I am certainly keeping my eye on Ted Cruz. And three (3) others. Never has Donald Trump been on that shortening list.
It’s still very early. Very early.
If you are a conservative Ted Cruz is your man. No sure if there are enough pure conservatives in todays electorate to win.
I have hope …
My top choice is Cruz/Fiorina. But frankly, Trump is ahead of them in his gut perception that illegal immigration and Islam are currently* the greatest threats we face. Trumps contemptuous dismissal of political correctness is his greatest strength, one that Cruz and Fiorina would do well to emulate.
To the degree that they fail to fully emulate Trump in that area will their appeal be limited. Now is not the time for timidity.
Note: yes, Cruz and Fiorina have been outspoken but they still indicate that our war is with radical, ‘militant’ Islam. Evidently they have yet to accept that even if we were able to kill every jihadist on earth, in but a few generations the threat would arise anew and, it will continue to do so as long as Islam remains, because totalitarian expansion is a theological imperative from Allah… Trump, in his gut gets that, though I’m not confident that he could articulate it.
I do believe however, that after enough future attacks both Cruz and Fiorina will come to realize the nature and depth of the threat Western civilization faces from Islam.
*China and the hardcore Western Left are the other primary threats we face.
I met with the Cruz Iowa campaign rep in my area this afternoon. I have agreed to speak in favor of TC at my local caucus. I have jumped on the bandwagon. Cruz/Fiorina is my ticket.
After the events of the past month, I am sold on Cruz. I was previously leaning toward Rubio.
Cruz is a brilliant, principled, fearless leader and that’s what we need. His strategy for managing Trump, while building his own campaign, is fascinating to watch.
Also heard a great interview with Cruz’ wife Heidi on Fox this morning. She’s an asset for him and will help make him more appealing as a personality, I think.
This is how I want to see candidates present themselves, explaining their thinking behind their proposals so that you can judge how they might deal with things that haven’t arisen yet. Calling in a soundbite to CNN and telling us how rich you are does not win my confidence, even if it hits on a raw nerve. But I want much more from a president.
increasing h1b visas which now are taking about 50% of new programming hires (according to a recent article) and increasing h2 visas… and j1
As Republicans squabble over Donald Trump’s controversial proposal to bar all Muslims from traveling to the United States, the House is gearing up to restrict the visa waiver program that currently permits roughly 20 million people to enter the country annually.
and if obama does his thing with and for guns as in the press, well Cruz hasnt said if he would reverse it or keep it, he is silent. As well as the idea that using medical conditions to justify suspending civil rights which can be scary in a country where more than 1/3 take anxiety meds.
i am at least smart enouhg to know if the left hates him like crazy and the repubs we are frustrated with that are like lesser lefts, are going nuts, then guess who is the most likely to break the deals and sweet futures in despotic graft and nepotism? even if its just fun to clobber these detached servants come rulers who are making a fortune and cheating like crazy.
Trump has proposed substantially raising the prevailing wage of H-1B visa holders.
“Increase prevailing wage for H-1Bs. We graduate two times more Americans with STEM degrees each year than find STEM jobs, yet as much as two-thirds of entry-level hiring for IT jobs is accomplished through the H-1B program. More than half of H-1B visas are issued for the program’s lowest allowable wage level, and more than eighty percent for its bottom two. Raising the prevailing wage paid to H-1Bs will force companies to give these coveted entry-level jobs to the existing domestic pool of unemployed native and immigrant workers in the U.S., instead of flying in cheaper workers from overseas. This will improve the number of black, Hispanic and female workers in Silicon Valley who have been passed over in favor of the H-1B program. Mark Zuckerberg’s personal Senator, Marco Rubio, has a bill to triple H-1Bs that would decimate women and minorities.”
