“There is nothing in this affadavit… — 36 Comments

  1. The crime, or lack thereof, doesn’t matter to this “States Attorney. All that matters is to get this case off the headlines until after the election.

  2. Starting to redeem himself, in my mind, after the OJ debacle, with his vigorous defense of Israel, and now this.

  3. One hopes this does not become the media circus/farce the OJ trial became. At least Dershowitz is on the right side this time.

Meanwhile, enjoy this yummy treat to cool you down as you fulminate over this case.

  4. Yeah, but at $12 bucks a pop, only those on welfare and employed by the federal government can afford it.

  5. Over-charging with 2nd degree murder in order to force a plea-bargain to manslaughter? Surely not in the good ol’ USA, right, Neo?
The prosecutor is angling for a job with Eric (the Red) Holder.

  6. Ironic part of this is how human nature proves not to change.

The black culture, is somewhat in “control,” and does what?

    Now, threatens a backlash.

Where and how does the pendulum stop swinging?

    With, of course, forgiveness.

    Which proves love.

But where and when down the line does
    forgiveness become possible?

    1 generation.

    2 generations.

    3?

We are getting close to three generations and many black people are saying, “it’s over.”

Those who are saying it’s over are saying it because for them it’s not. Thanks to the Welfare State.

But it’s not white people any longer who are holding them down. They are enslaved by their own behavior.

We won’t and cannot get over that hurdle until there is a loss of the idea, for the majorities, that the other side is the enemy.

Martin Luther saw this and reckoned that white people, once given the proper choice, would choose right.

We need to do the same and we have. We cannot continue to allow non-Luther thinking to be accepted. Martin Luther saw a colorless society, one based on acceptance of behavior, not color.

Now, the backlash threatens and we cannot allow it to take hold. Black people are us and we are them and we fought a huge and terrible battle to establish that. We will not let black people be hurt or targeted but neither will we let angry and revengeful black people control our media or culture.

Obama and Holder do not help healing; they hurt it. We must let their anger and hate be revealed and rejected.

  7. Of course, I don’t imagine the case will go to trial, much less be decided prior to the election, but if it did, can you imagine the riots that would break out if Zimmerman is acquitted? And if that were to happen, I have to wonder what that would do to Obama’s re-election choices, since it will show that this administration which was elected on hollow promises of bringing us together and being “post-racial” and “post-partisan”, has only driven us further apart?

  8. Nobody with any sense can possibly think at this point that the actual lightness of the indictment has anything substantive to do with the case and whether or not it goes forward. This thing left the niceties and even the rule of the law behind it weeks ago. The only question now is what it will take to get those that don’t see this yet to see it.

  9. Shocking? That’s why the lady with the scales wears a blindfold.

Does anyone, to bring up a sore point, actually believe OJ is innocent?

  10. “One hopes this does not become the media circus/farce the OJ trial became. ”

Too late. It was too late the moment the MSM race hustlers started their propaganda campaign.

  11. br549
Does anyone, to bring up a sore point, actually believe OJ is innocent?

A recently published book claims that OJ’s son killed Nicole. I am not going to bother reading it.

At the time of the jury decision, I had read of a number of blacks who were saying that as whites guilty as sin were able to get off by hiring an expensive attorney[s], so was OJ able to do so- which made it a good thing. His later being jailed on what happened in Vegas does not support innocence in the murders.

  12. The Obama administrstion has lost Alan Dershowitz on it’s policies toward Israel. The left has lost Alan Dershowitz on it’s policies toward George Zimmerman.

When one is a liberal and one loses Alan Dershowitz, the show’s over. Pack up the tents and go home.

  13. Curtis – well put. I have been told by several black young folks that they are sick and tired of being characterized according to their race and aghast at the older white folks (many teachers) who think that to appease all black people they have to consider all black people like black people – excuse me, like African Americans. These wonderful young folks who speak up to me realize that they are individuals, like any other individuals and they do not want to be seen as “a member of some group,” any group. They clamour, like Pilgrims, to be free. It is the nature of the human soul – and this is why we are to rest in faith and love.
Glory, hallelujah and thanks to MLK.
So these brave young individuals are here to teach the teachers, but the teachers do not listen. Well, some do.
Wonderful how Alan D is coming around — like Eldridge Cleaver, like David Mamet, like neo-neo, like all the other converts. We have events, reality, and Joel Pollack partly to thank for the AD conversion. Joel Pollack, according to AD, is the smartest student AD ever saw at Harvard Law. Who is JP? JP is the new editor over at Breitbart, having lost his noble election bid in Chicago to Jan Stukowski.

  14. What are police protocols in a 911 call such as Zimmerman’s? Shouldn’t the dispatcher have told him to stay in his vehicle in addition to telling him not to follow? Based on his consistent compliance with police protocols, including turning himself in, there’s every reason to believe Zimmerman would have stayed in his vehicle if told to do so. Such a directive by the dispatcher could very well have prevented the tragedy we have today.

  15. You know what else would have “prevented this tragedy?”

If Trayvon Martin hadn’t started punching a guy for looking at him funny.

Yes, it’s sad he got shot. You know what’s a good way not to get shot? Not punching people who could have a gun.

Was Zimmerman being overly suspicious by reporting Martin and keeping him under observation? Maybe (maybe not). That doesn’t justify Martin attacking him.

Any of the rationales for blaming Zimmerman apply doubly to Martin.

  16. At this point, if I had to guess, I would guess that the prosecutor is making a play for a plea bargain, and is pressuring Zimmerman via the unspoken and terrifying possibility that Zimmerman would be placed into an prison inmate population which included black prisoners who have various personality and/or mental disorders. Only a very few human beings, placed in Zimmerman’s shoes, would be willing to face that possibility and still maintain their nerve. I think it would take a very religiously faithful person to be in Zimmerman’s situation and to maintain their nerve. I have seen no indication that Zimmerman is such a religiously faithful individual. I judge that he is vulnerable to such pressure. As almost all of us would be.

  17. The misreporting, and the rumor mongering, and the racial politics of this, is an unspeakable injustice to Zimmerman. The publicly known evidence is on his side. If he is acquitted, then, for the remainder of his life, he will not be able to move freely through any urban area. He must always be watching over his shoulder for an unstable person. And, the worst part: he must not merely be watching out in order to protect himself, but also to protect any member of his family. For the rest of his life, his family members will be a risk from individuals who have unstable personalities and/or mental disorders. This is an unspeakably cruel fate for Mr. Zimmerman.

The guilt of Mr. Zimmerman’s accusers – in media and on blogs and among race hustlers – is already set in stone; is not contingent upon whether Mr. Zimmerman is eventually proven guilty or innocent. Mr. Zimmerman’s accusers have already lit the fuse of his future agony, and have done so even though the publicly known evidence points to Mr. Zimmerman’s innocence. If Mr. Zimmerman is eventually proven guilty, it will not excuse the cruelty of his accusers in media/blogs/race hustle industry. Theirs are some of the most cruel actions I have ever seen.

  18. Curtis @1:44 AM
There was a man named Luther, and there was a man named King, Jr.

  19. Trimegistus,
I don’t think you took my point. We can go on until next Christmas discussing the “maybe’s” and “maybe not’s” regarding the correct or incorrect behaviors of both involved. A hotheaded 17 year old and a well-intentioned, driven but clearly amateur community watch guy created a potentially explosive situation with both individuals likely to exercise poor judgment leading to violence, whether there was a gun on the scene or not. Once Zimmerman contacted 911, the police became a responsible and indisputable part of this scenario. The dispatcher could and should have provided the professional controlling hand needed in this case. Should have had the expertise/training to hold the situation in check until the police arrived. Should have been trained to see the potential violence. Keeping Zimmerman in his locked vehicle would have obviated an attack by Martin. There would have been no chance for physical contact other than Martin banging on the vehicle. Street addresses can be read from a vehicle; there was no need for a walkabout.
I believe the Sanford Police Department and the State of Florida may be held partially culpable for what happened and are vulnerable to a law suit by both families. But in Florida one rarely finds police training scrutinized even in the worst tragedies, including those where officers are gunned down.

  20. If Martin had succeeded in killing Zimmerman (slamming his head into the pavement after breaking his nose) in the rain and late darkness, because he didn’t like being looked at the wrong way, and gotten away only vaguely identified; If Obama had a son, what he would look like….

  21. By the time the trial of George Zimmerman is over (if there is a trial), the Rayvon Martin story may well have consumed more hours of airtime and newsprint than the Normandy invasion or the Kennedy assassination. Something is terribly wrong about the priorities of the media in this country.

  22. Jenna; I get what you are saying; But, I would like to add that 9-11 operators cannot do everything.

That operator already asked Zimmerman to NOT follow Martin. I don’t think it is reasonable to expect the operator to do much more than that as his focus was “what was going on, where was this suspect heading, what was the suspect doing, what dangers were there”, etc.

How on earth can we honestly hold the 9-11 operator responsible for the actions of 2 others? 9-11 operators cannot be giving every tiny detail on exactly how to handle things. That’s NOT their job; really it is not. Their job is to gather as much information as possible to pass onto the police.

With 20/20 hindsight it is very easy for any of us to say what should have been done. But, the reality of the moment is quite different.

  23. Bob Kantor–that’s the whole point.

Things like this are deliberate, opportunistic “diversions” that preoccupy people/the electorate to the detriment of their paying the attention they need to to the whole host of real and massive problems that have been created or exacerbated by the policies, statements, and actions of Obama & Co.–the economy, the housing market, the debt, budget, dollar, foreign policy, etc., etc. The more of these crises and minor issues the Obama & Co., the Left and their wholly bought MSM can take advantage of/piggyback off of, inflame, and/or manufacture, and the more air time and column inches devoted to them, the less Obama & Co. have to respond to questions about much more substantive things.

Thus, from now until the election I expect to see a continuing series of such crises that they will seize on, create, or inflame to change to topic from the dismal record and actions of the Left and of Obama & Co.

  24. The buck has been passed to a judge to decide whether to go forward, and based on what AD said on the reel, it doesn’t look like a case.

I bet the judge is thinking “thanks for nothin'” because the mob is going to blame the person who doesn’t move this forward.

  25. The latest news is that the female judge assigned the Zimmerman case has basically begged Zimmerman’s attorney to ask her to recuse herself, by noting that her husband has been hired to do legal commentary on the case for CNN.

  26. If Zimmerman is acquitted, the judge as well as the jurors may end up with bulls-eyes painted on their chests.

  27. Jenna and Charles,

The 911 operator successfully and almost immediately stopped Zimmerman’s pursuit of Martin.

At 2:22, without any prompting other than the aforementioned noises and breathing, the dispatcher asks “Are you following him?” to which Zimmerman responds, “Yeah.”

At 2:26 [i.e. 4 seconds later], the dispatcher says, “Okay, we don’t need you to do that,” to which Zimmerman responds, “Okay.”

Zimmerman proceeds to give the dispatcher his name. Then he says, “He ran.”

Zimmerman can still be heard breathing into the phone until about 2:39, at which point the heavy breathing stops entirely, a mere 13 seconds after the dispatcher asked him to stop following. A very calm and collected Zimmerman then proceeds to give the dispatcher his own information, directions and a description of his location for another 1 minute and 33 seconds.

    http://www.bob-owens.com/2012/04/the-trayvon-martin-case-for-dummies/

So, we have Zimmerman, on the 911 audio, saying that Martin ran; we have Zimmerman breathing normally and giving calm description to the 911 operator for approx 90 seconds, i.e. we have Zimmerman not running, i.e. we have Zimmerman not chasing Martin.

The media has done massive false reporting of this story. The publicly known evidence, such as the 911 audio, et al, is on Zimmerman’s side.

  28. Wolla and Rickl,

Agree with your observations. That judge is young. She does not want her career ruined by this thing. She does not want a lifetime target on her chest. This entire situation is a giant mess.

What it also is: a totalitarian mindset by the left, the media, and the race hustlers. It is this mindset: do it our way or we will punish you. The left, media, and race hustlers are not seeking truth. Rather, they are seeking conformity, and they will punish apostates, be they Zimmerman, or a judge, or jury members. Totalitarian mindset.

  29. gcotharn:
    It’s mob rule.

And if anyone is killed as a result of this, whether by riots or assassinations, the media will have blood on its hands.

I thought I couldn’t despise the media any more than I did after they gave us Obama. They have proven me wrong with their deliberate lies and deception in this case.

When TSHTF, media people will find themselves in a world of trouble, to put it delicately. They have much to answer for for what they have done to this country, and they will have to turn to God for mercy, since many Americans won’t have any.

  30. Jenna,

First, Zimmerman didn’t call 911, he called a regualar police number.

Second, dispachers are not necessarly the best source of advice. When a friend’s wife in a remote area called police to report men in a truck driving through the neighbor hood, trying to ram down fences and then walking up her driveway, dispatch told her to put away her gun, instead she fired in the air and the men left.

Third, When Zimmerman left his truck, I believe he had already lost sight of Martin. So at that point it didn’t seem all that dangerous.

  31. Don,

You say “dispachers are not necessarly the best source of advice.” That would be making my point. Wouldn’t a better trained, savvy dispatcher have told Zimmerman to stay in his vehicle?

That Zimmerman lost sight of Martin says nothing about the real or apparent danger he was in.

  32. gcotharn, “What it also is: a totalitarian mindset by the left, the media, and the race hustlers. It is this mindset: do it our way or we will punish you. The left, media, and race hustlers are not seeking truth. Rather, they are seeking conformity, and they will punish apostates, be they Zimmerman, or a judge, or jury members.”

Very similar to the way Islam operates. Is that why so many blacks are attracted to Islam? It teaches them how to intimidate apostates and infidels? Just a thought.

  33. Very good reporting on this can be found at the TalkLeft website.

Once again, that’s a lefty site you can usually count on to have the back of the defense. Here’s Jeralyn’s latest:

    http://www.talkleft.com/story/2012/4/15/51611/4068

And in case someone doesn’t want to give a Leftwing blog any page views even when they are on the same side as you , here is an extract:

“Given that Trayvon and Zimmerman were strangers, if the state’s argument for finding enmity and ill-will is that Zimmerman’s hatred of criminals extended to Trayvon because he assumed Trayvon was a criminal, I don’t think it will prevail. It seems to be just a story, intended to cover the gap in the intent requirement between murder 2 and manslaughter, in a way that that avoids the topic of race. Since it neither proves Zimmerman was the aggressor nor disproves he acted in self-defense or had a reasonable fear of death or serious bodily harm, the state’s story may be insufficient to establish either offense.

No wonder Angela Corey wanted to bypass the grand jury. She only had 1/2 a ham sandwich and forgot the mustard.”

Needless to say, most of her commenters disagree with her as fully as most here seem to agree with Neo.
