Roundup
Once again, a lot of news:
(1) Trump and the UN escalator: Was it accidental or purposeful? Hard to say, but it’s being investigated.
(2) Rumor has it that James Comey is about to be indicted. For what? Not sure yet, but lying to Congress is a good possibility.
(3) Trump seems to be more Ukraine-friendly these days:
“After getting to know and fully understand the Ukraine/Russia Military and Economic situation and, after seeing the Economic trouble it is causing Russia, I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form.” …
He added that Russia has been “fighting aimlessly for three and a half years a War that should have taken a Real Military Power less than a week to win. This is not distinguishing Russia.”
More at the link.
Everything Trump says is a tactic, so it’s hard to say what this means. But one thing I think it means is that he’s fed up with Putin.
(4) Riots in Italy because the country didn’t join Britain, France, Canada, and Australia in jumping on the “Hey, recognizing Palestine now would be a great idea!” bandwagon.

On (5): Does this mean that Tucker Carlson claims the Jews in Israel today are NOT descended from the Jewish ancestors in the Bible?
Carlson is a rancid antisemite, so what care we for his opinion about Jews beyond that simple case?
If it had only been the escalator, slight possibility it wasn’t deliberate. Combined with the teleprompter going out it was certainly so.
Personally I’m glad Tucker is now going first class on the crazy train. What credibility he had with the sane is now entirely gone.
I haven’t heard this noted many places, but the UK, France, Canada, Spain and Australia chose to recognize Palestine on Rosh Hashanah. Anyone think that was not deliberate? Israel’s response should be to recognize Catalonian independence, Basque independence, Quebecer independence and maybe Tasman independence. Also, demand that the UK restore independence and return of the crown to Wales.
Alan Colbo…your suggestions are spot on…but if Israel wanted to put a thumb in Albanese’s eye they should suggest that the land of Australia should be immediately ceded back to the first nations peoples who’ve lived here for 50-60,000 years. There was no treaty & no relinquishing of land rights. “Always was. Always will be.” Is I think the equivalent of the “From the river” shiite.
@ Alan Combo – the NYPost elaborates on your example:

The headline crafter obviously was educated in the old school manner.

“Maybe somebody stole [stopped] the escalator as something symbolic. We should all remember that President Trump came down an escalator to announce his presidential candidacy.”
(3) “Everything Trump says is a tactic, so it’s hard to say what this means. But one thing I think it means is that he’s fed up with Putin.”
Karloline Leavitt pretty much says that as quoted in the NBC post Neo linked:
Putin isn’t paying attention to Trump’s pattern in the Middle East: he holds out the hand of peace in the beginning, but if his offers are spurned, he doesn’t keep begging.
As Iran found out, when he 86ed their armed forces leadership and helped Israel bomb their nuclear facilities.
Hamas didn’t take the olive branch when extended either.

The best part of the teleprompter sabotage is that a carefully written 15 minute speech became an hour of Trump at his extemporaneous best.
Apparently, those of us who watched the video heard more of Trump’s speech than the live audience did.

Goldfinger: Mr Bond, they have a saying in Chicago: “Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. The third time it’s enemy action.”
Another thing that we should be keeping an eye on is the number of asteroids/comets which have suddenly started to enter our solar system.
Should one of these asteroids of significant size hit the Earth, we— like the dinosaurs before us—might be the main players in an “extinction level event.”
There has been a small scale experiment or two, but, as it stands right now, we have apparently no real way to reliably deflect or destroy large rocks headed straight for us here on Earth.
As I have written here before, Planetary Defense is, and should be, an urgent priority.
So, according to what I am reading, there were three distinct sabotage actions at the UN— the elevator which didn’t work, the teleprompter which also didn’t work, and the volume on the sound system was also apparently set so low that many delegates could not hear what Trump was saying.
As I understand it, the U.S. pays the lion’s share for the UN’s operations, yet, for the U.S. and for Trump the UN is hostile territory, and what were pretty apparently several attempts to interfere with his appearance and speech attests to that fact.
I guess the argument is that we need to be in the UN to see what our enemies are up to, and to use our veto to prevent many of their actions.
Honestly though, I see no reason why the US should any longer be a member of the UN, pay to support them, or to host their personnel or facilities on our territory.
They want to manage the world, and they can’t even manage their own building ?
Escalator, teleprompter, and the sound system volume – all three seemed to be too much of a coincidence to be simple mistakes.
And, given how Trump has a history of doubling down on anyone who messes with him, I feel like they chose the wrong President to play these “jokes” on.
Someone has to know the last time that escalator stopped during the day..
My guess it’s been a very long time.
Doug Ross Substack had a run on a history about the 2016 Coup D’etat. Comey and the rest of the Eff Bee Eye plays a big roll.
@ Snow > “to use our veto to prevent many of their actions.”
I was thinking of that today, and concluded that IF the US stops funding the UN, they won’t be able to carry out very many of their desired actions, so it isn’t necessary for us to “prevent” them.
If some other country wants to pay for their shenanigans (which are far worse than that name implies), let them pay.
If China or Russia goes gung-ho down the roads that so far our vetoes have stopped, let them fund the trip. They may find that tough going considering the mess their own economies are in.
And if we stop funding Iran and other middle east trouble-makers, they can’t get up to nearly as much mischief either.
