California State Senator Leland Yee (D) wins Hypocrite of the Year award — 18 Comments

  1. I’m surprised they identified his party affiliation, they usually don’t if it’s a Demonrat.

  3. I’m astounded by the type of Yee’s corruption. We’re all familiar with the usual corruption. It’s usually a pretty simple exchange, campaign money for government favors, maybe help out one of the pol’s relative along the way, like the Clinton pardon-buying or Harry Reid redistributing campaign funds to his granddaughter.

However, Yee was dealing with violent local gangsters, international terrorist groups, Russian arms dealers, etc. Sounds more like the plot of a bad 80’s movie than something your typical politician could pull off.

  4. From reading his Wiki page, it appears to me that he lives in San Francisco and represents a district in the Central Valley. Is that kosher? Legal?

I am surprised that the FBI is still party-neutral enough to go after a Demo politician.

  5. Well, Lizzy, he couldn’t pull it off. But if you go look at the Alinsky post you won’t be astounded by this level of hypocrisy, self-centeredness, and venality.

He had just lost an expensive election for Mayor of San Francisco, and he wanted to run for a statewide office. He asked the undercover FBI agent for campaign contributions. That’s why he did it. He’d do anything to be in power.

  6. Gringo, he lived in San Francisco and represented part of San Francisco and San Mateo county. Which is just to the south on the peninsula.

  7. “However, Yee was dealing with violent local gangsters…. ”

Yee has learned from the way the machine operates in Cook County. Organized crime is a cog in the ‘Chicago Way’ which has not changed since the 1920-1933 prohibition era although now it sports a more sophisticated, multicultural facade. Everything is up for sale in Chicago.

  8. I’ve only volunteered for Democrats, so I can’t compare to what party politics are like with Republicans, but even ‘clean’ party politics is survival of the fittest, dog eat dog, and you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.

Corrupt deal-making is only a slide step away from normal political deal-making.

Yee’s story is pretty dramatic, though. There’s corrupt, and then there’s Steven Seagal, kidnap the hero’s daughter or niece, movie-villain corrupt.

  9. This is as close to treason as I’ve seen recently. Even Snowden had a cover story, but there doesn’t seem to be any acceptable answer to what this guy is charged with.

  10. I’m surprised anyone is surprised by such corruption. I will say, though, that this is exactly the reason why so many who firmly believe in the Constitutional RKBA obstinately refuse to give in anymore on that subject. Why do we need more laws proposed by such legislators as Yee when there are more than enough laws already on the books? That and the fact that far too many who are gun-grabbers have their own armed private security, whether provided by government or business (see: Bob Costas, major hypocrite, or Barack Owebama, of F&F infamy, another major hypocrite).

So while the clarion call of ‘Sandy Hook’ enrages gun grabbers, the Leland Yees of the political world resonates with those who wish to keep their firearms.

  11. Good point. Yee should be invoked every time a gun-grabber speaks from now on. Do we want to entrust our safety to someone who is illegally running guns to terrorists?

  12. What people think they know about the Leftist alliance’s operations is only the tip of the iceberg. Imagine the child and sex slave trafficking they are engaging that you don’t know about…

  13. How is it the Fibbies are still allowed by Holder and Hussein to go after good Democrats like chinaman Yee and the just-arrested black mayor (Cannon) of Charlotte NC?

  14. I can concur, Yee is one of the biggest gun grabbers in California, along with Steinberg. His mission of late has been to ban the sale of AR-15s (thankfully he has failed).

I believe the only reason he was running for Sec. of State here in CA and not state senator is because his district is changing.

Makes you wonder – banning a semi-automatic rifle while trafficking fully automatic weapons and rocket launchers..

  15. @ Don Carlos

Michelle Malkin has a theory that they are sweeping the Democratic stables so that before the 2014 elections it will all be “old news.” In conjunction with this, she guesses there will be an “unexpected” rash of Republican indictments right before the elections…when there isn’t enough time to respond to allegations, and they do maximum damage.

I guess we’ll see, but any coincidental rash of indictments will be awfully easy to blame on a weaponized bureaucracy, especially in light of what we know about the IRS now.
