  1. And the Joke of the Day(TM):
    Sweet Letitia James—weaponizing righteous indignation!—accuses The Donald of—get this!!—weaponizing justice…
    Heh…
(Apparently the Trumpster didn’t get the memo that Democrats are a protected species and beyond justice…)

  2. I definitely like it when people try to match outfits, locations, and facial expressions – mimicking the vacant expressions they had as toddlers.

  3. Re: Gov Ferguson (D-WA) playing chess with Biden

First, the chess set they are playing with is one of those way non-standard futuristic sets that scream, “I’m not serious about chess.”

Second, Ferguson has given Biden knight odds.

The first two moves are standard, then both players start senselessly pushing pawns on the extreme queenside. Patzers!

  4. Meanwhile, in bat shit crazy Britain as, a la the Titanic, it is in the process of sliding under the waves–

David Monteith, the Dean of Canterbury, in justifying allowing graffiti to be installed inside Canterbury Cathedral, said–

“There is a rawness which is magnified by the graffiti style, which is disruptive. There is also an authenticity in what is said because it is unfiltered and not tidied up or sanitised.”

….“Above all, this graffiti makes me wonder why I am not always able to be as candid, not least in my prayers.”

…“This exhibition intentionally builds bridges between cultures, styles and genres, and in particular allows us to receive the gifts of younger people who have much to say and from whom we need to hear much.”*

What the hell is wrong with these people?

Is it the something in the air or the water of old Blighty?

Is it some sort of brain infection?

What a sanctimonious crock of shit.

  5. P.S. Truly a “fin de siecle” moment, for Britain, the end of an Age.

Reminds me of Tolkein, writing in one of his books, about the passing of some ancient, once splendid kingdom and age, which is now only remembered because of the few ancient ruins which dot the landscape.

That–it appears–is what is going to be Britain’s fate.

  6. Unfortunately, “a sanctimonious crock of shit” is a good description of the Church of England these days.

  7. Re the Biden Ferguson chess match. Two men with diminished brains going at it. Inslee was brain dead, and Ferguson is not really an improvement.

  8. It is interesting – though I would not read too much into it – that the last living Israeli hostages may be returned at the end of the multi day ” Festival of Booths ” aka ” Tabernacles”. Zechariah chapter 14 suggests that this will be a required event in the Messianic ( 1000 year ) Age for the Gentile nations that attack Israel – they will have to travel to Jerusalem or get no rain. I don’t know if this will just be representatives of those nations or all males or everyone?

  9. Re: Church of England

    Snow on Pine, Kate:

    Predictable, pathetic.

The new Archbishop of Canterbury is a woke woman replacing the previous Archbishop who was … er … forced to resign.
    ______________________________________

Prior to Friday, the Church of England was without a leader for nearly a year…

The news on Friday that Dame Sarah Mullally has been appointed as the new head of the church may have brought this period of uncertainty to an end. But it won’t reverse the church’s growing estrangement from its congregants….

Among Britain’s right-thinking classes, the reaction to her appointment has been one of celebration. She is the first female Archbishop of Canterbury, and therefore supposed proof that the church has moved with the times. The 63-year-old Mullally appears to firmly share this view, just as she shares much of the chronic wokeness that has eroded the church’s standing.

Much of the blame for the CofE’s problems can be laid at the feet of her predecessor, Justin Welby. He was forced to resign in November after an internal review – the Makin Report – found that it was likely he knew of, but said nothing about, the crimes of John Smyth. Smyth was an inveterate sadist who brutally abused hundreds of young boys at Christian camps, one of which he met Welby at in the 1970s.

What’s a little inveterate sadism directed towards children among Anglican priests? It’s only problematic if it comes out.

The Church of England moves from strength to strength!

  10. The only saving grace I have seen about Mullally is she opposed the assisted suicide bill. She is pro-abortion and led the effort to approve church blessings for same-sex couples, and also appears to support the “T” part of LGBT, etc.

And, on the subject of episcopal malpractice, two years into her tenure as Bishop of London, a file of unverified accusations was published (she’d had the file for two years) which led to the suicide of one of her priests who was accused of pedophilia. He never got an investigation or trial.

    She’s “woke,” for sure.

Provinces having the large majority of Anglican worshippers worldwide have rejected her leadership. The Communion is leaving Canterbury.

  11. Count me as another one who liked the adults taking on the outfits—and especially the facial expressions—of their younger lives.

Don’t much have to say about the Anglican church. No Anglicans in my family tree. Most of my ancestors were Dissenters from the British Isles, and one of the German ancestors fled to Holland to escape religious persecution—then on the America.

The Anglican Church was bad enough 400 years ago. It’s gone downhill since.

  12. Re: Gov Ferguson (D-WA) playing chess with Biden

Well, hush my mouth. Ferguson is a legit chess player, a rated chess Master who won the Washington State Championship twice.

    https://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessplayer?pid=43433

I still wonder why he would play on an ugly non-standard set and make such questionable moves.

Of course, it didn’t matter. He was playing a potted plant and it was just a photo-op.

  13. Coming late to the post, but a couple of observations.

The girl gathered around the stone lion with her 3 sisters missed a bet by not adding a pacifier to the “later” picture. 1:53

The girl in front of the castle (wish I knew where!) in the identical track suit – how did they find that, or did Mom make it? 2:53

Brother and sister in lederhosen and dirndl were darling. 4:39

I’m sure there were LOTS of seamstresses involved in these photos, but some of the clothing is clearly ready-made – imagine finding the same thing again after all those years in larger sizes (unless some were Dad’s matching outfits from the original era in some unshown photos?)

I thought I saw two boys with some old gumball machines with black pedestals but now I can’t find it again; was that my imagination?!?

Because we have one just like them (the machines, not the boys!) that my mother got from her uncle, who owned a candy parlor in Texas. Everything (or most of the good stuff anyway) was made by him in the back room.

  14. @ Jon baker in re Zechariah chapter 14

That would seem to be what the scientists call a testable proposition: keep track of which nations are supporting Israel at this time; maybe cut some slack on “attendance” at Jerusalem to count signing / supporting Trump’s peace deal (and I would consider the phrase to mean representatives, unless the aforementioned plagues totally eradicate the majority of the people — the text doesn’t specify men either); see which countries get rain and which don’t in the next usual season.

If the events match the prophecy, we are truly living in interesting times.
