Khamenei says Trump made him do it — 15 Comments

  1. I’m still guardedly optimistic our military has another trick up its sleeve and will help the Iranian people. Trump is mercurial and says many things that do not come to pass, but it would be very out of character for him to encourage people in a life or death situation and not offer aid.

    God help the Iranian people!

  2. @ Art Deco > “Flip Wilson called it.”

I miss the comedians of the old days, before every comic’s routine became an exercise in politics and profanity.

Maybe the Devil made them do it….

  3. Leanne Morgan’s routines are second to none. They also maintain a certain decorum by avoiding profanity.

  4. Is it mere coincidence that the tyrannical, America-hating islamicists who run Iran say the same thing that the tyrannical-wannabe, America-hating leftists right here in the USA say the same thing? “Trump made me/us do it; it’s all his fault and we’re totally innocent and pure as the driven snow!” I suspect there just might be a smidge of similitude between them. But I’m a suspicious man, so maybe that’s just me.

  5. they are opposite wings of the totalitarian, one secular one sectarian, sometimes they cooperate against the Greater foe, see Erdogan working with the Maduro/Cabello regime, sometimes authoritarian forces like Putin work with sectarians like the mullah/ Sepah arrangement in Iran, the whole Dugin praxis,
‘the enemy of your enemy, is not your friend, in reality,

  6. Neo writes: “But if he (Trump) doesn’t [do more in Iran], then this will have been one of his worst moves – to encourage the uprising, promise help, and then fail to give it. Don’t promise if you can’t deliver.”

I think Trump (and many other presidents) learned early on that they can accomplish a lot by encouraging people to do something. If they don’t, he can put it on their shoulders. If they do, and it’s successful, he can take credit for it.

Will this work in Iran, so we don’t have to send in troops or bombers? I can hope it does, but I’m not optimistic.

In any case, I completely agree with Neo’s point: this could be one of his worst moves if he promises help but doesn’t follow through.

  7. President Trump is soooo powerful that he can make a loving, compassionate man of God send forth his security forces to kill thousands of his people. Very impressive, to say the least.

  8. We all want to believe that, in the final analysis, Trump is not so focused on his own image of himself, and what he can realistically accomplish, that he does recognize the true nature of the psychopathic power mad dictators like those in Russia or Iran, etc. Those “leaders” may act like they can be persuaded by “business deals” or other tradeoffs, … but … perhaps Trump does know that for such people the only pertinent lead in to negotiations is “If you want to live …. ”
Of course then he has to have the confidence he can back that up if that ends up being his opening gambit.

  9. This is very hard to listen to as daughter fears for her life.

I had never thought about HOW unequal life under Islam is. Why many of the protesters are young women.

For example, here’s rape laws under the Islamic law in Iran:

    Insufficient Evidence or Proof Requirements

Rape convictions require stringent proof under Sharia-influenced rules: a confession from the perpetrator or testimony from four male witnesses (or equivalents in some interpretations) to the act of penetration. If these are not met, the case may not proceed, or it could be downgraded to lesser offenses with discretionary (ta’zir) punishments, which are often lenient or unenforced. Modern evidence like DNA or medical reports is sometimes accepted but not always sufficient without corroboration, leading to many cases being dismissed. This high burden effectively means many assaults go unpunished, especially if they don’t fit the narrow definition (e.g., excluding oral or non-penetrative acts).

Victim Accused of Consensual Zina (Illicit Intercourse)

If a rape allegation cannot be proven, the victim risks being charged with consensual zina, which carries punishments like flogging, stoning, or death (for married individuals). This “reversal” discourages reporting, as victims fear retaliation, including charges of adultery or immorality. For instance, women who report rape may be scrutinized for their behavior, clothing, or presence in certain situations, leading to non-punishment of the perpetrator and punishment of the victim.

A woman has virtually no defense against rape. If she hurts or kills the man in defense, she could be charged with murder,

  10. This is what I wrote a few days ago:

“The government is armed. The protesters are not. The government has no limit to how many they will kill. What are our options? Arm the protesters? Bomb Iran? I don’t think we know what to do.”

The death toll is, according to some sources, over 14,000. It seems that the revolution was stillborn. Maybe I’m wrong. It just reinforces my opinion that, other than cold war enemies, we really don’t know what to do. I think the only way to change Iran is invasion. That’s not happening.

  11. Brian E

You are so far ahead of the game concerning knowledge of Islam you don’t know it. Light years compared to the Average American. I believe the proper word to describe women in Islam is chattels.

  12. Another win for Trump. I do think that not going into Iran will cost Trump more than he realizes.
