Trump to send federal troops… — 56 Comments

  1. Something to add into the mix, especially for us in Blueland Chicago, is the all but absent reporting of violence. Few of my friends and neighbors read beyond the traditional local sources, the Tribune, WGN, and the local affiliate network sites. The media hides the truth. The secondary media tell the story, but 1 in 10 read into these sources. Few know, for example, that rioting/looting took place again last weekend on the Mag Mile, that Bloomingdale’s was trashed once more. They continue to be fed a steady diet of wokeness and victimhood.

  2. I don’t think any responsible, repeat responsible, President could sit idly and watch what has been going on in some of the worst cities. It is not just that people’s livelihoods are being burned and looted out of business; it is the slaughter of innocents in places like Chicago.

If this causes Trump the election, he can leave with head held high; and the rest of us can try to prepare for the worst. Some are already preparing. I read on another site just now that over 200,000 rounds of ammunition have been sold in the past few weeks. This is to legal buyers. Unfortunately, we don’t know how many rounds the bad guys have acquired through their sources.

  3. I tend to agree with parker. For my part, it’s purely on p.r. grounds: I think the Trump-is-a-fascist narrative will win out. Hope I’m wrong.

  4. Frankns. Rush talked about the lack of reporting the other day. He claimed that rioting has been going on in many cities but the reporting has been suppressed because the public is very much against it. It doesn’t play well in Peoria.

  5. Ahhhhh yes Trump a fascist. I keep hearing this. And every time i point out that using their logic. Selma should have remained segregated so those fascist federal storm troopers could stay way.

As an act of will i am choosing to believe the majority who believe this garbage are simply ignorant. Because every other alternative I can think of is worse.

For those that aren’t simply ignorant. I say bravo. After all this time you remain consistent. Anytime an area is ruled by Democrats they want the federal government to stay away.

  6. Paul … I believe it. In Blueland, you have to read Second City Cop, CWB, Chicago Contrarian and the like to get a clear enough picture. I read SCC for the information and avoid the emotion except as it gives me a window into CPD gut feeling. Crime in Wrigleyville and Boystown (CWB) is pretty thorough and even-handed. But none of these sources play well with friends and neighbors. They’re all pretty much BLM supporters. The signs are common enough in my neighborhood. That and the “No Home for Hate,” which dictates that any disagreement constitutes proof of my supposed hatred.

I grew up 90 miles North of here and remain mystified at Chicagoans disgruntled political misery. I suppose BLM makes them feel like they are finally “doing something” meaningful. That’s crazy-think, I know. But filtered news certainly supports their craziness.

  7. Oldflyer, where did that 200,000 rounds of ammo sold come from? I personally know someone, a woman, who bought 30,000 rounds through a bulk ammo site, and the gun stores here in Tucson are limiting purchases to one or two boxes per customer, if they even have any inventory, which many stores don’t. Even the bulk ammo sites are mostly out of stock on popular calibers, like 5.56 rifle, 9mm, .38 and .45 pistol ammo.

I’d say that number is radically off. There are over 300 million guns in private citizens’ hands. 200,000 rounds would provide 1 bullet for every 1500 guns.

  8. Trump to send Federal troops! Well, not exactly. He’s sending Federal law enforcement agents – FBI, ATF, DEA, U.S. Marshalls, and some others to enforce Federal law in these crime ridden cities. The gangs in Chicago are mostly fighting over drug turf. There are Federal drug and firearms laws being broken daily. These law enforcement agents will work with local law enforcement to go after the perps. When arrested by a Fed they will not walk away with little or no bail. They will be looking at stiff/or no bail, and if convicted, some hard time.

  9. If you don’t have at least 1,000 rounds per firearm you are a slacker. Learn to reload. Powder, primers, and bullets are the new currency along with water and food of the long term storage variety. I am amazed at how many on the right have failed to understand this simple lesson.

  10. parker, hunkering down as if in an Afghani cave is not a solution for 99% of us.
Yes, I own guns and ammo, and yes, I am prepared to use them. Fortunately in my part of the Southland everyone hunts, and us rednecks will rise to the occasion.
My policy for 20 years has been to keep a pistol at the ready in each of my vehicles.
Here you are not a man if you don’t have a pickup truck!

  11. Of course leftist politicians and a complicit mainstream media are hoping this is a lose/lose for Trump. And, they may be right, unfortunately. But in the end, duty must play a central role here. I don’t know if this will be a benefit, a detriment or neutral to Trump’s re-election prospects (my guess is, probably neutral). But in the end, he has a Constitutional duty above and beyond electioneering.

To those who say “let it burn”, I understand the impulse, but consider what this entails: destruction of an economic base and certain infrastructure which are vital to the well-being of many, including many quite disadvantaged people. Yes, leftist local politicians are derelict, bordering on treacherous, in their duties. Yes, they are propped up by a voter base that has been thoroughly brainwashed and/or beaten into submission by years of cultural Marxist programming. Yes, in a perfect world, they would get hefty dose of tough love and would, at some point, truly understand the connections and consequences of all of their asinine posturing and virtue signaling. But that is highly unlikely to happen. In the meantime, “we” (meaning Americans as a whole and their President…any President) have a duty to protect our cities.

  12. Trump really wants to win in November, This is a test run. He will be sending Federal troops to all large cities in swing states at the end of October. Mark my words. He doesn’t care about law and order. He cares about winning. He thinks he has found a way. Suppress the vote by scaring citizens from voting.

  13. parker,

Useful advice provided that the supplies are located in a defensible location. Preparation without a defensible position is storing for the lawless.

Anyone living in a blue city needs first to identify what for them is a viable bug out location. Supplies need to be already prepositioned at that location.

A decisive mental attitude is essential; as he who hesitates too long will be lost. Better a wasted trip out of the city than waiting too long out of uncertainty.

Best is to live out of the city in a defensible location with like minded neighbors.

If Trump is reelected and escapes assassination, we have another four years to prepare. If Biden is elected, no more than a year or two and perhaps even less. Once the Left regains the Presidency, I suspect the Left will seek to ensure that the right lacks the means for resistance. Severe restrictions on ammo sales is the obvious first move.

  14. Trump needed to do something or he appears weak. The Portland mayor may have climbed Mount Everest, but he is pathetic and does not know how to govern. Chicago’s mayor is in a job that is way over her head. Minneapolis’s mayor and Minnesota’s Governor are weak individuals. What is happening in the States (as I sit half away around the world) is shocking and appalling. As a citizen, it saddens and angers me at how our country has forgotten to govern and our media refuses to report the truth.
I think the American Public is a lot smarter that politicians realise. This ‘pony show’ of rioting protests has contributed to 4 million dollars in sales of guns to first time gun ownership, people moving away to safer havens and people leaving the Democrat party.

    Good example;

    https://townhall.com/tipsheet/bethbaumann/2020/07/15/watch-civil-rights-attorney-leo-terrell-lays-out-every-issue-he-has-with-democra-n2572579

Order needs to be restored. Our elected officials need to leave the halls of ignorant, nasty, catty, and idiotic high school behaviour. They need to grow up and do their job.

  15. Montage – Who do you know who would be scared by law enforcement at polling sites? The only people who will be scared from voting in November are the sheep who still are bleating about COVID-19 and unfortunate souls trapped in areas where polling places will be well-attended by BLM/Antifa types.

  16. Montage,

You sir are full of bullpucky. None of your assertions are reasoned as they conflict with factual reality, which if you had a lick of common sense you’d have realized some time ago. Nor, after your long perusal of this blog can you claim ignorance of reasoned argument on these issues.

“Ignorance is curable, stupid is forever.” R.A. Heinlein

  17. Remember, police departments are controlled by mayors. Police will not go against a mayor’s directive, because it would put their pension at risk. This is why Portland has had riots for five weeks. The police know who the rioters are, and where they live. But they will not risk that pension by crossing Mayor Ted.

In Minneapolis, 1/4 of the police have filed for PTSD disability. There’s a little wrinkle in the law that makes it pretty easy to get. A council member says she knew about the wrinkle, but you know, bike lanes were more important.

The lawyer who specializes in such claims says there will be many more.

  18. Ackler,

The “let it burn” people I think are just coming to a particular realization. That in our current climate there is essentially no definable area in which the sides can agree. For instance “de fund the police” is recognizably abolish the police. There is not any possible compromise. Its an either or proposition.

And year after year it only gets worse. Since Trump was elected. You have heard almost nothing from the Democrats about simply winning the next election. The more reasonable among them simply want him impeached. Many would quite vocally prefer more draconian measures. Again there is little middle ground in which to agree upon.

  19. Montage

Sorry, Trump’s goal is not suppressing the vote. That is laughable at best. The rioting protesters and the Democratic Party are trying to scare people from voting or harvest votes for a BS win. Whether you like Trump or not, he is fairly easy to read. The last thing he wants is conflict with citizens. Reporters, that is a different story.

  20. “Our elected officials need to leave the halls of ignorant, nasty, catty, and idiotic high school behaviour. They need to grow up and do their job.” JHCorcoran

Are not their thinking and actions “prima facie” evidence of being incapable of maturity? Is not their election… demonstrable proof that much of the electorate that voted for them are equally immature? They’ll ‘grow up’ when reality forces them to grow up and, they are courting the harshest of consequential lessons.

  21. Montage,

I have seen this same crap since he was elected. All you have is supposition and hyperbole. All the terrible things the left predicted Trump would do never came to pass. And we are supposed to take you seriously? Credibility isnt a boomerang sport

  22. “Again there is little middle ground in which to agree upon.” Mythx

Agreed but with a caveat; as what can’t go on, won’t go on… we’ll reach ‘agreement’ when their behavior finally results in what for them is intolerable consequence…

  23. “Agreed but with a caveat; as what can’t go on, won’t go on… we’ll reach ‘agreement’ when their behavior finally results in what for them is intolerable consequence…”-Geoffrey Britain

I would like to post a quote from Larry Corriea’s blog that I have always found to be particularly astute

“A friend of mine who is a political activist said something interesting the other day, and that was for most people on the left political violence is a knob, and they can turn the heat up and down, with things like protests, and riots, all the way up to destruction of property, and sometimes murder… But for the vast majority of folks on the right, it’s an off and on switch. And the settings are Vote or Shoot Fucking Everybody. And believe me, you really don’t want that switch to get flipped, because Civil War 2.0 would make Bosnia look like a trip to Disneyworld.”

  24. As neo points out, the left believes this is a no-win situation for Trump. The left will hammer him no matter what he does.

At some point Trump must protect federal buildings and monuments. It’s a matter of timing and I leave that to Trump.

I believe a solid core of Americans supports Trump. They won’t be deceived and it will show at the ballot box in November.

  25. Montage:

Montage the mindreader rides again! Trump only wants to win! Every move he makes, every breath he takes, is all about winning the election – nothing else!

He has no principles and no other goals. If a certain action is consistent with what just about every other president prior to July, 2020 would have wanted, or what any normal human being would want – in other words, to reduce the extraordinarily high murder rate in cities run by far-leftist majors who refuse to protect their citizens – why, we can’t ascribe those normal goals to Trump. Can’t have that.

  26. Huxley,

I sincerely hope it never does. But sadly as the left becomes more intractable. Something will happen. And we will need the mushy middle to finally grow some spine. And realize you need to take a stand.

Or the fuse will be lit.

The left believes in de-platforming,doxxing and forcing people from public life. Anyone who even mildly disagrees with them is fair game. To them it means decreasing resistance to their ideology. The reality is it leaves no other outlet to resolve conflicts.

  27. “Montage the mindreader rides again! Trump only wants to win! Every move he makes, every breath he takes, is all about winning the election – nothing else!”- NEO

    Projection thy name is Montage

  28. Mythx,

I agree there is little common ground and little room for any compromise. And I wholeheartedly agree it has gotten exponentially worse in the last few years.

Furthermore, I fully (if sadly) acknowledge the right (and indeed what’s left of the center) has no chance of prevailing if it continuously takes the ‘high road’. As disheartening and distasteful as it may be: to fight the left effectively, we have to resort to their tactics, their ethos, their standards (or lack thereof) much of the time. Trump realized this before I did, before many conservatives did, and for that I will always be grateful to him. This is a street fight, metaphorically and (tragically) literally more and more often. We need to treat it as such.

That said, we still have certain basic duties to our cities and to our fellow citizens. Those cities have scores of people who don’t agree with the leftist saturated ideology upon which their leaders are intoxicated. They don’t deserve to be cast into the abyss.

  29. Huxley

I believe a solid core of Americans supports Trump. They won’t be deceived and it will show at the ballot box in November.

    I agree.

  30. I’m with Oldflyer on this – any responsible president should be doing this. I don’t see it being about federal buildings, landmarks, etc. Yes, those matter. But, the loss of innocent lives matter more. No president with even the slightest amount of responsibility could sit idly in the white house while our inner cities are taken over by thugs and burn with local politicians doing nothing; or worse, are fanning the flames.

I think the left is banking on this being a win/win for them as Neo says. But, I also think that the left hasn’t been able to think outside the box and realize that inner-city folks are not just going to knee-jerk vote Democrat in November.

Sure, Inner city folks might still vote Democrat for the local races; but, they are going to remember that Trump sent law enforcement to help them in these dire times.

  31. I have friends in Portland. They dislike BLM and the left but they tell me the Fed troops coming is troubling and that the protests have actually gotten worse.

  32. “Trump really wants to win in November”

Probably not as much as montage wants him to lose.

“I have friends in Portland. They dislike BLM and the left”

You’ve been playing this faux-moderate game for a few weeks but you identified yourself as a troll long ago and no one is falling for it. Sorry charlie.

  33. I wish to slip in a word here regarding our friend Montage.

Yes, *friend*, even as most of us here disagree with him/her (dunno which).

I appreciate exposure to a perspective among us neo-phile commenters that otherwise usually won’t be enunciated here. I, too, generally tend to disagree with Montage’s perspectives, but I am glad s/he will stick his/her neck out and bravely state his/her case, knowing that whenever s/he sows the wind, s/he much more often than not is sure to reap the whirlwind.

Carry on, folks . . . cheers to one and all (even Montage [smile]) . . .

  34. Ackler,

I have no intention of leaving those behind. I think it will be the right’s duty to defend them. Frankly as the vast majority of police and military(non command) are on the right. We arguably already have been.
But sadly many will simply take the path of least resistance. Until they are personally betrayed they wont take sides. In the long run that will just increase the pain to everyone involved. I dont believe for one second that the hard left is really that numerous. Just that they are utterly ruthless, giving the impression they are more than they appear. But until there is a preference cascade. The deterioration of public discourse will continue.

  35. Because, as I say regularly, I am viewing the crisis from Perth Western Australia I have no ‘on the ground’ sense of how the election and the broader socio-cultural process is going to work out. Family and friends in US are firmly in the anti Trump camp. I note Neo and many of my fellow commenters repeatedly express a high degree of pessimism – which I have to take seriously. To zoom back, in my view, the left has well and truly won the culture war and the US may well have to undergo a Marxist phase. Pack the court then legislate away constitutional protections – 2nd Amendment, electoral college, population based election of senators. The dream of “One man, one vote, one time one party rule. ” seems within their grasp. Such an outcome is a real and present danger partly because I think most Americans including many on the right can’t distinguish between social democracy as practiced in Europe (and Australia) and various forms of one party totalitarian Marxism. For example the right misses the point when they characterise Elizabeth Warren as as a hard core leftist. As an Australian I see her as simply a social democrat like our Australian Labor party – proposing policy changes that come straight out of Germany and Sweden. As for this blindness on the left the image of George Clooney’s bright eyed adulation of the regime in Venezuela forces its way onto my inner movie screen. But what Neo and most commenters here see clearly is that what the university Marxists and their SJW spawn are currently perpetrating comes directly from the the hard core totalitarian left. In particular, out of the 30s German communist movement via the Frankfurt School – Horkheimer and Adorno specifically – with an, oh so red, Alinsky cherry on top. My father, who came of age in the 30s used the phrase ‘boring from within” to describe this communist tactic. To see it graphically Google IMAGE “Antifa flag German communist party 1932”. Antifaschistische Aktion…. how ‘boring’.

  36. Must-read from Heather Mac Donald, which summarizes and puts into perspective the current apocalypse:

    https://imprimis.hillsdale.edu/four-months-unprecedented-government-malfeasance/

(four months but only three horsemen so far – when the White Horse shows up, it’s all over)
    https://www.britannica.com/topic/four-horsemen-of-the-Apocalypse

Four horsemen of the Apocalypse, in Christianity, the four horsemen who, according to the book of Revelation (6:1–8), appear with the opening of the seven seals that bring forth the cataclysm of the apocalypse.

The first horseman rides a white horse, which scholars sometimes interpret to symbolize Christ; the second horseman rides a red horse and symbolizes war and bloodshed [urban riots will do for the USA, but the Middle East and China are world contenders]; the third rides a black horse and symbolizes famine [not quite there yet – missing your favorite bistro doesn’t count – but it could happen]; and the fourth horseman rides a pale horse and represents pestilence and death [got that one in spades].

  37. Ackler,

I agree that we do have basic duties to our fellow citizens and that many, many do not deserve to be cast into the abyss.

That said, you yourself point out that, “As disheartening and distasteful as it may be: to fight the left effectively, we have to resort to their tactics, their ethos, their standards (or lack thereof) much of the time.”

The most intense of fires must be fought with fire.

Gen. Sherman put it best, “War is cruelty and you cannot refine it.”

Israel’s Golda Meir put her finger on the deepest aspect of the tragedy that is war; “We can forgive [the Arabs] for killing our children. We cannot forgive them for forcing us to kill their children.”

    Lorenz Gude,

“the left has well and truly won the culture war and the US may well have to undergo a Marxist phase. Pack the court then legislate away constitutional protections – 2nd Amendment, electoral college, population based election of senators.”

Arguably, we’ve already entered a Marxist phase, at least in the schools and arguably in many corporations.

As for packing the court, the litany of extra constitutional rulings, rulings that violate the very Constitutional principles the SC has on the right, greatly lessened respect for that institution. A failure to allow the legislating away of our rights will end them.

But it is a mistake to imagine that we on the right will accept that our constitutional protections can be ‘legislated away’. The Left will certainly attempt to do that because eliminating the Second Amendment is absolutely necessary to the implementation of their agenda.

But when they do attempt to legislate away the right to bear arms… it will be the trigger wire to the second American Civil War. Having rejected the premise of a beneficent creator, what leftists don’t get is that rights are not privileges. So by definition “unalienable rights” cannot be legislated away. Upon this most basic of principles does liberty rest.

  38. “… this blindness on the left…”

That’s an optimistic take on it, which might be justified except for the sheer hatred they feel for their political opponents, their determined demonization of the latter, and their eager willingness to believe most everything that spews forth from a corrupt and psychotic media (so that they can feel even more hatred, more spite, more demonization?—since all this, as witnessed by the original “two-minute hate”, which itself has metastisized into “all hate all the time”, may well perform a function similar to a pleasure-inducing drug…).

Thus it seems in all too many cases to be a WILLFUL blindness that refuses to acknowledge it is blind (with shades of much of post-1933 Germany?).

Which ought leave one with nothing but contempt for the Democratic Party and its soulless, propagandizing zealots in the MSCM, both of which entities see their role as playing the piper with “passionate intensity”—leading their followers, some ill-used but many of them more than willing, toward the abyss, even as they declare it to be the promised land…

  39. Humorous tidbit of the day:

Hmmm. Actually, not too many are out there at the moment—a state of affairs more than made up for by plenty of irony, hypocrisy and sheer absurdity, though.

This particular tidbit is a bit mordant but will have to do for the time being, as first the mayor of Seattle and now the mayor of Oakland appear to be “capitulating” to common sense. (Or—shocking!!!—self-interest, perhaps?)

Is this a west coast phenomenon? One does sense a welcome “flexibility” in both cases (or could it possibly be “collusion”!?)
    https://hotair.com/archives/john-s-2/2020/07/22/oakland-mayor-libby-schaafs-home-vandalized-protesters/

Whatever. It will no doubt surprise many but certain—breakaway(?)—elements of the Democratic Party seem to have almost overnight adopted a “Get Off My Lawn” policy (at least for themselves). The start of a larger trend? Or merely the same old, same old “for me but not for thee”…? (Or maybe the Politburo will drum them out of the party…)

  40. Ackler

Article 4 of the Constitution states ” The United States shall guarantee to every state in this Union a [r]epublican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on application of the legislature, or of the executive (when the legislature cannot be convened) against domestic violence.”

I see no obligation upon the President to take any action in Portland, or any other city, other than protecting federal property. If the “good” people in Portland want the protection from domestic violence that the Constitution offers them, it is up to them to convince their legislature or their governor to request it. Until that happens, the Federal agents would not know who the enemy is.

The US has learned from long experience that we cannot save people who do not want to be saved. If we do go into any of these blue cities in force, we should declare martial law in that city as a condition of our entry.

  41. Thanks for your direct reactions Geoffrey Britain and Barry Meislin.

@ Geoffrey I fully recognise that the US is in a ‘Marxist phase’ and has been for generations. I did not always understand this clearly – like in 68 when Abbie Hoffman slept at my house while leading riots at the Democratic convention. I could only feel there was something about him that repelled me. I now see that what repelled me about all the true radicals I encountered in those days was that they hated the idea of America and wanted to destroy it. What I mean by ‘Marxist phase’ is an effectively one party Marxist government that will not relinquish power like the one in Zimbabwe I have experienced personally or the currently more familiar one in Venezuela. I do not mean a social democratic government that would respect an orderly change of government when voted out as such as those here in Australia and in Europe.

I agree that such a takeover could well trigger a civil war the moment the 2nd amendment is legislated away. What the ATF feebs would walk into would make Waco look like a kindergarten party. As to the military, well, we recently heard from the Swamp Generals, but would the troops fire on the people? One party governments fall when the people and the Army become one – as was demonstrated for the second time in a century when the Russian military refused to fire on the Russian White House ie parliament. I agree emphatically about the unalienable nature of human rights. Totalitarians just completely miss that.

@Barry I think the blindness is extremely unconscious as well as willful. The Democrats tipped their lack of awareness when they called for the Electoral College voters to be unfaithful and vote for Hillary. Perhaps the strongest early indicator of how far gone they are was Obama’s persisting with Crossfire Hurricane AFTER, Trump’s election and Susan Rice not noticing that the change in Government was real until inauguration day. As far as I can see they remain unconscious and you can read what they are thinking by what they accuse Trump of. As others have pointed out – that phenomena is the psychological defense mechanism of projection. They have never stopped. They fooled the electorate in 2018 and it dicey business for us to judge the effect of their psychotic doubling down on the electorate. We know it is causing people to ‘WalkAway”. We just don’t know how many. And may God Bless Candice Owens – she may be the difference in the end. And know also that Infinity, by whatever name, underlies all the comings and goings of this world.

  42. The Federal Govt cannot legally send any enforcement details or soldiers to a city unless they are invited to do so by the city and/or state officials.
So for those who insist Trump do so (or really any president), the president’s hands are tied.
The Federal presence in Portland is there only to protect Federal property; they can legally do nothing else.

The reality of the mess in Seattle and Portland and NYC, is that the govt.officials there approve of ANTIFA and BLM and the methods these groups use.

So yesterday the execrable Mayor of Portland thought by addressing the “mob,” he could demonstrate his sympathy for and his “radical cred” with the mob and have them cheer and applaud him, which would have made headlines all across the media.
(I can see the headlines now: “Ted Wheeler for US President !!)
    He instead got booed.
    Boo-hoo.
Unfortunately, a Molotov cocktail directed at his head was not forthcoming, because he sure deserves one. Let’s hope the mob does to his home and city hall, what they do nightly in downtown Portland.
    And why not?
He has no problem whatsoever allowing the businesses and property of ordinary citizens to be destroyed; what ‘s good for the goose is good for the gander.
Ditto for the Oregon and Washington governors and Seattle/NYC mayors.

Perhaps – but I doubt it – being at the wrong end of a fast moving fire bomb directed at their head may – but I doubt it – knock some sense into them – but I doubt it.

Supporting a cause is risk free when one has no skin in the game; when one’s socio-economic position and political power render one exempt and immune to the consequences of the policies one encourages.
When the worst that can happen to them is losing an election, and be forced to live on a generous lifetime pension and free medical insurance; all paid for by the average Joe/Jane taxpayer; you know, the Joe/Jane that these politicians hold in contempt.
Oh, yea, and get paid big $$$$ to be an “expert” commentator on CNN, etc.

Until the powerful and influential political supporters of ANTIFA / BLM find themselves on the receiving end of their terror and violence, the Portland “show” will go on there and in other places.

As for the execrable mayor of Chicago….. well, what can you say. She KNEW well, well before (who didn’t ??) she ran for Mayor, the disaster that is Chicago. One would think that she wished to be Mayor because she had a plan to begin solving the violence there; where children get shot dead.
    NOPE !!
Then why the F**k did she run for mayor??
Of course, you can say the same thing about Obama’s crony, Rahm Emanuel, who did ZERO about the daily shootings/murders there, as did Obama.
So why do these folks run for office??

Sadly, because of their quest for influence, power and fame; to satisfy their ego.

Lightfoot should be forced to live within the inner city of Chicago without any personal police protection.
How long would it then take her to find a solution to the daily shootings/killings?

The killings in Chicago are allowed to go on because, and ONLY because, the innocent victims are black. The situation there would last about 10 minutes if white gangs were shooting up a white area.

Black “leaders” there, and apparently all across the USA, realize that the white dominated demokrat party butters their bread; it allows them (e.g. Sharpton, et. al.) and other black millionaires/ billionaires to visit the White House (when the dems are president) and “hang” with other white/black millionaire/billionaires during WH concerts, parties, social gatherings, etc.
Hey, they can even get a free cruise on a gigantic private yacht of some white billionaire !!!

As for the average law abiding inner city black person.- the victims of all the shootings, including children….well, they are the cannon fodder, the eggs that must be broken to make an omelette, the lemmings that must be run off the the cliff, to enable the liberal progressive elites – both black and white- to achieve positions of political power, influence and wealth.

Unfortunately, voters are choosing their poison; they are allowing these greedy, ego driven opportunists – in Portland, Seattle, NYC, Chicago, etc., – to use them as stepping stones to be stomped on and destroyed.

For the umpteenth time: the greatest threat a representative democracy faces is the citizenry, in free elections, voting for a national suicide.

  43. The Federal Govt cannot legally send any enforcement details or soldiers to a city unless they are invited to do so by the city and/or state officials.

    Not true.

  44. Barry Meislin: ‘all this, as witnessed by the original “two-minute hate”, which itself has metastisized into “all hate all the time”, may well perform a function similar to a pleasure-inducing drug’.

I’ve thought for a long time that the sheer pleasure of hating is a big driver of our current divisions. There’s plenty of it on both sides, but I think it’s especially effective on the left because leftists tend to have little or no awareness that the emotion they feel toward the right is in fact plain old hate. I think it’s especially true of the young women who are driving so much of this, though hardly limited to them. In their minds their whole stance is opposition to “hate.” So, in a sort of emotional syllogism, what they feel is by definition not-hate.

I laughed out loud a few days ago when an acquaintance of mine–a man in his sixties, not a young woman–who is well known for fairly nasty verbal attacks on his ideological opponents asserted that his heart is full of love and peace.

Kneeled… until, her life and family were threatened by the fascists they groomed, and Some, Select Black Lives Matter sect of the Progressive Church.

  46. Mac, it seems to me that we’ve been overlooking the aphrodisiac angle. On the other hand, with all the gyms closed, maybe it’s the only way for those “youngsters” to work out in any meaningful way (though the tear gas isn’t great for aerobics). That and the huge adrenalin rush from being on the front lines. Perhaps.

In any event, the Democrats descent to the ninth level of Self-Parody (mistaking it, no doubt, for the ninth sphere of Paradise)…is breathtaking:

  47. Thank you all, both Neo and commentators because this mornings posting about Federal enforcement in major cities being built up J.J. above stated it clearly, Federal Enforcement has the authority, the right and the obligation to go anywhere in the US and arrest and bring to trial any persons breaking Federal. Creating safe zones to keep Federal Officers away from persons suspected of breaking Federal Laws is total nonsense.

The other point that was well made is the amount of information that has been given to a majority of the population has been so slanted, sifted and stained to give an incomplete picture of reality in order to make Trump the bad guy against all the pure goodness and wonderful intentions of the enlightened left.

Even when the Troll Montage sticks its head out from under the bridge that helps liven things up which is just fine. Thank you, you all.

  48. We on the Right are way too concerned about following the rules. Our opponents laugh and scorn us as they feverishly work to destroy the rules.
Strong countries are never destroyed by forces beyond their borders; they ALL die from internal rot. See Rome. See Great Britain. See Venezuela. See the USA.

Brian Papin, A Special Education Teacher At Cedar Grove High School In Atlanta, Suggests Killing White Toddler In Viral Photo

Ohio local news had this to say:

A picture of the post was sent into News Center 7 Tuesday, showing the man with his knee on the back of a child’s neck, who appears to be crying. A second person in the photo is holding the child’s hands behind their back. The caption of the photo reads “Blm now.”

The photo resembles the action taken by Minneapolis police officers during the arrest of George Floyd May 25 that resulted in his death.Investigators in Clark County said they are investigating the post, however no arrests have been made and charges have not been filed.

“We are looking into this case, however it is still an active investigation. At this point we are actively looking into it and we are VERY early on into this investigation,” Maj. Chris Clark said in an emailed statement. According to emergency scanner traffic, deputies, police, and medics were called to two different addresses Tuesday morning in Clark County as a part of the investigation.

  50. John Tyler:

Yes, the president can legally send troops without invitation, to put down an insurrection. See this.

The political repercussions are a different story.

  51. Well, Mr. Wheeler, if you ever think you will NEED government help, don’t call Mr. Trump bad names… He’s got a gooooooooooooooooooooooood memory.
