I am extremely apprehensive about tomorrow — 8 Comments

  1. I have no idea how things will go, but I do know that here in CO, it will be bad. Higher taxes, no NG in future homes, anything goes for Trans, etc. I fully expect that my Rep, Gabe Evans, is toast. I think there is a stealth candidate here in CO too. This person is running vicious ads against Evans, not a word about the Dem. The Dem is also stealth, being really a DSA person.

At least the flyers in the mail, the ads on my streaming services will go away.

  2. If gas prices had come down then the GOP would have been fine. All a lot of people care about is their pocketbook. And gas prices are in their face several times a week. I hope I’m wrong but even Texas is going to elect that freak and others around. I think we’ll be ok here in Florida, but everywhere else…..

  3. I have, very regrettably, come to the conclusion that a significant number of people in this country, and worldwide as well, don’t know their ass from a hole in the ground.

neo, I think this is the deep underlying reason for your apprehensiveness. It’s forcing you realize that this is, in fact, the general state of humanity — maybe the default state. It isn’t pleasant to have to admit that this is the case. Good person that you are, you are troubled by it.

On occasion, especially when I was young, I was one of those people. I presently am not, and I can prove it. But not being one of those people requires constant vigilance, and effort.

  4. IrishOtter,

I agree…and just statistically, 50% of the population is on the wrong side of the IQ bell curve, then add in those on the higher side but with skewed morals, and there you go. My wife, more of an optimist and more forgiving of people, says that I have become too cynical. I think I’m just a realist.

  5. ”If gas prices had come down then the GOP would have been fine.”

I don’t know about the prices where you are, but here in Missouri gas prices are 10 cents / gallon *less* than what they were the day before the current Iran campaign started, and they’ve been under $4.00 / gallon for over a month.

I don’t think people will really be voting over gas prices, though that may be the excuse they use.

  6. Perhaps if the Dems do prevail tomorrow, things will be so bad over the next two years that enough of the electorate will see reality for what it is and return the GOP to power (Congress and the President) in 2028.

I addictively look at the RealClear maps and count-meters all night (till about 11) – which is admittedly not necessarily reassuring even if the GOP is reasonably well ahead in a given race, as late-night dumps have been known to reverse things by morning.

  7. Reminder: Spanberger in Virginia ran on “affordability”.

And then raised taxes, re-entered the RGGI which will inevitably raise energy prices, instituted price caps on some medications which will inevitably reduce availability, raised the minimum wage which causes loss of entry level jobs and increased prices for everyone and has initiated a full court press against gun rights, which have been repeatedly ruled unconstitutional and have wasted untold hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars to (unsuccessfully) defend in court.

    Those are just the highlights.

Democrats lie about their intentions and they do so in such an obvious manner, it astounds me that virtually half the country is stupid enough to vote for them anyway.

  8. If I “tune in” it almost certainly will be reading political blogs, not watching TV. Even Fox will be insufferable.

The only thing giving me a modest amount of hope is the report that even creditable pollsters are getting very low response rates from Republicans compared to Democrats.
