I have long loved the paintings of the Hudson River School:

So many great paintings. A print of Thomas Moran’s Shoshone Falls on the Snake River hung on the wall of my grandparent’s place in Idaho for many years.
‘I thought Kaitlan had really made it big with a major new sponsorship,’ Trump said of Collins … ‘But then I informed her that it wasn’t her on the Bud Light can, it was Dylan Mulvaney.’
…Obama risked annoying the left by seemingly coming to Clark’s defense and gave her some much-needed support as she continues to come under attack from rivals. … As he saw her, Obama said: ‘Oh, hey! Caitlin! How are you? Really nice to meet you. You’re great. You’re fantastic. Don’t let all this nonsense get you down.’
Ukraine looks like it will come outta this Russian reinvasion as a major World Player—and arms supplier. Trumps “Legacy” will certainly contain his many missed opportunities with Zelensky & Ukraine. See my Trump Tally comment here at Neo’s…
Great short video! I gained a new appreciation for the art of the Hudson River school, both in the glimpses of the works themselves and in the context —cultural, social, political, economic— which they exemplify and actuate. L
That chapter in our national history was filled with remarkable events, passions and achievements; and painters like Cole and Church helped the country fulfill its promise.
An idea so looney I just might have to go to a movie theater!

The Ash Can School followed the Hudson River School. Its greats included Robert Henri, John Sloan, George Bellows. I greatly admire Bellows in particular. A great lithographer, and I am fortunate enough to own a couple. He died in 1925 at age 42 of a ruptured appendix. Appendicitis was once a great killer in the days before CT scans and ultrasound, and surgical dictum then was, if in doubt, operate, before the appendix ruptures.
Have heard that before…not sure what I think about it—tho Trump might best dial up Netanyahu first.

Here’s a condensed video of the Starship 13 flight. Some incredible footage. Still a few glitches to work out with the booster raptor engines. They planned on lighted 13 of the 33 engines on the ocean landing and not enough fired up, so the booster landed harder than planned just off the Texas Starbase launch site.
The ship is massive and the thrust the engines produce is more than twice of either the Saturn or Space Shuttle total engines.
At the end of the video the main Starship landed in the Indian ocean and just floated. The ship is massive– 171′ long and 29′ in diameter and has the capacity to fly 100 passengers into space. Suborbital space flights anyone?
“Tourist excursions are one of the more natural near-to-medium-term passenger uses for Starship. The vehicle’s large size, reusability, and ability to fly both suborbital and orbital profiles give it a big advantage over current offerings. It could turn “going to space for a few minutes or hours” from an ultra-exclusive experience for a handful of people into something that, while still costly (low to mid six figures), is accessible to a much larger group of wealthy customers.

This is related to the subject of UAP/Aliens. Serious discussion between Rod Dreher and Winston Marshall. Consensus is this phenomenon is likely demons/demonic manifestations in our physical world.
The conversation only mentions Vance as an aside. During a separate interview with Vance, Marshall plays a clip where the Vance thinks UAP/Aliens are demons.
The discussion covers a wide range of supernatural phenomenon.
“Living in Wonder” is the book by Rod Dreher that triggers the discussion.
“In Living in Wonder, thought leader, cultural critic, and New York Times bestselling author Rod Dreher shows you how to encounter and embrace wonder in the world. In his trademark mixture of analysis, reporting, and personal story, Dreher brings together history, cultural anthropology, neuroscience, and the ancient Church to show you–no matter your religious affiliation–how to reconnect with the natural world and the Great Tradition of Christianity so you can relate to the world with more depth and connection.

Art Deco, Dreher moved back to the US and is living in Birmingham.
I notice his announcement of said move elicited insults from leftoids.

It’s an odd choice. AFAICT, he’s worked from home since 2012. Prior to that he lived in Philadelphia, Dallas, New York, Washington, Miami, and around Baton Rouge. He’s still nearly 380 miles away from his mother and daughter. Perhaps one of his sons landed a job there.
==
He’s always been someone who provoked ambivalent reactions.
Seems Dreher’s done his best to be honest, writing how he sees things as a serious right-of-center/conservative, practicing Catholic living in the current tumultuous, even nihilistic, zeitgeist.
As far as I can ascertain, he may have thought that Orbán’s Hungary might provide a possible, if imperfect, model for a sane, workable, religio-National alternative to the EU’s authoritarian madness, and decided to move there to understand this potential alternative and witness things at first hand.
Dreher may well have been very disappointed with the latest elections in Hungary and/or the purported corruption that, if the allegations are accurate, saturated Orbán’s government over the many years of his governance. OR…he may have been worried about the direction of the new government, which seems intent on clearing out—cleansing?—every last vestige of “Orbanism”(?), even to the point of using questionable legal means to do so, such that one might very much worry whether this new government is planning to lead Hungary as quickly as possible down the EU sewer, no matter how much one hopes this isn’t the case.
Or Dreher, a peripatetic type, it seems, may merely have decided that it’s time to move on.
(He can be followed, at least in part, through the “European Conservative” site.)
Here’s some more evidence that you haven’t hated Fauci enough.*
I sure hope that this slimy POS doesn’t escape some sort of major punishment for the enormous harm–the deaths, the disruptions of families, education, businesses, and the fabric of this nation–which he and his corrupt cronies and supposed medical “experts” caused to be visited upon us.
And don’t forget his partner in crime, the scarf wearing Dr. Deborah Birks. She’s managed to just slide right out of the picture and disappear, but she deserves to be punished as well, for her part in Fauci and company’s machinations.
Another discussion of what/who is UAP. This time with Dr. James Tour and Dr. Hugh Ross.
It makes sense that these are demonic in nature.
Dr. Hugh Ross:…human contactee goes into a trance and while they’re in a trance this angelic being will have them write, and so there’s actually four UFO religions that are quite prominent here in the United States, many more overseas. But kind of their holy book is the Urantia Book which was communicated from one of these UAP entities to a human contactee. It’s actually bigger than the Bible but a third of its content is denying the deity of Jesus Christ. So that kind of gives you an idea where it’s coming from. But Jacques Vallée and J. Allen Hynek also documented that when people have these close encounters with these UAPs, it’s always harmful. The best you’re going to come away with is recurring terrifying nightmares. Say what’s the worst case scenario? There’s many documented cases where the human contact has been killed by the encounter or their animals have been killed. As you mentioned, sometimes it’s the pets that are associated with the human that react first to the UAP phenomena and sometimes they’re killed by the phenomena. So this is quite a harmful thing and very deceptive. I mean, that’s the thing that caught my attention even in my teenage years. People who claimed to have gotten these messages from the UAPs, I knew right away that the astronomy they were communicating was incorrect. But it’s like they seem to be keeping pace with their education level and our technology because you know 100 years ago they were appearing as slow-moving dirigibles in the atmosphere. World War II they were the foo fighters moving at the speed of sound. Now they’re moving as fast as our fastest spaceships. And the stories they tell people change.
Chapter 11: How UAP stories change with technology
A hundred years ago they said they were from the back side of the moon. When people realize, well, that’s not credible, they said, well, we’re from Venus. When people figured how hot it is on Venus, they said, we’re from Mars. Now, they’re saying that they’re from another planetary system. So, the fact that they keep changing their story.
And as Jacques Vallée has documented, this phenomena has always been with us. So, some of the documented cases go back more than 3,000 years. But there they were appearing as fairies and as leprechauns. Now they’re appearing as flying saucers and spaceships. And angelic beings have that power for a brief period of time. They can transform themselves into your grandfather, a human being, an animal or a spaceship. They can do that. But when they do those kinds of things, they’re violating the laws of physics. That’s what our government is releasing. These reports that are coming out where pilots see these supposed craft making sharp right angle turns at 15,000 mph. Well, no physical object can withstand those kinds of G forces. So, we are already dealing with something that’s real but not physical.
It’s spiritual. There really is a spiritual realm. I think that’s what’s going to be exciting about these releases from France and Britain and Russia, Brazil and the United States. It’s going to persuade people there really is a spiritual dimension out there. My concern as a Christian, they’re going to go into spiritualism rather than Christianity. You know, we’re fundamentally spiritual. All of us want to worship something. My worry is when they say, “Oh, materialism isn’t the answer,” instead of following Jesus Christ, they’re going to follow a false spiritual religion.
Dr. James Tour: And I’m finding that these people who pound their fist on the table that materialism is all there is. And then they’ll readily embrace these things from other planetary systems which as we know as you say when they do these sharp turns there’s no biological entity that we know of, no life entity, no materials that could stand the G forces that these things are doing. So they are saying they’re not material when they’re doing these sort of things. And it’s interesting how these keep trying to keep pace with a dimension that’s going to keep people impressed. If they just came as little fairies, we wouldn’t be impressed anymore. I mean, with AI, we can do these sort of things. So they keep trying to come with something that’s going to tantalize people to show that they’re interested in this. Expand on these things for me.
Dr. Hugh Ross: Yeah. Their basic motivation is to deceive us. I mean, we have the evidence that they’re not material but real. But I think the deception that we see, I mean, that’s what pervades all the millions of sightings is that you can see this one common denominator. They’re out to deceive us about the characteristics of the universe and they’re out to deceive us about our purpose and our destiny. So that should be a good clue what’s going on. And again, I’m concerned that this is finally going to persuade people materialism doesn’t work. But instead of submitting their life to Jesus Christ, they’re going to basically submit their life to some other entity.
That’s always been a concern, which is why the Bible so much emphasizes seek truth. What I find interesting too from a biblical perspective, Christian scholars have debated for 2,000 years, did God create life elsewhere in the universe or are we alone in the universe? And there’s good theological arguments for both perspectives. But if you’re an atheist, if you’re a materialist, you have to believe that there’s life everywhere in the universe.
Art Deco, your concern for Dreher’s mother is touching.
There’s this great invention called the telephone. It’s almost like being there. And if that wasn’t fantastical enough, the wizards of science have invented moving pictures to go along, where we can see the people we’re talking to and they can see us!
“Almost like being there,” a.k.a., not being there.
A world of difference.
But you know that?
