Winter is coming, conservatives think we should make preparation to survive the winter and wait for spring to come again. Liberals think the spring after winter will never come and we should spend all the resources we have to engage an impossible mission of destroying the winter altogether.
And the liberal grasshoppers are beating down the doors so they can move in with the prudent conservative ants.
Thanks for the link to the Forbes piece. As you say, a very positive take on the legislation.
One thing he said puzzles me.
Virtually every study of the matter has found that private insurance results in better health outcomes than Medicaid.
Is this a result of the economic status– welfare vs. working poor?
Or is it a function of the quality of healthcare workers willing to take Medicaid patients?
My experience informs me that the closer to the problem the solutions are, the more likely they will be efficient in the use of resources.
Which is why liberals hate block grants. They prefer the top down model, in the name of fairness and equality.
The idea of blue state single payer plans, if they choose, seems like a reasonable compromise for most people, but not for liberals. They will only be satisfied when everyone is receiving the same marginally adequate care.
I read the Avik Roy piece you linked to and he seems skeptical that the CBO scoring will improve the chances of passage. Apparently the only legislation that will save the country, at least to the CBO, is Medicare for all.

That’s how we got sold this bill of goods in the first place: a string of emotional appeals pushed by a celebrity president and a bully — “we have to pass this bill to find out what’s in it” — in the pulpit.
I feel nothing but contempt for the Dems and their Obamacare. Our daughter has had to live with it for four years now. Premiums, deductibles and co-pays through the roof. She makes too much money to get a subsidy, but just barely. She has only one choice of providers – a sub par HMO. She is considering going without insurance next year, but that fills me with dread. What if some drunk hits her on the highway? She’d be in debt forever to pay the bills.
There has got to be a better way. This bill may cut Medicaid some for the 9 million people on Obamacare Medicaid, but those states that want to will find a way to provide for the Medicaid population. In the meantime, this bill appears it will provide some relief for the 11 million people who have individual insurance through Obamacare. That is not nothing. Especially if it helps our daughter.
The intent of O care is this.
