Caroline Glick on what’s going on between the Biden administration and Israel — 12 Comments

  1. ObamaMalleyBidenBlinkenSullivan are poised to plunge the knife in Israel’s back,
as they need merely abstain the US vote on the UNSC. No veto is the same as voting “yes” on the measure. Where will they go? Ah, but where are they headed? [ https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/blinken-ending-gaza-war-as-quickly-as-possible-a-top-priority-for-administration/ ]

A vote on the UAE resolution is now scheduled for approximately 11 a.m. E.T. on Wednesday. Should the United States continue to push back, Abu Dhabi has the option to table the resolution for a vote anyway and likely force Washington to use yet another veto, showing its growing isolation and, at the same time, its steadfastness in backing Israel at the global body.

  2. The perfunctory, “Of course we condemn Hamas’s slaughter/rape/beheading….” has become the leftist ruling class virtual macro devoid of meaning or influence on the, as Ms Glick says, hectoring of Israel and it’s tactics.

  3. why is the uae doing this, they have made themselves an adversary of qatar and cair, they used to underwrite the latter, their finance arm, funded many of the stinkers in the iraq and afghanistan era,

  4. I’m surprised that internecine violence has not swept Israel. But given historical experience, not surprised as well.

On one level however, the “justification” in the sense of a normally anticipated occurance, seems to be there; as the cumulative activities of the uninhibited and by hook or crook ( I’m tired of repeating ” by any means necessary”) aiming leftists constitute, as we have seen demonstrated, an outright threat to the survival of conservative Israelis, and to the Jewish state itself.

If your neighbor is actively working politically to get you killed, and is even employing extra-legally invented techniques to bring it about, you only end up with a couple-three options ultimately.

For now they are forced to pull together.

Whether there will be serious score settling, a continuation of business as usual, or some kind or reconciliation afterward, is anyone’s guess.

It might be in the psychic/cultural “DNA” of a plurality of Israelis and perhaps even of Jewish people as a whole to reject a St. Bartholomew’s Day scenario solution even figuratively. ‘Cause where has that gotten them in the past. With the Romans taking the temple mount.

But still, ” Live by, ‘All are welcome’, die by, ‘All are welcome’ “. Just ask the institutional Catholic Church or California, if you doubt it.

  5. DNW,

If it’s internecine violence one’s after, Nicea, Turkey is a more likely locus.

  6. Called it: “BREAKING REPORT: Israel to end dependence on US for munitions”

Isaiah 31:1 “Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help And rely on horses, And trust in chariots because they are many And in horsemen because they are very strong, But they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek the Lord!”

It’s about time Israel woke up to the US as Egypt. That’s a ‘woke’ I can get behind.

  7. And it seems that Danny Ayalon is making the point I raised a few posts ago, “Former Israeli Ambassador to the United States Danny Ayalon told Newsmax on Tuesday that Qatar is playing all sides in the Israel-Hamas war and creates problems so that it can be the one to fix them.” https://www.newsmax.com/world/globaltalk/danny-ayalon-israel-newsmax/2023/12/19/id/1146549/

Qatar as in, “Nice little country you have there. Be a shame if something happens to it.”

  8. Yes, the ‘human rights’ outfits are run by intellectual and moral frauds. Their members and donors are a mix of frauds and dupes.

  9. I would recommend a book called “The dumbest generation grows up” by Mark Bauerlein It is a sequel to his previous book, a href=”https://www.amazon.com/Dumbest-Generation-Stupefies-Americans-Jeopardizes/dp/B0054TPHNM”>”The Dumbest Generation,” which describes the “Digital Generation.”

Let’s take stock of young America. Compared to previous generations, American youth have more schooling (college enrollments have never been higher); more money ($100 a week in disposable income); more leisure time (five hours a day); and more news and information (Internet, The Daily Show, RSS feeds). What do they do with all that time and money? They download, upload, IM, post, chat, and network. (Nine of their top ten sites are for social networking.) They watch television and play video games (2 to 4 hours per day). And here is what they don’t do: They don’t read, even online (two thirds aren’t proficient in reading); they don’t follow politics (most can’t name their mayor, governor, or senator); they don’t maintain a brisk work ethic (just ask employers); and they don’t vote regularly (45 percent can’t comprehend a ballot). They are the dumbest generation.
