Funny, I didn’t notice Astaire.
So Very Cool! Who is his dance partner? Cyd Charisse?
But, he had a Gun, Heavens Forbid.
Interesting article from the DailyWire on the Somali takeover of Minneapolis, and expanding through the entire state. Basically a mafia operation where they have the police and politicians in their pocket. I’m not sure what it will take to break this up. I assume the FBI could come in with RICO laws like they did for the NY and RI crime families, but is the FBI up for such???

When I saw the still photo, I thought, I didn’t know Mel Gibson could dance!
Eeyore,
Huge belly laugh! I completely agree.
Perhaps 15 years ago, I read that Dick Cavett was a Film Noir junky like myself, and he had a few obscure favorites. One was Tension (1949) starring Richard Basehart and co-starring Cyd Charisse.
She doesn’t appear until about 1/3 of the way into the film, and when she does, I laughed. She is playing an amateur photographer who is up on a step ladder straddling it and a pillar on an apartment stairway, trying to get the best camera angle. Yeah sure, THAT’s why she’s in that pose. Ha!
This is the tight shot of that moment on the ladder, but they didn’t have the pull back shot.

This is a humdinger of a “deep-state” cockup story, an ongoing and unconcluded story to be sure, yet an interesting one all the same. Our old acquaintances hubris and nemesis make starring appearances.
SHIREHOME:
Yes, Cyd Charisse.
Fun post, and agree completely with the Fosse comparison.
When you dance with Cyd, you stay danced with!
–Fred Astaire
She drapes herself on him, and suddenly a gun appears pointing outward from him.
Ya don’t have to be Fellini . . . .
Michael Jackson was obviously deeply influenced by Bob Fosse’s “Snake in the Grass” dance performance from the Little Prince. Evidently Michael Jackson wanted Bob Fosse to direct the “Thriller” music video.
This article is rather hyperbolic, but it looks like the EU thinks it needs a lot more surveillance of its citizens. The law seems to have a fig leaf of legitimacy, but I’m doubtful.

Interesting new analysis about 3I/Atlas from Professor Avi Loeb, pointing out that the mysterious non-gravitational acceleration exhibited by 3I/Atlas somehow or other—what a coincidence—changed its trajectory just enough so that, when it passes by Jupiter, it will be able to arrive at a location where the gravitational pull of the Sun will be overcome by that of Jupiter —stable—and, as well, near Jupiter’s Lagrange points where—if it were to launch some sort of probe—thereafter, that probe would be able to maintain itself in a stable, unmoving position.
Quite another “coincidence,” isn’t it.
This is, by the way, the 13th anomaly exhibited by 3I/Atlas.

RE: 3I/Atlas–so much crap has been written about 3I/Atlas–so much “chaff” thrown up in the atmosphere–that it is hard to get a clear picture of what is actually true concerning this supposed interstellar rock.
There is so much commentary and “information” that I haven’t been able to read/watch even a small fraction of it.
But, I have gotten the impression that there does seem to be some dissatisfaction with the quality of their images, and the amount of detail that NASA has presented–all apparently adding up to “nothing to really see here,” it’s just a rock.
Given all of the obvious government disinformation surrounding the UFO issue–to include how NASA has dealt with this issue and–over the years, some insiders saying that NASA has been deliberately altering/deleting glimpses of UFOs or evidence of NHIs which their cameras have happened to capture–I am afraid that I am suspicious about what NASA has had to say about 3I/Atlas.
“…humdinger…”
…doesn’t begin to describe the absolute loathsomeness of it.
Nor does “odious”.
Nor “revolting”.
Nor “utterly repulsive”.
It’s truly sickening. Truly disgusting.
Irredeemably insane….
The Left, in Israel just as elsewhere, desperate to show everyone how VIRTUOUS it is, AGAIN seems to go out of its way to instead show just how decrepitly awful it is; why it CANNOT EVER BE TRUSTED; and why it should NEVER be allowed to hold power.

Snow,
If 3i/atlas successfully parks itself at a Lagrange point, I may come over to your side. Long ways to go for that to happen.
physicsguy-If Dr. Avi Loeb is correct in saying that there are 13 distinct anomalies associated with 3I/Atlas, it seems to me that this is far too great a number for these various anomalies to be natural, particularly those anomalies involving 3I/Atlas’ trajectory in relation to the planets of our Solar System.
If this were a science fiction story, and someone was listing these anomalies–one after another–and evaluating what this object could possibly be, and the threat it might represent–I’m pretty sure that the safe, likely, and very reasonable conclusion would be that this object is not natural but is, instead, some sort of alien technology.
(And, given the events of the last few years, tell me that we are not living in a species of science fiction story.)
Land of the slobs—
I see Secretary of Transportation Duffy has stirred up a lot of controversy with his suggestion that airline passengers ought to “dress up” a little.
Taking an airplane these days, and looking over the passengers, you might think that many on the plane were refugees, who perhaps raided the nearest Salvation Army clothing and shoe collection box they spotted in some parking lot.
Is Duffy’s theory that if you dress up, you will be better behaved, and less likely to act the fool on your flight?
It certainly is true—from the old images I’ve seen— that in, say the 1940s or 50s—when civilian air travel was a relatively new and expensive proposition—air travel was apparently an “event,” and people then—already generally far better turned out than today—would dress up for the event.
Of course, in those old pictures and films air travel looked like it was a far more luxurious experience than it is today— stewardesses far better manicured and dressed, food a lot better, and the accommodations far less cramped; it was-admittedly a different world.
But then, as relatively cheap air travel became commonplace, things went downhill.
For the airlines it was apparently all about surviving and making a buck, so — more and more—it’s increasingly been squeeze ‘em in, cut everything to the bone.
