Very interesting and nice video. Thank you, Neoneocon, for presenting it. I am a lover of books and reading.
I always wonder how a person winds up in a career like that. It doesn’t seem to be the sort of thing that fills college classes.
Still, I imagine such a job, working with books throughout history, would be fascinating.
Wonderful!!
Like an old couple coming back together after so many years . . . . what a lovely thought.
Two important, truly worthy American authors. They were intoxicated with America, both with what they had in common and with where they followed their own path through the philosophical wilderness of existence. The Great American Experiment embraces multitudes.
Whenever I am reminded of Whitman, I think of the poem he wrote to me, where he talks directly to the person in the future who would be reading the words he was writing at that moment. I always imagine him sitting across from me with laughing eyes.
Yes, that is the poem, that you had in the post. If people are curious, they should follow your link above. Your whole post is, as usual, worth reading.
I read this poem when I was a child, and I was excited, because I felt that he was writing to me. Of course, he was writing to all who would seek him out, but it was unlike any other poem I’d read.
Poetry, at its best, is so moving and wonderful that I wish everyone could feel the emotions evoked.
Thanks for writing about poetry, and about books, and ballet, and things that strike you as interesting.

Thanks, Neo!
Minta Marie Morze:
You’re welcome!
