On Obama and drone attacks on American citizens
It’s the hypocrisy, stupid.
But hypocrisy has always been one of Obama’s most salient characteristics. It’s certainly not a rare commodity in politicians, but Bookworm is absolutely right that he combines self-sanctifying egocentric moral preening with the most blatant hypocrisy—a combination which is in itself deeply hypocritical.
Even a few on the left may be starting to notice there’s some sort of contradiction here. I doubt they will become all that vocal, though. They wouldn’t want to bite the hand that feeds them.
They…are the mind-numbed robots they accuse us of being.
“I doubt they will become all that vocal, though. They wouldn’t want to bite the hand that feeds them.”
Or to fall afoul of accusations of apostasy…
It may be his hypocrisy, even more than his dishonesty, that makes it hard for even a conservative of good will to think favorably of anything President Obama does or says. However, I think that he is right on the use of drones.
The lefties don’t notice their own lies. Warren Buffet said publicly on TV that millionare should pay mor taxes, yet he has been privatly fighting the IRS for years to pay less taxes. Colin Powell said on TV that Obama saved the automobile industry. That is patently false. The automobile industry wasn’t going to dissapear if it went to bankruptcy.
The Left will destroy all that you have ever and will ever love, while making you pay for the privilege.
“However, I think that he is right on the use of drones.”
Another way of saying the ends justify the means.
Philosophically, it’s similar to how someone guesses 4 to the question of 2+2=?, while someone else got 4 because they actually did the addition correctly. The ends, the answer, justifies the means, even if the methods are faulty or mistaken.
This is the kind of thinking behind one death is a tragedy, one million is a statistic. Since it doesn’t matter how one goes about solving human problems, it is much easier merely to get rid of the humans involved, since that would end up with the same result more or less. It’s the foundation for megalomania.
Evil will never come from good methods, and good will never come from evil methods. Is another philosophical viewpoint. Or the obverse, the method determines the ends.
Eventually people will have to decide whether they want the future of America to be based upon might makes right, or an America based upon justice is might.
There’s always the remote chance that that a dislexic operator at Drone Central Control, who obtained his job via affirmative action, might accidentally target Pennsylvania Avenue instead of an Avenue in Pennsylvania.
It being close to the weekend, I think some happy thoughts are in order.
I’m of two minds about the drone strikes. If a guy is a terrorist, we can smack him. Except if he’s a US citizen swanning about the desert in a carload of non-US citizens. Not sure I buy that.
OTOH, the ease and cost of the thing make it like eating Cheetos. Hard to stop and when nobody knows why the bag is empty….
That having been said, the hypocrisy is not stunning. It’s predictable. It’s the libs’ default position. The fun is watching them get red in the face when braced with it.
Not that much else is accomplished. We’ve already stopped listening to them seriously.
