Qatar and the Empire State Building — 4 Comments

  1. “raises questions about the propriety of having not-quite-friendly states owning a piece of American landmarks.”

I’m worried about some of the Americans “owning” American landmarks.

“The acquisition of @U_S_Steel by a foreign company is wrong for workers and wrong for Pennsylvania. I’m gonna do everything I can to block it.”

Not the Bee’s story on the monument is good too.

“Rossie Alston, a Trump-nominated judge, just issued a temporary block on the removal of a “Confederate” monument. I look forward to the media telling us how this is racist! “

  2. They can’t take the property with them. This is a non-issue. It’s the ownership of politicians that bothers me!

  3. Geoffrey, seems to me the Qataris are as close to amoral as one can get. Not necessarily on the Iranian’s side, and certainly not on the Israelis side, but there’s profit to be made by being the neutral broker while stirring up the conflict they’re willing to broker.

Kind of like the mob, “Nice little state you’ve got there. Be a shame if you can’t keep it.”
