HAPPY ST. PADDY’S DAY to you all. That was great, Neo. I am making my St. Paddy’s Day dinner. Corned Beef, Cabbage, and Colcannon. Colcannon I make came from a recipe that I got in a Cooking Class many yr ago. Mashed Potatoes, with Leeks and Cale, plus lots of Butter. Unfortunately, no Irish Whisky or Guiness. Do have a nice Dark Beer though. Will try to find “The Quiet Man” to watch.

In honor of St Patrick’s day: One of the best historical novels I’ve ever read…’The Year of the French’, by Thomas Flanagan, is set in Ireland in 1798, when the French revolutionary government landed 1000 troops in County Mayo to support indigenous Irish rebels, with the objective of overthrowing British rule in Ireland. Ralph Peters calls it “the finest historical novel written in English, at least in the twentieth century.” My review:
The Democrat Media is leading with the Kent resignation instead of the big story, which is that Iran enforcer Larijani was eliminated. Apparently other Iran gangsters were also eliminated.
A pity that here in the U.S., all St.Patrick’s Day celebrations are just celebrating ethanol. Beck in my deputy days, it meant a lot of paperwork, and probably a car crash.
Those brothers can dance up a storm, can’t they?
Wretchardthecat had an interesting post today:
“In retrospect the Global World was excessively dependent on chokepoints controlled by terror groups and theocracies for decades. These narrow points, like mountain passes, could be crossed only by their leave. They were passable only at their pleasure.
Rather than mitigate supply chain risk, the Global World for ideological and economic reasons, increased their dependence without corresponding insurance, either in the form of stockpiles, alternative suppliers or military forces. They relied instead on the charlatans who offered “international law” as a substitute for physical security. ”
The US got caught during the Covid hysteria concerning the supply chain issues and perhaps that is why Trump is concerned about on-shoring a lot of critical supplies. A lot of the tariff trade deals were about access to materials and returning production to the US.
Trump doesn’t need the EU and other allies to supply minesweepers for the Gulf, but their refusal to become involved in the situation to protect their source of oil indicates that they still have their heads in the sand.
It is remarkable how the Europeans (except Poland, the Baltics, and the scandis) can bleat about President Trump but can’t seem to have a national defense or care about Iran having nukes. But then the Brits, French, an Germans seem hell bent on becomming dhimini in their own lands.
Worthless.
Ditto down on that, om.
Really great tap dancing, reminding me of the tap classes I took at Stanford. The shoes were pretty good quality leather from my 2 years at USNA, and I was happy to have a good use for them.
Tap is kinda easy to do a little bit, but gets harder. At a medium rate. Faster than folk dance or modern dance, not as fast as ballroom dance. For me. (I took lots of dance classes.) I can’t play any instruments & don’t like to practice any like piano nor guitar, but most dance classes are also fun as one is learning.
Have lots of girls to few guys in the classes was also good, much better than math or engineering classes.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day.
It’s good to get rid of the top bad guys in any bad regime. Hope Trump doesn’t stop until there is some regime change — with mostly Iranian boots on the ground. Unlikely such boots will be tap dancing, tho.
Joe Kent in the news, saying there was no immediate threat from Iran, and ergo the Propaganda Media pounces on Trump like a cat and mouse.
Sláinte agus táinte! translates to “Health and wealth!” in English
Speaking of Joe Kent, Glen Beck had a reaction to Kent’s resignation letter that is worth listening to.
I’ve taken some of the transcript where Beck is reading the letter and reacting to it’s contents. The resignation letter is in blockquotes, and Beck’s reaction is in BOLD.
[Joe Kent] watches over, you know, global military. He used to be in military intel. There’s something just happened that is remarkably, historic. I want to read it to you. This comes from the director of national intelligence and national counterterrorism center, Joseph Kent.
“President Trump, after much reflection, I’ve decided to resign from my position as director of the National Counterterrorism Center effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.”
I know this is so damaging. This is this is Pentagon Papers stuff. This is as important as the Pentagon Papers. This is going to possibly change the course of America.
“I support the values of foreign policies that you campaigned on in 2016 which you enacted in your first term. Until June of 2025, you understood that wars in the Middle East were a trap that robbed America of the precious lives of our patriots and depleted the wealth and prosperity of our nation. In your first administration, you understood better than any modern president how to decisively apply military power without getting us drawn into a never-ending war. You demonstrated this by killing Solommani and defeating ISIS. Early in this administration, high ranking Israeli officials and influential members of the American media deployed a misinformation campaign that wholly undermined your American first platform and sowed pro-war sentiments to encourage a war with Iran. This echo chamber was used to deceive you into believing that Iran posed an imminent threat to the United States.”
This is incredible. You can say a lot of things, but to say that Donald Trump is a dupe and has been duped by a foreign power because he wasn’t smart enough to figure it out is absolutely insane. Insane.
“That you should strike now when there was a clear path to a swift victory. This was a lie and it is the same tactic the Israelis used to draw us into a disaster Iraq war that cost our nation the lives of thousands of our best men and women. We cannot make this mistake again.”
This is going to set the world on fire.
“As a veteran who deployed to combat 11 times, and as a gold star husband who lost my beloved wife Shannon in a war manufactured by Israel, I cannot support sending the next generation off to fight and die in a war that serves no benefit to the American people, nor justifies the cost of American lives. I pray you will reflect upon what you are doing in Iran and who we are doing it for. The time for bold action is now. You can reverse course and chart a new path for our nation. Or you can allow us to slip further toward decline and chaos. You hold the cards. It was an honor to serve in your administration and to serve our great nation.” –Joseph Kent.
This is a senior in official intelligence saying in real time that the United States has entered a war under false pretenses, that Israel got us into the first war in Iraq and now they duped the American president into fighting this war. This is going to fracture public trust. This is the worst letter that could be done that I have ever seen if you want to hold uh if you’re if you’re if thing. Our allies now are going to be questioning our judgment. Our enemies are going to exploit this like crazy. The war effort now, if you don’t think you have given aid and comfort to Iran, you just have. You’ve told them exactly what I’m telling you right now. It’s going to be bad. It’s going to be bad. I don’t know how you survive things like this because this guy has just taken gasoline and thrown tanks of it into a bonfire that was already burning. And that fire that is burning is not the Islamic fires but the –the Jews are bad fires. This is probably the most serious break, internal break over a war decision in modern history. Never seen anything like this.
I had heard someone else talking about this resignation, but the way Beck describes it, I think, is how damning this letter is going to be. Tucker Carlson could only wish he could do something as damaging.
It’s one thing to be critical of tactics. But for an official of the government to do it at this critical portion of a two week old war is potentially devastating. It’s as if the America Only [alt-right] Left is trying to save the Islamic Republic of Iran– because if the Islamic regime falls, what may fall with it was the best chance to destroy Israel with it.
Oil pumping from existing wells off the California coast is restarting and the locals are restless. This is a result of the President invoking the defense production act and signing an executive order directing the pumping. The company that owns the wells, Sable Offshore oil, has shown a good ability to fight it out in court with California enviros.
The letter will be forgotten in a week. Kent was pushed out because he was leaking classified information. Because of that he was kept out of the loop when the decision to attack was made, nor was he informed of the new intelligence.

One again Glen Beck is full of himself and IMO full of sh*t.
I don’t need AI to figure out that Glen is quite often a panic whore.
See the recent neo post about pundits unmoored.
InstaPundit has a few links about Joe Kent (not to be confused with Clark Kent), for example bonchie (of RedState.com) says he is a new member of the Tucker Candice alliance.
Anyway here is a link to another RedState.com article about mild mannered Joe Kent (not to be confused with Superman).
om, I don’t follow Beck, so I can’t say whether or not he’s a “panic whore.” Apparently you listen to him enough to make that characterization.
Chuck’s accusation that Kent was leaking classified information seems pretty serious.
The honorable thing would have been for Kent to resign quietly. Instead, he posted his resignation on X to apparently get maximum value to hurt the effort in Iran and stir up more chaos in the country.
What is the most aggravating part of the letter was this: “you understood better than any modern President how to decisively apply military power without getting us drawn into never-ending wars.”
Kent ended his resignation with: “It was an honor to serve in your administration…”
After what he wrote throughout the letter, I almost suffered whiplash with that.
Is there a definition of a “never-ending war”? It certainly can’t mean a three-week war, or even a two month war.
It took us almost four years to win WWII.
I wish even the isolationists would at least give it 60 days. The President will have to go to congress then anyway.
I love how Kent and His cabal are wailing about the all powerful Israeli lobby. Yeah? So awfully powerful that American Jews clustered in and around NYC could not stop a Jew-hating genocidal Islamist from winning the Mayor’s office of NYC? The question answers itself.
I suspect that somehow Kent has snapped into self-righteous pity and projection.

When Glen Beck goes into his “panic whore” mode I turn the radio off.
It isn’t his default mode, but he does need ratings.
He isn’t a Tucker, Meghan, or Candice. But not always trustworthy in his assessments. If you haven’t heard him over the years, don’t assume he is credible.
