  1. Holy cow! Fine data mining, Neo.
I never knew about the Brothers’ family and Appalachian mountain roots, which explains their wonderful tight harmony. Scots-Irish all the way, huh?

I just knew them as terrific pop artists way back then (late 1950s), about the same time I discovered early Bluegrass on clear-channel 50,000 watt WWVA radio, which I could get Saturday nights if I took our only radio up to the 2nd floor and the signal-reflective cloud cover was right.

  2. The Everyly Brothers were Kentucky country boys who blended folk and rockabilly into their never duplicated sound; a sound that inspired a wide variety of musicians with their incredible harmonies. They, unlike Elvis under the thumb of ‘Colonel’ Tom Parker, followed their hearts.

But the great masters IMO were Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins, and Chuck Berry. They were the giants who provided the shoulders that all who followed stood upon. Carl, Ringo, & Eric rocking Matchbox: http://tinyurl.com/kwf2ean

  3. By coincidence, I added “All I have to Do Is Dream”, “Bye Bye Love”, and “Wake Up Little Susie”, to my Amazon Cloud Player recently.

Next thing ya’ know, Neo will be writing about The Mama’s and the Papas “California Dreamin'”, “Dedicated to the One I Love”, and “Monday, Monday”.

  4. Peter oToole dies…

groucho marx used to write to dick cavet and would put quips in… one quip

“ever realize that peter otoole has a double phallic name?”

    RIP
