  1. I feel bad for the Millennials and Gen Z. The music they consume is so bad, bland, and autotuned. Just ask Rick Beato. I’m glad some are discovering real music. There is occasionally some decent new music, but it seems rare compared to horn of plenty we grew up with. I was riding in the car with my 29 yr old daughter and of course she had her play list going which I tend to ignore. All of a sudden a pretty good song came on and I said, wow some new music that’s good. She laughed and said, no, that’s from 2007 and was a favorite from my childhood. sigh….

  2. Interested in what the fuss was about, we turned on a Taylor Swift video. We turned it off after two minutes.

  3. I came across a car driven by a passionate public transportation advocate. One bummer sticker said “ban cars” with a graphic of the front of a car with the red slash sign. Does she even get the irony?

The other said “Free public transportation is climate justice.”

  4. NYT comment on Texas Gov Abbot’s busing illegal immigrants to blue cities: “Many Biden officials came to view Mr. Abbott’s campaign as the point Democrats lost the debate,” The Times notes.”

What debate? The Dems tried to pull a fast one and the Times tried their best to help them!

  5. Teenager’s a cute and intelligent-appearing kid. I like her. I also like The Bee Gees, especially the earlier ballads.

I wonder how the young lady might react to the 1960s’ Bee Gees: “Holiday”, “Massachusetts”, “To Love Somebody”, “First Of May”, and so on.

  6. M J R:

I thought her analysis was very insightful and intelligent. Of course, I also happen to share her love for the Bee Gees,.

  7. I just wanted to tell someone about this, but- I think, on Dec. 11, 2025, the site, qwant [dot] com, got hacked.

qwant [dot] com is a search engine type of website.

I have some friends who collect comic books and toys.

I went looking for gifts on qwant [dot] com, and I typed, ” “battle beasts” ebay”, into qwant [dot] com’s search box.

(Battle Beasts is a brand of 1980s toys, by the way.)

The site gave me some results, but, at the top of the page:

I don’t know the technical term, but- at the top of the page, there was a clickable, oval-shaped button or switch, that lets you connect to another site. It’s a kind of a link to another site.

The first oval shaped button that appeared on my search, said:

    “Buy Slaves Now”.

    …What the heck?

    “Buy Slaves Now”?

I guess that some didn’t like the qwant [dot] com site, or that they or that person wanted to hack, or wreck, the site- a little bit.

    Oh wow.

I don’t know how that phrase, “Buy Slaves Now”, got onto the site, but it is gone now.

    That was really strange.

I’ll talk to people later on.

    Cheers.

  8. TR, that was interesting. Is it that someone is nudging people to buy slaves now because they’re about to get much more expensive? That’s the usual line with such encouragements, in my experience.
