More on Alex Pretti’s death and related happenings in Minnesota — 30 Comments

  1. You must be pretty tired indeed, because you wrote Petti instead of Pretti.

And how bizarre is it that the victims are Pretti Good? G-d has a sense of humor.

  2. well he turned out to be a very petti fellow, perhaps someone whose passions got the better of him
    re the other matter:
Harmeet K. Dhillon on X: “Ed, do you have any clients? Do you actually practice law— in COURT? Serious question, related to this post.” / X https://share.google/rCLYtXl7dPhthYTih

John Daniel Davidson on X: “The people of Minneapolis would be a lot safer if you allowed the police to honor ICE detainer requests so they didn’t have to go track down illegal aliens in the community. But you—and we—already know that. You’re putting your people in danger on purpose to advance an agenda.” / X https://share.google/IAdXzdFKzvwS1YAj9

  3. Marisa:

    Thanks, will fix.

I’ve thought of the strangeness of the names of the two who were killed.

  4. My commentary on Rosas’s commentary:

Beginning at around 14:20. At 14:50 it appears Pretti grabs the LEO’s left arm with his free hand. That may be the basis for saying Pretti obstructed an LEO, which is a felony. The LEO immediately reacts by pepper spraying Pretti. The LEO pushes Pretti away, which creates separation. As Pretti appears to slip on the ice, at 15:00 he was being pulled around. It appears he no longer has his phone in his right hand. It looks like his right hand moves slightly toward his hip. Was this intentional or merely reactive. The LEO pulls Pretti off the woman who had been pepper sprayed by his hood, rather than leaving him keeling on the ground covering the woman. Rosas sees that as Pretti pulling the woman in white, but he was just hanging on to her as the LEO pulls on his hood. Why?

Rosas had said he may have touched the LEO with his right hand, which was holding the phone. It was his left hand pulling on the LEO’s left arm that started the confrontation, IMO. That will be the defense by the LEO for all the events that followed, IMO.

I have read speculation this LEO was a woman, not a man.

  5. “I have read speculation this LEO was a woman, not a man.”

Now that would lead to some doublethink. Remember the left shrieking sexist! when people piled on the inept looking female secret service agent assigned to trump the day he was shot. Add in their continued insistence that there is no physical difference between men and women and that women can perform any job as well as a man.

It would be something is after weeks of saying that these ICE agents are untrained incompetent brutes and it comes out that the officer involved is a woman.

  6. I said it looked like Pretti grabbed the LEO’s arm, but at 20:26 it looks like he was trying to pull the LEO at the waist and you can see the LEO react to it and pushes Pretti away and pepper sprays Pretti.

One of the comments on X about this suggests blowing whistles at federal law enforcement should be illegal. I agree. I can’t imagine having to work in an environment where you are subjected to whistles in your face for hours on end. A person might get a little irritated!

  7. The whistles are part of interfering with law enforcement. Added chaos and distraction while warning illegals.

  8. I saw a video today of a previous encounter that Pretti had with ICE. I’m guessing this might the one that was noted a few days before, where he was said to have had a rib broken. In this video he kicks out a taillight assembly from an ICE vehicle. This now places him in a category where he cannot be called ‘an observer’ any longer, he’s actively and physically harassing ICE operations. An ICE officer emerged from the vehicle and in the resulting tussle with Pretti, he removes his jacket and you can pretty clearly see the handle of an a handgun, stuck inside his pants, inside the belt, above the right rear pocket. It has the same squarish look of the semi-automatic handgun he had when he was killed. I don’t know what the level of offense is, for damaging an ICE vehicle, and it’s not clear whether the ICE officers noticed that he was packing, but they didn’t seem to react in any way to it. After distributing some tear gas for the crowd, to show their appreciation, they left.

Agree that we have to wait for all of the evidence to come in, especially the body cams. But the heartfelt stories about how he’s just an observer, are disproven on tape.

  9. Saint SS is typical for the leftists; above the law, and immune to consequences of indoctrination. They are cannon fodder and the eggs for the greater omelette.

    Forward! Progress, comrade!

  10. “I’m going to kick the taillights out of an SUV filled with armed ICE officers. Nothing is going to happen to me.”

    Kind of stupid.

    Don’t be “protest fodder.”

  11. It’s all fun and games until the odds catch up with them.

Just like OSHA regs are written in blood.

  12. People are making comparisons to Kent State. I agree that’s not an exact correspondence.

But I would point out that afterward there were no more mass protests against the Vietnam War. It’s all fun and games until people get shot.

With the deaths and crackdowns the anti-ICE protestors are starting to realize this shit’s real. I’ve read that they are panicking from the exposure of their Signal chats. As well they should.

I don’t think Good’n’Pretti are going to sustain the LARPers in the real hardball movie they now find themselves.

  13. Barry M., that Hirsi Ali article is a winner. Will enough people recognize how far down the slope we are?

  14. Yes.
I have a few quibbles here and there; but with her background, intelligence and eloquence, one might think that more people would be paying attention…

I certainly hope so but am not sure…

  15. “The whistles are part of interfering with law enforcement. Added chaos and distraction while warning illegals.”

Renee Good was present and blaring her car horn for many minutes, before fatally confronting the federal agents. Play stupid games – win stupid prizes.

  16. Thanks for posting this, Ms. Neo. Very helpful.

I would add an observation: once you’re in a fighting melee, all bets are off. Most people–law enforcement, military, insurgents, etc.–can *not* make fully rational and detailed observations about anything. Field of vision narrows, hearing reduces, adrenaline takes over. Once a person starts shooting, it is also not uncommon for him to cease only when out of ammunition.

Separate comment: I’ve had about a half-dozen encounters with law enforcement while I was armed with a handgun, either concealed or openly. (I’m not including times when I also had a long gun while hunting.) I never had a problem. I was careful to use common sense (e.g., hands in view, no threatening moves, talk with and obey the officer(s), and the like). In my opinion, those in charge of Pretti’s insurgency training were setting him up to be at risk of getting shot–hoping for their own anti-ICE’s version of Horst Wessel.

  18. Barry M, I second JJ’s kudos on the Hirsi Ali article. And your phrase citing her “intelligence and eloquence” describes her abilities and contribution to our nation and culture and situation better than the language I might have found. Just an amazing person, obvious even just from reading her soundly written prose.

  19. I don’t see premeditated desire to kill or even shoot Mr. Pretti in any of the video footage. What I do see is a scrum as CBI pointed out and what I feel is a lack of communication-in the moment. It’s my understanding that Gun, Gun, Gun! Is called when a gun is seen on a suspect, not after the gun is removed. If the Agent had yelled “I’ve got his gun” instead, a different outcome may have happened.
This is the tip of an iceberg that every Law enforcement agency has. Lack of training. Training and refresher training is expensive and invisible. Money spent on equipment can be seen and pointed to.
huxley brought up Kent State which might be another case of lack of training. It’s my understanding that the Guardsmen were ordered to fire over the heads of the protesters in front. Forgetting or not realizing that bullets have to come down somewhere. I see many of these deaths as accidents. The death of the woman in Charlottesville, a heart attack brought on by an accident caused by someone trying to get away. All the deaths on J6, except Ashley Babbitt were accidental and her death may also be due to lack of training. No one in law enforcement goes into a confrontation looking to kill anyone.

  20. Training is always the easy second guess and no matter what happens you can always say they needed more training. But in life to be adequately trained, equipped, and rested is better than not. Still, the enemy has a plan and objective to defeat you.

I don’t know their level of training and don’t assume it was deficient.

  21. om, I have absolutely no idea as to the level of training the ICE Agents receive. My experience is with local and State law enforcement. Now, I firmly believe that Pretti is an idiot for taking a gun to that protest. What was he thinking? That he’d have a gunfight with ICE? I believe that every American has the right to be armed, but as with all rights there are responsibilities. Getting into a fight with Federal Agents while carrying a firearm is not smart. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
