School shooting in Canada – perp is alleged to have been trans
The terrible tragedy occurred in a small town in British Columbia, with at least seven victims dead at the school, and many more injured.
Initial reports were coy:
Authorities have only identified the shooter as a ‘female in a dress’.
But the later story is that the perp was 18-year-old Jesse Strang, “a biological male who identifies as a woman named Jess.” As with some other mass killers, he apparently started out by murdering two family members – his mother and a brother – went on to kill at least seven people at the school, and then killed himself.
At this point it’s quite clear that there’s a trend in recent school shootings towards perps who identify as trans. What might be going on?
“People who identify as trans” is not a unitary category. To start with, some are biological males and some – actually, the majority – are biological females. But those are hardly the only differences among them. Some – a higher-than-by-chance proportion – have a pre-existing autism or ADHD diagnosis (see this and this, for example). It is highly possible that, because of transgenderism’s recent rise in popularity, it attracts quite a few people with pre-existing problems and gives them an identity and support group.
Then there may be an amplification of problems for any number of reasons: surgical intervention may cause dysfunction and regret (although there’s no indication that any of the trans shooters have had surgery, and surgery is hardly a given within the trans population), social media support that magnifies anger at the world, and the administration of cross-sex hormones and/or puberty blockers. The hormones in particular are suspect, in my opinion. The male body is not meant to take in huge doses of females hormones, nor is the female body meant to be inundated with testosterone. If you look at the literature, however, you’ll see studies that say cross-sex hormone treatment improves mental health, and although of course that may be true for some, there are also many trans individuals who say the hormones messed with their minds and bodies. Many de-transitioners report that phenomenon as the motive for their reverting back to identifying as their biological sex.
School shooters are of course the exception and not the rule. So are trans people – which makes the intersection of the two a very noticeable and disturbing phenomenon.
RIP to the victims.
[NOTE: I am pretty sure that some readers will wonder if SSRIs were involved. I’ve written about the connection between SSRIs and violence in this post. I’ve also written about the connection between school shooters and fatherlessness here. In addition, please see this post about two previous school shooters who identified as trans.]

Sim or homo? Social or gender (i.e. sex-correlated attributes)? Some “burdens’ were aborted. Totally ethical and licit in the modern family.
there’s a trend in recent school shootings towards perps who identify as trans. What might be going on?
There’s perhaps a trend in reporting on them and discussion of them online. In order for there to be a real trend, there’d be rates by year or by month and you could determine how that rate was changing over time.
I don’t think anyone is actually doing this, or could, because what’s the denominator, “school shooting”, doesn’t have a universally accepted definition. What counts as a “school shooting” is so dependent on definition that even for 2025 different sources say there were as many as 233 and as few as one.
Since that “one” was not committed by someone who was transgendered, if that’s your standard then 0% of 2025 “school shootings” were perpetrated by transgender people, and the “trend” in “school shootings” is “toward” middle-aged Portuguese IT specialists who committed 100% of them in that year.
But if you go with the definition that gets you 233 school shootings in 2025, it’s the same demographic, the Most Diverse Demographic of All, that is disproportionately responsible for all violent crime in America that is also disproportionately responsible for school shootings.
But the denominator that gives us the impression of a trend in trans school shootings is “school shootings I read about online because the algorithm served them up to me or bloggers I follow were talking about them” and you can’t draw any valid trend conclusions about that. There won’t be agreement on the denominator and possibly not the numerator.
Something similar operates with serial killers: popular culture thinks they are disproportionately white, because those are the ones we read about and the ones that generate clicks, but in reality it’s once again the Most Diverse Demographic that is disproportionately represented among American serial killers.
RIP to the victims.
“mass shooting” currently is defined as four or more shot. No deaths are required to fit that. Many/most happen in big cities and the news usually stops at the edge of the metropolitan area.
The ones everybody is concerned about, where a bunch of white people get shot in a school or church, or maybe a shopping mall, are the “school shootings”. They invariably include meticulous planning and mental illness.
They are considerably fewer than the “mass shootings”, but the latter are sometimes drawn in to reduce the public’s concern about the shooters.
The Colorado Stem School shooting, where a bunch of guys jumped the shooter killed Kendrick Castillo, one of the heroes. The shooter was angry about his pronouns,
So if that means only three in….how many school shootings? If there are thirty, then it’s ten percent of the shooters were trans. If twenty, it’s fifteen percent. Of young Americans, about three percent identify as trans. So that would be three to five times their representation in the population.
That presumes there are no others.
Niketas:
We are talking here about shootings that occur IN a school or schoolyard, not merely near one; that kill people (plural – not just the perp and not just a single person or teacher with whom the perp has an argument or beef ). In other words, lethal mass murders on school grounds. Most of those are publicized in the media, I believe, and there’s little question that although perps seldom or never used to be trans, now a significant number are.
In the past, when I’ve delved into those stats about school shootings, I’ve discovered that a great many don’t fall under those categories.
Nick was throwing up a lot of chaff.
Just rapidly drinking five cups of coffee would temporarily change my personality for the worse.
I’m sure that large doses of either male or female hormones would produce very long-lasting and very bad changes in my personality.
Sometimes you feel like a nut
Sometimes you don’t
The left has a baseline for crazy, but I’m beginning to think trans takes it to a whole ‘nother level.
@om: Nick was throwing up a lot of chaff.
We all need to find meaning in our lives.
I have heard that testosterone acts as an antidepressant, at least in shortish term – that trans-identifying girls or women often experience a rise in mood when they first start taking the big doses that give them the sense that they’re male.
I have also heard that clinics tend to follow up on their trans-identifying clients only for a short time, not long enough for this hormone honeymoon to end.
@neo: In other words, lethal mass murders on school grounds. Most of those are publicized in the media, I believe, and there’s little question that although perps seldom or never used to be trans, now a significant number are.
What is the number and how was “significance” determined? This question is answered the same way you approached heart problems in young people who had COVID vaccinations, and if you apply the same level of rigor you can get to a valid answer about whether there even is a rising trend to try to explain.
First, you have to decide what you mean, and then you have to count EVERYTHING that qualifies. K-12 schools is the 233 number for 2025 (which excludes Brown). Actually lethal cuts the number down to 40. (In none of those did more than 2 victims die, so by the “four” standard of mass shooting the number in 2025 was zero and the Annunciation shooting doesn’t count at all, and only 7 involved 2 deaths including Annunciation.)
So there’s somewhere between 40 and 7 to start with. We counting drug crime, gangs, drive-bys, fights that escalated, killing people who happen to work at a school because that’s where the killer knew they could find them? If not, then you’ve only got between 22 (counting all with one death) and 4 (counting only those with 2 deaths) to work with. Of that 22 to 4 range, only one was committed by a transgendered person in 2025.
Anyway if you finalize your criterion, I’ll be happy to check previous years and tell you how many were perpetrated by the transgendered and we can decide if that rate is actually increasing, and we can use a statistical measure of significance if you want. But we’re talking about events that are almost as rare as winning Powerball (4 winners in 2025), so it may be hard to satisfy a significance criterion. If one Powerball winner in 2026 happens to be trans, it might be a real trend, but probably based only on the larger number of people identifying as trans.
In the past, when I’ve delved into those stats about school shootings, I’ve discovered that a great many don’t fall under those categories.
And I have discovered the same.
I wonder what role, if any, high strength marijuana use is having on young brains swimming in cross-sex hormones and filled with increasingly violent radical progressive ideology.

I was surprised when you mentioned there are alot more trans men than trans women as that certainly was not my perception so I asked ChatGPT (yeah I know).
It would seem that the data you are working with is out of date, and the current data is that there is near parity between the two
“1. Older data (historical trend)
Earlier clinical and survey data (pre-2015) often found:
More trans women (male-to-female) than trans men
Ratios sometimes around 2:1 or 3:1
This likely reflected:
Differences in who sought medical transition
Social stigma affecting reporting
Diagnostic gatekeeping patterns
2. More recent data (last 5–10 years)
Newer population surveys show:
Near parity overall
In adolescents and young adults, often more trans men or transmasculine people
For example:
U.S., UK, Australia, and Nordic survey data show roughly equal numbers overall.
Among teens seeking gender clinic services, trans boys/transmasculine youth often outnumber trans girls/transfeminine youth.
3. Why the shift?
Researchers suggest several factors:
Increased visibility and social acceptance
Different patterns of stigma between trans men and trans women
Social media and community effects
Changes in diagnostic models
Trans women historically being more visible in public life
Broad takeaway
Overall adult population: roughly similar numbers, sometimes slightly more trans women.
Younger cohorts: often more trans men.
The difference is no longer large in most modern datasets.”
LordAzrael:
The post is about school shooters and therefore I was actually speaking of trans young people (although I didn’t say that explicitly), the population that would be likely to be perps of school shootings. Until the last decade or so, male-to-female transitioners far outnumbered female-to-male. But then it reversed.
The following is from 2022:
How many trans shooters is this? The people that still support trans are twisted in way that can’t be imagined. This is just evil.
@ Richard Cook: the “twisted prople” seem to be extraordinarily common nowadays. The twisting is seen among many topics.
I expect some of this is heightened visibility, sought and realized. The Washington Examiner, which I take, has as this issue’s obverse of its cover page a female surgeon tying on her OR mask. The ad appears paid for by a bunch of Colorado entities, including agencies like “cohealth”. A Colorado ad has appeared in this same location for months now. Why? Why should some entity deem it useful to increase national visibility of intra-state Colorado matters?
Transvestism should not be legitimized, normalized, encouraged or celebrated.
I agree that it’s hard to say for sure about a trans-violence trend here. The data are confused and all the people acting as interpreters and channels have agendas.
That said, I don’t doubt for a moment that ‘trans’ ideology lends itself readily to violence.

There’s actually an important distinction between transvestism and ‘trans’ ideology. A subtle one, maybe, but important.
Transvestism has been a thing since forever, and few if any traditional tranvestites claimed to actually be women. (Or men, in the less common inverse situation.) Likewise, as far as legality goes, it’s mostly been legal for men to live as pretend women or women as pretend men for a long time.
What makes the trans-ideology so poisonous is that it embodies the fantasy that reality is a matter of personal choice. The trans-‘men’ and trans-‘women’ don’t just want to be allowed to live as if they were the sex they prefer, they want to actually be that. Also, and this is vital, they want the people around them, the society around them, to validate that choice, to confirm it.
Which of course will only happen by compulsion. Trans-‘men’ are actually women, trans-‘women’ are actually, objectively, men, and everyone knows it.
We’re not doing these people a favor by feeding that fantasy.
Which in turn is why suggested compromises by naifs keep being rejected. Trans-‘women’ can’t be contented with a separate sports category just for trans-‘women’, for example, though it’s been suggested as a solution to the physical discrepencies.
But it doesn’t work. For one thing, there are not enough trans-‘women’ to make a viable competitive category in practice. The other reason is that it still puts ‘trans-women’ into a different category than ‘women’. It defeats the point. They don’t want to be a third category, they want to be women, or think they do.
(Obviously I’m talking here about the sincerely motivated ones, not the guys just using it as a pretense to get into women’s spaces. It defeats their goal too, but they are not as dedicated to the whole project, either.)
All the proposed ‘compromise solutions’ suffer from that problem.
Whenever you’re trying to live a fantasy, reality generates friction on contact. The ‘trans’ movement is generating dangerous levels of friction because everything about it is pretense and self-deception.
For ex, the ‘trans-women’ who are surprised and frustrated that actual lesbians, or straight guys, still aren’t interested in them romantically or sexually. No kidding. But they want it. Feeding the fantasy that they can actually be women makes that frustration worse, because it’s reality smacking them in the face after being assured it wouldn’t happen.
Or another instance: I’ve heard ‘trans-men’ complaining that ‘trans-women’ keep dominating the discussions and groups and movements, and won’t let them speak or have any input. Other ‘trans-women’ say that the ‘trans-men’ are welcome to speak up and take part, but they won’t do it.
What we’re seeing is an old issue, commonly talked about in business circles when both sexes interact: men try to dominate the situation, women wait to be invited to speak, men expect them to speak up and shove forward on their own, and assume they have nothing to say if they don’t. Two naturally different, conflicting mindsets rooted in biology.
Trans-women, being actually men, behave like men in that same way. Trans-men, being women, complain about being shut out and ignored and silenced. Exact same dynamic, because trans-women are still men when the chips are down, and trans-men are still women, likewise.
There’s another dynamic common among gays and lesbians, as Gore Vidal once pointed out. It’s very easy, and more common than many want to admit, for homosexuals to resent the advantage the opposite sex has, because they are both attracted to the same people, but the straights have a built-in advantage in 99% of interactions, an advantage that is hardwired and unchangeable.
That dynamic often feeds into the trans-fantasy situation.
I have absolutely no doubt that the failed hopes and fantasies of trans-ness could drive an already unstable person to hatred and violence.
Most trans are white, and most trans are male to female. These trends make sense when you consider that not only do white men now face the most hurdles and resistance to get into school and get hired to jobs in their field. When merit, credentials, and ability mean nothing, and “identity” is everything, identifying as female and becoming a member of a victim group may be the only path to “success”.

Certainly.
TransvestismTransgenderism should not be legitimized, normalized, encouraged or celebrated.nefron:
In the younger generation, more trans people are female to male. In the older generation it was the opposite (and in previous generations the men’s ages tended to be older).
There is no such thing as trans. You can cut, hormone, etc. That does not change the fact you are still a man or woman. Departing from that has led to where we are. Doctors that start transitioning minors should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, have their licenses removed and jailed. A very small percentage genuinely suffered from gender dysphoria.
