Must admit; I am totally perplexed as to what Trump’s plan is re: Iran.
Obviously, he wants Iran to yield to his demands, but with the IRGC running the show, that will NEVER happen.
But Trump knows this.
Only time will tell, but I hope an acceptable resolution is obtained before the mid-term elections in November.
Yes, as I linked yesterday, the GOP Hawks are getting restless, while the squishes are of course losing their nerve. I don’t understand what’s holding Trump back. He didn’t seem to care 3 months ago.
And then there are these headlines from Fox:
Iran ‘problem’ will be solved ‘one way or the other,’ Rubio says.
And:
Trump says it’s a ‘solid 50/50’ if he can make Iran deal or ‘blow them to kingdom come’: report
And thus I still have hope. As long as that’s real, I guess I don’t care how long it takes Iran to capitulate. Ten years ago I couldn’t have imagined myself saying this, but…I’ve come to trust Trump. I think ultimately this comes out right.

I don’t know, though I know I wouldn’t talk with Barak Ravid about the Iran conflict. Why? Because I simplistically expect Barak Ravid to do everything within his capacities to injure Bibi Netanyahu at every step of the way, using every jot and tittle about the Iran conflict to that end.
But hey, what do I know about this usage on Trump’s part? For all I know it’s a piece in the puzzle-world of deception built from day One in this conflict with Iran, used repeatedly throughout to amazing effect, time and again.
Or not. Maybe something else is at work I have failed to imagine, for my ignorance of the myriad of hidden details in this conflict is immense.
Yet there remain many potential paths to a satisfactory achievement of the ends we seek, so long as no cessation comes before those ends are in hand. I see no indication the US is quitting the field. On the contrary, it looks far more like the US is building its own capacities to enforce its will.
It’s a tad more complex than most commenters acknowledge. The oil = energy is a worldwide issue. The IRGC knows this, and is banking on the fact that Europe and China needs its oil. If the US bombs refineries, storage tanks, shipment terminals, these structures will require years to replace. In the meantime there will be another Great Depression. Or raging inflation with money chasing very limited supply of goods.

I’m losing faith in him, because it seems like the interests of Americans are taking a back seat to those of 7th century religious fanatics. There is only one way to “convince” them, and it isn’t bragging about how their navy is sunk. It’s destroying them!

If by some miracle Trump pulls his finger out and starts bombing, how many minutes until another cease-fire? Somebody kick him in the ass and tell him to lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way!!
Wicker says there’s a rumored 60 day total ceasefire in the latest proposal and that it would just give Iran everything they want. I’m beginning to think the left with their TACO may be correct.
