Obama: Jon Stewart’s straight man — 51 Comments

  1. Unfortunately I think Obama (no fan here) is correct about the significance of the Health Care Reform bill. Any legislation that comandeers 1/6 of our economy is, indeed, significant.

That does not mean it is good law, an improvement or even desirous, but significant (without the positive connotations) definitely so.

  2. Not having lived through the Great Depression or have of the 90 years span since it occured, his assertion is one that lacks the personal knowledge to warrant making. It smacks of his egocentric outlook and an inability to see beyond his own nose. “We are what we have been waiting for” was always a wat of softening the declaration he really wanted to make “I am what you have been waiting for. Michelle’s smartman state meant was probably prepared by him and given to her to say, also because he couldn’t get away with it himself.

We only got one chance to elect him. Here hoping we won’t blow our chance to get rid of him.

  3. T: I agree. Significant and historical are two words this adminsitration likes to throw around that have no inherent value judgement as to whether they are good or bad. 6 million jews burned in ovens is also a historical and significant achievement.

  4. “We’ve gone through the two toughest years of any time since The Great Depression.”

World War II comes to mind…
    416,800 American military deaths…
the worst year being the year of Dunkirk

and if you remove the great depression i can make a list of things much worse than what obama is going through… even clintons empeachment exceeds that unless similar happens to him.

  5. Neo, I believe you are guilty of excluding rather than affirming. Isolating others from the place that they define as their place is self serving. If Obama wants to claim his was the greatest challenge since the great depression and his response the greatest piece of legislation ever, then that’s his right as an oppressed black man, as an intelligent and circumspect educated man, and in general as a hu-man. Because it’s not our borders which define us, and since truth changes from day to day, isn’t it better to be inclusive and affirm everyone’s positive projection of themselves.

  6. Based upon his lack of perspective and inability to recognize incongruity, I’m seriously beginning to suspect that Obama is mentally unbalanced and/or profoundly stupid.

Much like Kerry telling his fables re VC the Wonder Dog, Obama appears not to realize how risible his remarks sound to others. Even if Obama really believes this nonsense (or in the improbable event Kerry’s stories were actually true), an emotionally healthy person would realize that others would roll their eyes in response, and would therefore desist.

(My cousin, an ADA, told a story of a hulking Mike Tyson look-alike thug he prosecuted for beating the snot out of someone for whom the thug held a longstanding and well-documented grudge. In his defense the guy claimed he was at a poetry recital/macrame class or something equally effeminate and improbable. Apparently even the judge laughed. Even if his alibi were true, he should have said he was at a craps game, something that might be believed.)

  7. FLOTUS:
Barack is one of the smartest people you will ever encounter who will deign to enter this messy thing called politics,” his wife said a few weeks ago, adding that Americans will get only one chance to elect him.

So do us the honor of releasing SAT, LSAT, GRE et al scores and college transcripts to prove it. Thank you.

Someone who talks of speaking Austrian doesn’t strike me as being very bright and well-informed. Not to mention that nonsense about inflating tires being the energy equivalent of increased onshore and offshore drilling in all 50 states.

Oh, now I see why he hasn’t released the transcripts and scores et al.

  8. Curtis,

I certainly hope that you intended that post (“. . . truth changes from day to day. . . ,” 3:15 pm above) as tongue-in-cheek humor.

  9. OB,

I’m glad you included the “and/or.” As we know, mentally unbalanced and profoundly stupid are not mutually exclusive traits.

On a lighter note, we finally know who Carley Simon was writing about (“You’re so vain”). How’d she know???

  10. T,

    Quite.

I got the sarcasm really boiling by reading a blog entitled, “Our Penchant For Defining Ourselves By Excluding Others.”

  11. OB,

On a further note, I think Obama’s stupidity has to do with being (politically) raised in the Chicago thugocracy. That approach works as long as you have a closed system. Stepping onto the national stage is more like herding cats. He keeps reverting back to his Chicago roots because that’s all he knows how to do. Blagojovich found out that it doesn’t work even at the state level, and Obama is now finding out it doesn’t work nationally either.

  12. Another tangent,

I’d really like to know what Hillary Clinton’s reaction to all of this is. After all, she is/was an Alinsky-ite too. She’s now on stage as all of the Alinsky thuggery is coming apart at the seams with yet another news item each passing day. Makes me think that perhaps she’s glad she’s not in the oval office right about now.

  13. I’m getting tired of saying it, but it’s true: I’ve never heard this sort of thing from any previous president, left or right, good or bad, like him or not.

    I have…
or rather, i have seen speeches where they talk about what they did and who for, and every point got a huge wave of applause and adulation…

Every point a round of applause…

and the predilection to start things off with
    “they say”

What is needed, they say, are explanations of certain questions connected with the election campaign. What explanations, on what questions? Everything that had to be explained has been explained

They say there are some great hands at such speeches….

They say, why do we need….

the mans predecessor also used that turn of phrase
“If it were not for us,” they say, “there would be nobody to maintain order…

    the first man was Stalin
the second was his predecessor Lenin

They say that America must also prepare to take part in the war, hundreds of millions of dollars must be squeezed out of the people for new armaments, for armaments without end. And in America, too, a section of the Socialists echoes this false, criminal call. Let me read to you what Comrade Eugene Debs, the most popular leader of the American Socialists, the Presidential candidate of the American Socialist Party, writes.

you have to have read all this stuff to recognize the turns of phrase… (i think i have been saying that for a couple of years now).

given that they copy each other, and pore over speeches and methods… what you get are fractal echoes… the last quote relates to the US under Wilson…

They say that under the artillery department the works managements were poor. central council of trade unions 1920

its used a lot in socialist speeches to evoke the ‘other’. to talk for the absent other… you may notice that sometimes when arguing with a leftist they take BOTH sides of the argument! they will tell you their opinion, and then they will tell you what your side is!!!

in speech, they evoke the enemy outside. the Moriarty of the paranoiac coke fiend… the expression that they are right because they know both sides arguments in omniscience.

you need not actually know what they say, since he tells you…

the getting upset over lack of adulation comes from watching the speeches! and imagining it was you, and not understanding the dissonance of why you dont get applause on each point the way the idols your copying did… (cargo cult)

The Rheinische Zeitung, they say, has printed a communistic essay on Berlin family dwellings, accompanied by the following comment: This report “might not be without interest for the history of this important issue”. From this it follows, according to the Augsburger’s logic, that the Rheinische Zeitung “served up such dirty linen with approval”. Marx

PHRASEOLOGY was what i kept referring to
    and NEUROLINGUISTICS…

    A.R. Luria comes to mind…

its really freaky to read wiki on it
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuro-linguistic_programming#History_and_founding.

NLP originated when Richard Bandler, a student at University of California, Santa Cruz, was listening to and selecting portions of taped therapy sessions of the late Gestalt therapist Fritz Perls as a project for Robert Spitzer.[17][18] Bandler believed he recognized particular word and sentence structures which facilitated the acceptance of Perls’ therapeutic suggestions. Bandler took this idea to one of his university lecturers, John Grinder, a linguist. Together they studied Perls’ via tape and observed a second therapist Virginia Satir to produce what they termed the meta model, a model for gathering information and challenging a client’s language and underlying thinking

freaky in that the history is a lie… sort of
below is the real inventor… he died about the time that the above claimed to invent it.

Alexander Romanovich Luria (Russian: Алекса́ндр Рома́нович Лу́рия; 16 July 1902 — 14 August 1977) was a famous Soviet neuropsychologist and developmental psychologist. He was one of the founders of cultural-historical psychology and psychological activity theory.

the first NLP congress met in 2006
    1st NLP World Congress
    http://www.nlp-institutes.net/INnlpWorldCongressBook26to28may2006d150.pdf

The developers of NLP noticed that we also process information in words and that words too have a specific
brain system specialised to process them, as if they were a sensory system. They described this
verbal type of information as “auditory digital”, distinguishing it from the auditory input we get, for example,
in listening to music or to the sound of the wind. In thinking in words (talking to ourselves) we
pay attention specifically to the “meaning” coded into each specific word, rather than to the music of our voice. “The digital portions of our communications belong to a class of experience that we refer to as
“secondary experience”. Secondary experience is composed of the representations that we use to code
our primary experience —secondary experience (such as words and symbols) are only meaningful in
terms of the primary sensory representations that they anchor for us.” (Dilts et alia, 1980, p 75). When
we talk to you in words about “music” for example, what we say only has meaning depending on your
ability to be triggered by the word music into seeing, hearing or feeling actual sensory representations
    of an experience of music.

as i said they talk in codings… which is why they dont make sense a lot.

but NLP is why they accuse the other of what they do whether they do or not…

or they jump and make a blind assertion of some theory then force it.. the qwerty condition

that you have to think of the wrong fact to get rid of it, and eacn time you think of the wrong fact, you reinforce its memory and its presence.

so if you can claim the first point, you can force the refuter to keep refresshing the memory rather than refute it with others refreshing it.

we have been bathed in such, especially in modern school… parents dont speak it… but teachers do. so the young trust the ones that use the turns of phrase and respond to it.

this is also why the big symbolism… the pillars, the columns the appearing on the show at all.. its the visual side of targeting your victim

salesmen use things like this to pick up on the phraseology you use. its a piss to go into a show room, speak with one type then use other types after that and see if the sales guy switches phrasing!!!

if your visual, you will respond to “i see your point” more than “i hear what your saying”.

its also combined with body language too. where your eyes go when you talk can tell another person how to talk to you.

people who are sociopathic like this kind of stuff for what it can get them… and so on…

look up and to the left its visual recall (memory)
look up and to the right, its visual construct (lying, making up)

we know that one… problem is that there are two more… look to the center left, auditory recall
look to the center right, auditory construct
look down to the lower left, and its auditory digital.
look down to the lower right. its kinaesthetic…

so feelings people will look down and to the right…
[its more complicated than that, but i only have space for a tiny bit]

The “TOTE” was developed by neurology researchers George Miller, Eugene Galanter and Karl Pribram
(1960), as a model to explain how complex behaviour occurred. Ivan Pavlov’s original studies had
shown that simple behaviours can be produced by the stimulus-response cycle. When Pavlov’s dogs
heard the tuning fork ring (a stimulus; or in NLP terms an “anchor”), they salivated (response). But
there is more to dog behaviour than stimulus-response.

this kind of stuff is behind the concept of dialoging to consensus… unfreeze (release the anchor). move to a new point. refreeze (establish the new anchor)

if you read the NLP stuff on obama, its interesting.. but STAY away from the nutters…

the NLP will say that you cant get that much control
but the other NLP people that use it to do pickups, they show that this isnt true…

    it all depends…

whats usually missing from the idea of it not working on the public is the idea of the public being primed for it…

the students and younger who have been primed, know to respond a certain way to certain stimuli.

    this is why they parrot..
    they are trained in responses..
    and the responses are reinforced

so when some politician mentions a key phrase or classical point, they respond as they were trained in school. positively…

when the other side talks honestly, they hit key phrases that then trigger negative response.

to make this work, all you have to do is construct your lying not to touch on the triggers in debate.

so when they lie, you get positive
and when you debate, you get negative

all kinds of fun games when you no longer remember or think of your subject as human…
    but a puzzle…

  14. Artfldgr: my comment about not ever having heard this sort of thing before from a president was only in reference to Obama’s remark about having done things for them that the American people aren’t aware of.

  15. Re Michelle’s comment: I have never seen anything from he that suggested she would have merited more than a C in any of my HS classes. She is a social climber who devotes her attention to food fads, in clothing designers, and South Side racial clichees. I supppose she is impressed by Obama’s brilliance, relatively speaking.

  16. More hubris at the end. Obama the humble:

We have made a lot of progress over the last 18 months that from an historical perspective ranks up there with any legislative session we’ve seen in history.

Heh, not even US history, but world history. I’ll have to check with Victor Davis Hanson on this.

  17. If Obama needed my help to save drowning puppies i guess they’d all have to die. Because the first thing i’d reflexively think of is he plans to train them all to lick liberals and bite conservatives.

  18. I guess any anti-Progressive, anti-PC remarks I might make about Baraq Hussein and Affirmative Action would be termed raaacist. Possibly even here.

  19. Heh, not even US history, but world history.

Granny, he was being modest. He’d dialed his claim back from galactic history.

Obama suggested that his administration did so much that “we have done things that some folks don’t even know about.”

Sounds like we need a special prosecutor.

  20. Gringoe Says:
    October 28th, 2010 at 3:22 pm

Someone who talks of speaking Austrian doesn’t strike me as being very bright and well-informed.

    >>>

I am sure he misspoke. He mean ‘Australian’.

  21. Pajamas Media recently ran this awesome summary of the recent political life of the nation:

“During the second term of the Bush presidency people just got fed up with Republicans. They were idiots, they were no good at the whole fiscal conservatism thing (which is sort of the whole point of them), we had these wars that seemed to be going nowhere, and the economy was beginning to fail. They sucked, and people were sick and tired of them.

Thus people turned to the Democrats. And Obama.

Let’s just say they also sucked.

AMERICANS: “So, the economy is pretty bad and there’s high employment. You think you can do something about that?”

DEMOCRATS AND OBAMA: “We can spend a trillion dollars we don’t have on pork and stuff.”

AMERICANS: “No … that’s not what we want. We’d really like you not to do that.”

DEMOCRATS: “You’re stupid. We’re doing it anyway.”

AMERICANS: “That’s not going to help us get jobs!”

DEMOCRATS: “Sure it will; millions of them … though they may be invisible. You’ll have to trust us they exist. And guess what else we’ll do: We’ll create a giant new government program to take over health care.”

AMERICANS: “That has nothing to do with jobs!”

DEMOCRATS: “We don’t care about that anymore. We really want a giant new health care program. We’re sure you’ll love it.”

AMERICANS: “Don’t pass that bill. You hear me? Absolutely do not pass that bill.”

DEMOCRATS: “Believe me; you’ll love it. It has … well, I don’t know what exactly is in the bill, but we’re sure it’s great.”

AMERICANS: “Listen to me: DO. NOT. PASS. THAT. BILL.”

DEMOCRATS: “You’re not the boss of me! We’re doing it anyway!”

AMERICANS: “Look what you did! Now the economy is way worse, we’re even deeper in debt, and we have a bunch of new laws we don’t want!”

    DEMOCRATS: “You’re racist.”

AMERICANS: “Wha … How is that racist?”

DEMOCRATS: “Now you’re getting violent! Stop being violent and racist, you ignorant hillbillies! And remember to vote Democrat in November.”

So the Democrats sucked. But not just plain old, usual politician sucked, but epic levels of suck where it’s hard to find an analogue in human history that conveys the same level of suckitude. It was sheer incompetence plus arrogance – and those things do not complement each other well. We’re talking sucking that distorts time and space like a black hole.

    http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/republicans-kind-of-suck-which-is-why-they-will-win-huge-in-november/

  22. Obviously WWII, the Missile Crisis and such don’t rise up to the challenge level of passing legislation in this environment.

Even 911 pales in comparison WRT Obamacare.

It’s all a matter of perspective.

You see, the Resident has to prioritize from the very first — and this is his very first executive at-bat.

Further, he has to work around one of the most peripatetic golf schedules known and flown by any man.

  23. OT but notable–the White House, Slick Willie and poor-loser/third-party shill Crist all worked in tandem to try to get Florida Democratic Senate candidate Meek to throw himself under the bus, but he eventually decided to stay in the race.

Smacks of fear and desperation over the Senate. Who cares about the will of those who would support Meek at the polls? In the minds of Obama and Democratic party leaders Meek is just one more “sambo” who should do whatever his plantation bosses ask of him.

This party and administration deserve to burn. They deserve the worst ass-whooping in U.S. political history.

  24. Does anyone else resent the way Obama is using Air Force One as an executive jet? I have been in the air when the ATC cleared things out for Air Force One. It creates big problems for airlines, airports, and ATC. Not to mention the surface traffic problems once he gets on the ground. Wherever POTUS goes, and especially Obama, people’s daily lives and schedules are interrupted. Most past presidents have been aware of the chaos their travels create and have been somewhat circumspect in that respect. Not BHO!

Then there is the cost. $60,000/hour is the figure I see mentioned. Will the Democrat party reimburse the taxpayers for all the campaign trips? Air Force One was supposed to be used to do the people’s business, not as a personal jet for campaigning and vacation junkets. How about the trip to Mumbai? Yes, some official business will be done, but 570 rooms in one hotel and 190 in another? We are being robbed by this grifter and he’s too impressed with his own brilliance to notice that the bitter clingers are on to him.

If there is any justice, the Dems and Obama will lose, and lose big on Tuesday.

  25. It struck me watching the video clip (as well as daily doses of MSM news shows like CBS) that trashing a US President for 8 years makes the election of a narcissist like Obama relatively simple. On the other hand, it is impossible for them to make Obama look good when his job performance is so rotten. I think Obama misses W more than anyone else in the US. Jon Stewart would love to help Obama, but he has no skill at positive support. His talent is ridicule and sarcasm. He would be an utter failure at running a business because he can only mock. He tries in vain to restrain himself with Obama, but can’t because he is hard wired to manufacture snark to the fourth power. Obama loved hearing the roar of the crowd when he entered (I am, after all, Obama). Following that he delivered a pathetic recital of some alleged accomplishments of his administration. And the fatuous claim that the last two years were tough? My spoiled children may believe that, but on November 2nd there will be a day of reckoning, part I.

  26. It is amazing how different what Obama says sounds to me. Firstly, I did not hear him say he thought healthcare was THE MOST important piece of legislation ever passed. I heard:

“This is what I think most people would say is as significant a piece of legislation as we’ve seen in this country’s history.”

To me he was pointing out that it wasn’t as tiny a change as many on the left think. Perhaps he got a bit carried away comparing it to the biggest pieces of legislation, but I couldn’t say for sure not knowing the full list of say, the top 10 biggest pieces of legislation ever passed.

“We’ve gone through 2 of the toughest years in any time since the great depression.”

I heard what you heard here, but he seemed to stumble and what I think he meant to say was that the economy had gone through 2 of the toughest years in any time since the great depression. This is something I have often heard said.

Because I trust him I assume the best, because you don’t you assume the worst. It seems to be an intractable problem. Like all the liberals assuming Christine O’Donnell is a moron with her first amendment comment, while all the Republicans immediately trust her explanation. I believed her explanation for the record, though I only read what she said, I did not hear it.

Incidentally, on the topic of Jon Stewart I have bought myself a bus ticket to this rally of his on Saturday. I am thinking I might regret it, not being a great fan of crowds, but I have never been to Washington and I agree with his message. 2 good reasons to I thought.

  27. Simon: You say I assume the worst and you the best? I assume nothing. I am going on what the man actually said: the two toughest years of any time since the Great Depression.

Do you understand what the word “assume” means? You are the one who is assuming what he meant to say, something quite different from what he said. You are awfully helpful, and quite the mindreader as well. Nor has Obama made any claim that he actually meant to say anything other than what he did say.

What’s more, notice that I brought up the 70s and the severe inflation/recession that occurred under Carter. It was arguably worse than what we are undergoing now. So even if Obama somehow meant to say something quite different than what he actually said, and was referring only to these two years as being economically worse, he is not necessarily correct.

And by the way, he has fully earned my distrust by his actions. I did not start out distrusting him.

  28. It is amazing how different what Obama says sounds to me.

That’s because you’re not an American.

  29. I’m sorry I can’t really contribute much to this discussion – I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that so many people actually turn to Jon Stewart for political insight….seriously?!?!?!

  30. T

Reference your comment about Obama being forced to recognize that Chicago style politics does not work at the national level; I have a friend in the Democratic Party in Illinois who stated exactly that when Obama was first elected. I also got the impression the messiah was never that popular within his own party.

  31. AVI rights above (10/28/10 6:12 pm, “They’ve been the hardest two years in Obama’s life. I don’t think he has another frame of reference.”)

I think that is endemic to the Democrat party. John Kerry now believes that we have, as a country, lost our collective mind (http://www.bostonherald.com/news/opinion/editorials/view.bg?articleid=1292282).

It seems that the left is so cock-sure that they have a monopoly on the correct answers to all of our problems that for anyone else to consider other alternatives is simply insane.

This also brings to mind work done by the psychologist Jonathan Haidt (http://people.virginia.edu/~jdh6n/) who’s studies indicate that conservatives understand how liberals think, but that liberals simply have no clue as to conservative thought. Again, as AVI noted above, I don’t think they have any other frame of reference.

  32. T

It seems that the left is so cock-sure that they have a monopoly on the correct answers to all of our problems that for anyone else to consider other alternatives is simply insane.

As a certain publication used to say, it is no accident that the “Rally to Restore Sanity” is so named.

Simon, I would be interested in hearing what speculations you have on this comment from the POTUS:

“we have done things that some folks don’t even know about.”

As such a statement is ambiguous, one can only speculate.

  33. Scottie…

Very, very sad to say that my sister and BIL both regard Stewart as the news half-hour.

    Thus, such people do exist.

It may well be genetic. She is morphing into the spitting image of her paternal grandmother. But seeing her morph into a political outlook/bias exactly like her grandmother is eye opening.

( During the 1964 election Grandmother equated Goldwater to the anti-Christ and questioned how God could let so many evil Republicans loose upon the Earth.)

Such blind conviction is not to be tampered with. It will always be with us.

  34. Simon, I would be interested in hearing what speculations you have on this comment from the POTUS:

“we have done things that some folks don’t even know about.”

Seems pretty straightforward to me. He was saying that a lot of what they have done has gone unnoticed. I don’t see any reason to read further into it.

I wish he wouldn’t use the word “folks” so much. It sounds bloody ridiculous after the 100th utterance in half an hour.

  35. By the way, if you or anyone else need any more translations of Obama’s words I’d be more than happy to put my mind reading powers to work for you.

  36. Scottie, I hope your incredulity towards people who look to Jon Stewart for political insight also stretches to the Glen Becks/Rush Limbaughs of this world of this world.

  37. ” … we have done things that some folks don’t even know about. ”

    =========================

Y’know, it’s toss-off lines like this that fill me with unease. You might even say- dread.

Like, What OTHER evil, nefarious, double-plus-ungood things did those Dem-tards conceal in their 2000+ page bills??

  38. Simon, I would be interested in hearing what speculations you have on this comment from the POTUS:“we have done things that some folks don’t even know about.” Seems pretty straightforward to me. He was saying that a lot of what they have done has gone unnoticed. I don’t see any reason to read further into it. That doesn’t sound like a refutation of his campaign claim about “transparency,” or of trying to pull a fast one?

    Simon

Scottie, I hope your incredulity towards people who look to Jon Stewart for political insight also stretches to the Glen Becks/Rush Limbaughs of this world of this world.

Simon, why don’t you read Glenn Beck’s Arguing With Idiots, including over 20 pages of footnotes, and give us a point-by-point refutation.

  39. That’s quite a homework assignment Gringo. I’ll consider it. I did read Hayek’s “Road to Serfdom” as recommended by Neo, which I rather enjoyed.

  40. … adding that Americans will get only one chance to elect him.

On the bright side, we’ll be able to mock him for generations.

  41. Occam’s Beard:Based upon his lack of perspective and inability to recognize incongruity, I’m seriously beginning to suspect that Obama is mentally unbalanced and/or profoundly stupid.

Perhaps he’s a “crispy critter;” that is, a drug addict.

  42. First of all, Obama was right~indeed we are experiencing the toughest economic times since the Great Depression. This is not a complaint from Obama, rather a statement of fact. Your dismissal of WWII as “bunch of old folks carping” only betrays your complete ignorance, lack of historical facts or, in a language you can understand, sounds like you’re stupid idiot. Also, as a daughter of a WWII veteran, I find it personally insulting. My father lost his life in that war. Read on.

You recall random turbulent periods in history as proof that the current situation is nothing new, but anyone with an elementary education knows you are dead wrong. Nothing, aside from the Great Depression compares to what we are experiencing in this country due to the corrupt, greedy regime of George W. Bush.

Bush tried in vain to blame the deficit on Clinton, but he was caught in another lie. Clinton left office with a surplus. Bush took office & began making way for American jobs to be outsourced overseas and loosened regulations on Wall Street to rob and pillage from the American people~which has resulted in the massive loss of jobs and the housing crisis.

The reason we are in this mess is BUSH’s fault. He waged war with Iraq on false pretenses. He lied about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction. You should be angry too, many of our brave soldiers have died for no reason at all. And after it’s all said and done, the Bush family, which has had business dealings with the Bin Ladin Family, Osama Bin Ladin continues to live freely.

Lastly, Bush took all of America’s capitol and gave it to the Wall Street Banksters~they have no obligation to pay back nor are they required to inform us how these trillions of dollars were spent~as we now know the Banksters have received record BONUS CHECKS and have registered record profits. Most people are offended by this, you should be too. Now we have the highest deficit in history~The “Decider” got us here but sadly, you don’t place blame where it belongs.

    [response from neo-neocon: “Blarney” indeed.

Have you never heard of the concept of sarcasm? My statement, “bunch of old folks carping” was a rather obvious example of it.]
