They were frightening beautiful … yet dignified. Life itself is a wonderful thing. That’s why we must cherish and protect it. However, we must not love our own lives too much. Then we couldn’t protect the lives of others.
It certainly is easier to avoid spilling blood by averting your eyes and letting others ensure your safety. If you so choose that, when you do that, you’ll get used by those others for their own purposes, and you’ll have no right to complain.
