  1. Margot Cleveland thread: “HUGE Trump Win on Boasberg contempt case!!”

    https://x.com/ProfMJCleveland/status/1953828222233169986

District of Columbia Appellant court grants govt petition for mandamus and vacates Judge Boasberg’s contempt order.

Bottom line: Huge win for Trump. HUGE. And also, I would submit, shows how Boasberg’s anti-Trump bias and presumption Trump would violate an order played out in the real world and precisely why recusal was appropriate!!

  2. The video title is interesting, for “Top 10” is apparently “Top 10” in English, spelled out in a (Ukrainian?) Cyrillic alphabet, instead of the Ukrainian? for “Top 10”. I transliterate the video title as

Top 10 Nayskladneshekh Tryukiv v Sviti

but I never learned Ukrainian Cyrillic and my Russian Cyrillic is quite rusty.

  3. David @10:23am,

Your post is spot on. I have seen this from first hand experience. More and more families are waking up to alternative methods of getting the necessary K-12 credentials to matriculate to college and/or a career. I think the next 10 years will be a very disruptive period for traditional education.

Most all public (and private) schools spend at least 50% of the school day babysitting. That xkcd cartoon posted in the comments of your post is funny. And true.

  4. I’ve written lately that I see historical “rhyming” with the ’80s and Trump’s two terms. This is an interesting substack https://world.hey.com/dhh/it-s-beginning-to-feel-like-the-80s-in-america-again-68c2708e from a foreigner who saw the movie, “Weird Science” in the ’80s and it spurred him to move here and become an American. He too feels it in the air.

As Andrew Breitbart so famously said, “Politics is downstream from culture.”

  5. ”Trump-Putin Tentative Agreement”

So Trump and Putin agree — no need to consult the Ukrainians — that the torture centers in occupied Ukraine will continue to operate, the mass graves will continue to be filled, thousands of Ukrainian women will continue to be raped, and tens of thousands of Ukrainian children will continue to be taken from and taught to hate their own parents. What’s more, America will help Russia rebuild and modernize its military so that it can take the rest of Ukraine and Eastern Europe later and do the same to them. All so the messiah can get his Nobel Peace Prize.

The most shameful day for America since the Trail of Tears.

  6. New post: Six Hundred Million Years in K-12
    ==
I think Orszag would have a point were we to replace our current system with one animated by serious pedagogy. That would require all students take annual regents examinations and that the current set of ‘schools of education’ be closed and their faculty blacklisted.

  7. All that twirling was impressive. I get the feeling that Slavic folk dancing is very male oriented and therefore much more extremely athletic.
That said, the first guy (#10) spun like a top for an impressive time, and then sprang to his feet. I think if the video had continued, we would have seen him listing sideways trying to walk straight. In his position he couldn’t use the “head snap” trick.

  8. It’s hard to imagine how strong those dancers’ legs must be, and their knees.

  9. Gotta be hospitals full of guys used to be on the fringe of that dancing business.
