thanks, will fix.
Not exactly the “full list” until proven so.

The story Neo linked to at the top is from a NE Minnesota FM radio station—KROX, The Voice of the Valley. It does not appear to be a reporter’s work, and is inaccurate at times. Most glaring: the suspect was arrested in Sibley County (not Ramsey) about an hour from Brooklyn Park (not nine miles) where he allegedly did the four shootings.
I mentioned yesterday in another thread here that my MN legislator, two doors south of me, had had a police officer in a marked car watching the house. The officer is gone now, of course. But I notice that my legislator is not on Boelter’s list! Abundance of caution, I guess….
I read on X that Scott Johnson’s (of Power Line) cousin, Dean Phillips, who tried to run against Biden for the 2024 Dem nomination, says he was on the list. I don’t see him either.
