Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned that the U.S. is launching an “economic D-Day” against Iran, vowing to sever every remaining financial lifeline to Tehran and punish countries that continue doing business with the Islamic Republic.
The Chinese military has developed hypersonic glide vehicles that can launch air-to-air weapons, an advancement meant to threaten high-value targets such as command-and-control aircraft thousands of miles away.
• A hypersonic glide vehicle deployed from a DF-17 missile could travel about 1,500 miles (2,414 kilometers) — just short of the distance from China to the US territory of Guam, a major military site. The DF-27 missile has a maximum range of about 5,000 miles, putting Hawaii in range.
@Karmi:Texas conservatives are ‘breaking rank’
Do they have names? There’s probably like six of them, the same six as last election year. “Lifelong Republicans” of course. Do you know how many articles predict that every election year in Texas? The whole point of such articles is to try to persuade people it will happen, not report on it happening.

Oh, thank you! I mean that quite sincerely. That collection illustrates things nicely.
We always need to keep in mind that most of the news media, especially Lefty but to some degree Righty as well, are not so much reporting on the election as they are cheerleading for their sides.
The election reporting from the MsM (or what was once such) is always intended to:
1. Depress Republican turnout. “It’s hopeless, don’t waste your time voting, the Republican has already lost.”
1a. It’s also aimed at the conservative and traditionalist wings of the GOP. “The RINOs won’t vote for a conservative! Your only hope is to rally behind a fiscal conservative/social liberal!” Which of course guarantees defeat because that’s the least popular position on the GOP spectrum.
A subset of that used to be visible in coverage of VEEP choices. Every time a GOP candidate captured the nomination, the press would start speculating abotu whether he would pick Christine Todd Whitman or Elizabeth Dole as his veep, to ‘balance the ticket’. It was presented as inevitable that it would be one of the 2.’
They wanted to con the GOP into picking a RINO veep to guarantee defeat in November.
2. Encourage Dem turnout. “You can flip Texas (or Indiana, or Ohio, or whatever), it’s close, get to the polls!”
I’ve seen this pattern play out in every election since I’ve been old enough to follow politics, which has been a while.
Sometimes, I think the press drinks their own Kool-aid and starts to believe what they’re saying, other times it’s purely manipulative, but the pattern is always there.
Did the media really believe Trump was going to lose in a landslide in 2016? I think some of them convinced themselves, but the overall thrust of the coverage was still meant to depress GOP turnout.
We should always remember that ALL coverage is agenda coverage.
I agree with HC68. Our media stinks with the smell of rotten Leftism, ongoing for decades now. I exclude the Epoch Times paper. The NYTimes favors Muslims over Jews.
Yesterday at church they had the first graders and the parents come up front for their promotion from the childrens classes to the regular adult services. They did prayer with the kids and gave them a Bible. As this was happening
I was thinking about something I read that week.
In the 1300 s , Thessaloniki in Northern Greece was conquered by the Muslims. They had a system called the ” devismre” where they would take boys from Christian families and force them to convert to Islam and make them soldiers of the Empire. In the book ” 1453: The Conquest and Tragedy of Constantinople” by Anthony Kaldellis,he quotes a Bishop in Thessaloniki talking about the anguish parents felt loosing children this way to the Muslims that they had prayed for and that had been in church – perhaps this bishop was thinking of specific young faces he had seen in the pew that were taken to be forced into Islam. Those parents feelings towards their children in the 1300s and beyond would have been just as strong as those parents yesterday at the church. The Christians in the Ottoman Empire lived under this for multiple generations!
Oh noes, The Washington Post giving factual unbiased reporting about Texas Republicans and Bloomberg reporting on advanced Temu/tofu CCP weapons systems.
“Hypersonic glide vehicles”? Wow! I’d like to see the physics behind that.
Hypersonic glide vehicles/missiles are the new shiny object, used to be rail guns.
About the propaganda media, it’s Leftworld (and now Marxist world) shap8ng power shifts Presidential voting outcomes to the Left by a measured 5-8%. At least this was the findings of media and voting researcher, political economist Tim Gloseclose (See his book, “No Left Turns).
But his work was on political reporting during the cable TV era, not the social media and cell-phone driven news world of today.
Groseclose concludes that if news reporting was shorn and de-slanted, American election vote would resemble such right-leaning states as Tennessee or Texas. Think about that.
In other words, without Left media propaganda, there would be little concern about the matters of the day that bring us here.
And it leads straight to the Post’s Sunday editorial,
“Trump is winning the Iran war— stay the course”
Even before Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent sets out new US moves to pressure Iran’s economy, things are looking increasing grim for Tehran; President Donald Trump is clearly winning and mainly needs to hold firm as the enemy tries to wriggle out.
Crucially, oil is now flowing through the Strait of Hormuz, meaning Tehran’s gambit of closing it has failed.

They never really had it closed, ships with transponders off were in little danger. The threat of closing it was what they had, and they’re increasingly demonstrating that the threat was never much, not to mention incenting everyone who shipped through there to route around, and that change will be permanent.
The Supreme Court on Monday allowed President Trump’s administration to move ahead with implementing key portions of an executive order that seeks to tighten the rules for mail voting ahead of the November midterm elections.
In a 6-3 ruling, the high court granted a request for emergency relief sought by the Trump administration late last month in a case involving 23 Democratic-led states. The Justice Department had asked the Supreme Court to lift a lower court’s injunction that stopped agencies from carrying out parts of Mr. Trump’s directive, which involves the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Postal Service, in those states and the District of Columbia.
The high court said in its unsigned decision that the states filed their lawsuit too soon.

And the neighbors that Iran has been attacking have had enough: Its largest trading partner, the United Arab Emirates, last week cut off all transactions including financial ones.
