Asked today in press conference, Bush said he won’t discuss it. Interesting.

Are not the latest reports indicating that there were two targets: disruption of a test of a missile carrying a chemical warhead, and/or the unloading or storage of nuclear facility equipment? It is interesting that the Syrians were so vulnerable to an attack from the sea and not able to track the launch of the attacking aircraft or their movements, as well as the placement of all the support needed for such an action. One suspects that some heads will roll (perhaps literally) for these shortcomings.
If thre is a Korean involvement, what does this do to the supposed Korean agreements and would this not indicate a failure to track (never mind trust) what mayhem the North Koreans are still prepared to cause.
There may be North Korean involvement. Also, these may have been some of the weaponry Saddam managed to smuggle out of Iraq while Bush was dithering with the UN.
Excellent point about the “missing WMD.” One of the bizarre aspects of the Iraq war in its early stages was the discovery of still packaged and spanking new chem suits and doses of chem antidotes found in Iraqi Army bunkers. The answer to why these were there remains unanswered. It is doubtful that Saddam expected a chemical attack from the U.S. Was he fearful of an Iranian attack? Or was he putting on a show, understanding that U.S. intelligence would discover his purchase and deployment of these items?

What I’ve heard is the missile was a separate incident. An accident in late July. The “speculation” there is they were trying to mate a chemical warhead to a scud.
The airstrike allegedly involved ground troops as well, to guide and/or damage assessment. Even more questions to Syrian security if true.
“Former Spook” speculates North Korea was “pawning” off nuclear materials to show sincerity in “disarming” per agreements.
