Here’s the recipe: take a religious group that’s lived in your country for millennia, longer than Islam has been in existence. Kill some, threaten the rest, and soon you’ll soon have your country to yourself, free of the tainted influence.
Iraq did it to its Jews during the 1940s and 1950s, and now ISIS is doing it to the country’s Christians who have lived there for six thousand years (first as Assyrians, and then as Assyrian Christians at the dawn of Christianity).
The Western world should be proclaiming its outrage far and wide. But the Western world has defanged itself, and sits wasted and weary.

I suspect that had they the unchecked power, many on the left in America would do the same thing to Christian Americans. Many atheists and ‘secularists’ hold a virulent hate in their hearts, especially toward Christians. Many of them hate all religion claiming it to be the source of all intolerance and conflict.

I agree with those who say that the left is happy to see the Christians destroyed. The left and Islam are natural allies since they are both totalitarian ideologies which share many common goals. Once Islam is victorious, the lefties will submit to Islam without much resistance.
If lefties are even given the chance to submit.
Don’t forget the example of what happened to the members of the Iranian communist Tudeh Party. They helped overthrow the Shah in 1978-79 and supported Khomeini taking power. Once in power, Khomeini had the communists put up against a wall and shot.
No one can ever accuse lefties of knowing, much less studying, History.

Saw an article about the NYT coverage of the Gaza affair. All pictures of Gaza are of devastation and civilian misery. All pictures of Israel are of tanks and soldiers. We are not sitting here defanged, we are complicit in the destruction of the middle east.

The Marxist Left and Islam are both totalitarian ideologies and are indeed ‘natural allies’… as long as the Western Right presents the greater obstacle to their essentially identical agendas.
But those who imagine that Islam will be victorious, in a conflict with the lefties have IMO fallen for the left’s propaganda; the ivory tower, gullible, bleeding heart liberal… that the left promotes as its public face.
Anyone that imagines that Putin, the ChiCom leadership and the Rahm Emanuels and Bill Ayers of the world will “submit to Islam without much resistance” is, IMO gravely mistaken. Any ‘movement’ responsible for the deaths of 100 million+ human beings in just one century… is NOT going to ‘readily’ submit.
There’s also a pragmatic reason why Islam cannot win a fight to the death with the Left, they lack the logistical resources to do so.

Your point that Marxists are ruthless is well taken. I also agree that the individuals you mentioned will not easily submit to Islam. Your best examples are not Western leftists who have added race warfare to Marx’s economic warfare as drivers of human behavior. This is why they construe anti-Islamism as racism.
I see Putin as a nationalist leader in the traditional sense who intends to rebuild his Russian society around the Eastern Orthodox Church not around Marxist ideology. From conversations with friends who have lived in modern China, it appears the Chicoms have not bought into the Western Leftist’s rejection of racism. If they are Marxists at all, the Chicoms might be called pragmatic leftists who have deviated from Marxism by embracing Chinese nationalism which then leads them to embrace free market capitalism. I agree with your argument that to the extent that the Chicoms are still Marxist they are the best hope that leftists will resist Islam.
Whether the American individuals you mentioned will fight against submission to Islam is questionable. Rahm Emanuel probably realizes that Jews will be eliminated with Christians so perhaps he would resist out of self interest. I’m not so sure about Ayers.

I may be mistaken but IMO, Western hard core Marxist leftists have added race warfare to Marx’s economic warfare primarily because it is a useful tactic in de-legitimatizing the Right. NOT because they actually buy into the concept, though it certainly serves their purposes. Of course repeat a lie often enough and it starts to take on a life of its own.
Putin is an opportunist and a survivor, so when the Soviet Union collapsed he moved on to greener pastures. That required Putin to become a nationalistic leader. But while you can take a former KGB agent out of the KGB, you can’t take the KGB out of an agent who never rejected what the KGB stood for… Putin’s apparent rebuilding of Russian society around the Eastern Orthodox Church is a useful cover and political tactic. Putin is however an advocate of the “Eurasian strategy”.
IMO, most people dismiss the above possibility because contemplating the full array of global forces confronting America is too daunting for serious consideration. It’s too easy to assign it all to paranoia, “to enemies everywhere!”
Historically, Chinese culture is one of the most racist to ever exist. Nor do they have the Judeo/Christian tenet that all of mankind are God’s children to counter-act that racism. China is still a one party State, proof positive that the communists rule as strongly as ever. They are pragmatic leftists who have seized upon capitalism as a means of competing with and destroying the Capitalistic West. Communism’s most basic tenet is that mankind’s economic ills are the result of capitalism. The ChiCom leadership are communists, NOT capitalistic businessmen.
Rahm Emanuel undoubtedly knows how Islam views unconverted Jews. As for Ayers, he has never denounced the famous ‘estimate’ that in the 1960’s, 25 MILLION Americans would prove too resistant to re-education and would have to be exterminated. Should he gain the power, such a man will not hesitate to exterminate Islam.

Since I don’t have Bush’s ability to look into Putin’s eyes and to read his soul, I have no way to refute your statement that Putin’s support of the Orthodox Church is not genuine. His inner motivation may not matter as much as his open support of the Orthodox Church. Probably much of the support for the Christian church by political leaders in Western Europe and the Byzantine Empire was for political expedience.
The link to Olavo de Carvalho is interesting and scary. According to the book Eurabia by Bat Ye’or the European leaders who are supposed to be our allies have bought onto the project by merging Western Civilization with Islam including unlimited Muslim immigration into Europe without assimilation. The present US administration seems to have bought into the merger with Islam. In contrast, Putin is probably far too nationalistic and racist to buy into that merger. He may use Islam for his own nationalistic purposes but I see no evidence that he is encouraging the replacement of traditional Russian culture with Islam.

I base my assertion that Putin’s primary reason for supporting the Church is somewhat insincere upon the fact that one cannot sincerely claim to support Christianity while also being a Colonel in the KGB. I’m also doubtful that European leaders have bought onto a project of merging Western Civilization with Islam through unlimited Muslim immigration into Europe without assimilation. They are, essentially allowing unlimited immigration but in their case its a combination of needing the immigrants (given Europe’s declining reproduction rate and aging pop.) and their own idealism.
If Europe has any tough Stalin types, I don’t see any public figures that match that type.
Agreed, neither Putin nor the Russian peoples are sympathetic toward Islam. But Putin is using Islam; Russia protects the rogue nations in the UN and Russia is the primary facilitator of Iran’s pursuit of nukes.

I read the links and find the argument unpersuasive.
So Iran’s left had been decimated by the Shah’s secret police prior to the Iranian revolution. After the revolution, they did not have the infrastructure in place to deal with the hundreds of thousands of dissatisfied workers, students, peasants, and state employees who opposed the theocratic regime.
The key is that the left was disorganized and composed of ideologues and “workers, students, peasants, and state employees” “desperate for direction”… particularly noteworthy is the lack of military and police supporting the left. I.E. the Mullahs and their supporters had the guns…
That is not the case in Russia, China nor increasingly, here in the US. The American left is highly organized and the unprecedented arming of Federal departments and the militarization of police departments across the country can have, IMO only one explanation; preparation for armed civil unrest.
In any conflict between liberals and Islamic fanatics I too would bet on the jihadists. My position is that the hard core left is an entirely different animal than the liberal left.
