Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah (another golden oldie from the neo archives)
On Christmas Day—blog?
I’d rather have grog,
Or maybe eggnog,
Then go walk the dog.
Or watch a Yule Log,
And eat like a hog,
Then go for a jog.
Blogging’s a bog.
My mind’s in a fog,
Or maybe agog
From much dialogue.
I’ll return to the slog
Tomorrow, and blog.
NOTE: On the words “the dog,” the link goes to a photo of the type of dog we had when my son was growing up.
Also – Happy Chanukah, which starts the evening of Christmas Day this year.
This post can serve as an open thread as well. Enjoy!
Merry Christmas, everyone.
Buon Natale, Neo and all American friends.
Neo be rappin’..
Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah, especially to those here who didn’t expect to make it this far.
There is a certain timelessness to the posts you share annually Boss… I’m not sure it is said often enough… you’re a gift to the rest of the crew here. Thank you and blessings on the year ahead.
Vielen Dank, Paolo.
Frohliche Weinachten !
Umlaut habe ich nicht!
Happy Christmas and Chanukah to all!
An unusual combination of Christmas and Chanukkah this year. Blessings to all celebrating!
And may God bring us all peace in the new year.
Re: Agog
I’ve long enjoyed the word agog, though I was less sure what it meant or where it came from.

agog
“in a state of desire; in a state of imagination; heated with the notion of some enjoyment; longing” [Johnson], c. 1400, agogge, probably from Old French en gogues “in jest, good humor, joyfulness,” from gogue “fun,” which is of unknown origin.

The French strike again.
Interesting that after a long period of disuse, agog has ramped up sharply since 2000 and has now exceeded its peak frequency in 1929.
And may all your Christmases be agog!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Merry, merry Christmas everyone, though illness among small grandchildren has somewhat frayed Christmas here — but just damaged it, not destroyed it, it’s still Christmas. And I hope for blessings for all of us in the New Year.
Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah to all in this community. ?
