(2) The left twists Trump’s words to make it sound like he falsely claimed he was pulled from the World Trade Center rubble on 9/11. When I saw the headline I knew it was fake. But I’m not their target. They know how to hit the mark with those who are receptive.

He was talking about the U.S. Steel Building—and he specifically emphasized that. The building was creaking, they thought it was coming down, and two firefighters grabbed him and got him out of there.
Not the Twin Towers. Not the rubble.

(3) Why would the 9/11 families want Mamdani to address the assemblage on the 25th anniversary? They wouldn’t, for the most part:
New York City Council Member Vickie Paladino and the families plan to deliver a petition with over 100,000 signatures against Mamdani’s appearance before the Friday service.
Giovanni Galante, who lost his wife in the terrorist attack, organized the petition, which “asks that the sacred anniversary remain a solemn, distraction-free day of mourning rather than a backdrop for political presence.”
“We don’t believe in what he believes in, and we really want us to be left alone,” explained Galante. “This 25th anniversary is for victims and survivors to blend in and pray that day for all the families — not have a circus around us.”

Re speed brakes and thrust reversers: on the 767, these are disabled until sensors on the landing gear indicate the main wheels are planted on the runway. Due to an excessively high landing speed, this did not occur until too far down the runway to stop normally.
Apparently, failure to abort a flawed approach (usually too high, too fast) is a leading cause of runway “excursions”, which despite to name, are never enjoyable!
RIP is for the five employees of a cleaning service whose van was t-boned by the jet. The 767 crew reportedly survived.

This suggests that the airplane systems may have not functioned as expected, leading to confusion, and the rookie mistake to abort/not abort the landing.
The mention of low time in the aircraft may be telling. It will be interesting to see details of the level of the Captain’s 767 experience in particular, as well as experience in other similar aircraft. Note, a Captain on an aircraft such as a 767 would normally be expected to have considerable command experience in various aircraft types; and extensive simulator training involving various abnormal/emergency situations. This company’s hiring and training practices will be scrutinized. The voice recording at the moment of the fateful decision will be crucial.

How did Malcolm X’s conversion to Islam work out for him?
First, it was just Trump Derangement Syndrome, but it has metastasized into Acute Trump Derangement Syndrome (ATDS), of which there is no cure.
Democrats could teach an advanced course on political rhetoric and propaganda in their sleep.
While I don’t want Republicans to mimic Democrats, they could certainly pick a few of the highlights of Rules for Radicals to study, and put into action, just as a counter measure.
I listened to a short segment that Steve Hilton did on radio yesterday. He’s very intelligent and well-spoken of course, and he makes some valid points mostly, but seems to get lost in delivering a concise message that will stick, like – Xavier Becerra was appointed HHS Secretary, a position he had no direct experience or education in and is alleged to have grossly mismanaged the Unaccompanied Minors from foreign country’s immigration program. Hilton needs to make that an issue.
Xavier Bacerra is like Swiss milk, bland. And he’s not real smart IMO. But he does punch enough identity boxes to be electable for your average Democrat voter.

Perhaps a more complicated question than one might think.
While in prison as a young man Malcolm X converted first to the Nation of Islam (NOI), which was sort of the Scientology black radical version of Islam in which whites are literally devils.
Malcolm X used the NOI to straighten out his life, develop self-discipline, read voraciously and emerge from prison a changed man and a very effective speaker for the NOI.
Over time Malcolm X eclipsed the leader of the NOI, Elijah Muhammad, which became a problem for the organization.
However, Malcolm X continued to evolve. According to his autobiography he became disillusioned with the NOI and in 1964 he made his pilgrimage to Mecca. He saw white Muslims worshipping alongside him and he gave up his hatred of whites. He converted to orthodox Sunni Islam.
Or so we are told. And however as much of an improvement over the NOI.
It’s a moving chapter — I read it back then — to end on. However, a few months later Malcolm X was assassinated by killers from the NOI.
Malcolm X famously used the phrase “chickens coming home to roost” to explain the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Perhaps there’s a moral to the story.

I think I am possibly younger than the median reader of this blog (31)…and I will always remember in 2008 when my ‘social studies’ teacher in eight grade showed us a ‘documentary’ of Malcom x that lionized him and the black segregation movement. It was outright propoganda. She also made sure to show us a segment detailing the infidelity of Martin Luther King as a means of discrediting him.
They were laying the groundwork in earnest for the third-worlder/grievance politics that has flooded the political zone today.

This was MLK’s stance as opposed to the black radical position, such as held by Malcolm X, that it was all about race and whites would always be racist.
American race relations, according to polls, consistently improved on MLK’s basis.
However, the Malcolm X position didn’t die down on the left or in academia. Barack Obama partly modeled himself on Malcolm X. And since he won in 2008, race relations have gotten worse and worse.
