I wore Dress Shoes to work, leather soles. When I retired I very seldom wore them. Then, several years ago we were getting ready to go on a cruise that required moderate Dress Up. You know, men in coats and ties. I took out my Dress Shoes and found that the uppers were cracking. Found out they were not good leather at all. So, I went looking for a new pair. Hard to find, tried on lots of different ones and nothing really fit like Dress Shoes use to fit. Finally found a pair, not perfect, but will do.
Maybe I’m just easily amused but I think this is pretty clever. A photograph that reproduces pretty damn well Van Gogh’s Starry Night.
Hope the link works. Sorry if it doesn’t, I’m not the most tech savvy.
Life is too short to wear shoes that hurt.
Adults don’t bother “dressing up” anymore.
Look at picture of Baseball Games from the 1940’s. Almost all the men wore suits. And the ladies wore dresses. Not anymore.
Don’t even get me started on what people wear to Church these days. “Sunday’s Best” is a thing of the past.
It was some movie, perhaps The Devil Wears Prada, where the young fashionable ladies wearing the expensive designer shoes were referred to as “clackers.” The sound they made when walking on hard floors.
When I was young ( a long time ago), if your shoes squeaked when you walked, people would say that you hadn’t paid the cobbler.
I’ve only worn a men’s suit about a dozen times in my life. I’m 63 years old. I don’t even own one now. I think they’re old fashioned, uncomfortable, impractical, and kind of ridiculous. Most of my life, including now, it’s been Dickies, Levi 501 Jeans, and a t-shirt, usually Meat Puppets, Stereolab, etc. I’m an artist and have to be comfortable.
Something that has mercifully gone out of “style” is men nailing cleats to their shoes where their particular walking pattern caused (usually) one small portion of the shoe(s) to wear out necessitating new shoes. I can understand some people trying to make ends meet by doing this but it made an unholy racket. Although I didn’t do a scientific study on this, my observation was that cleats were worn mostly by the biggest skinflints around. Making this loud betraying sound didn’t seem to bother them in the slightest as long as they could save a nickel. Anybody else remember this noise pollution?
Well, now that that mystery has been solved, here is another mystery;
can chipmunks actually walk?
Not run, not sit on their hindquarters, but just walk.
On the unpaved trail I walk on, you can see deer, many many squirrels and chipmunks, birds, etc.
While I have seen squirrels actually walk I have never seen a chipmunk walk.
They are either running or on their hindquarters munching on something, but never walking.
So, has anyone ever seen a chipmunk walk??
Are they capable of walking??
