Milei tells the UN bureaucrats some harsh truths
Not that they care. But he didn’t pull his punches:
That’s to say, [the UN has] become a useless organization whose only purpose is to sustain a cast of fatally arrogant parasites, masquerading as well-intentioned bureaucrats.
I would remind them of what Mises said: good people do not think about controlling the lives of their fellow human beings.
Those who were supposed to guarantee collective security and human rights failed in their task.
Instead, they allowed chaos, violence, and international terrorism to flourish.
The alleged defenders of human rights have sheltered bloodthirsty dictatorships and regimes that stone women in the streets.
They have systematically voted against Israel while remaining silent in the face of Islamic terrorism and the genocide of Christians in Africa.
It’s really quite simple as well as obvious. But the institution is fatally flawed and the words will fall on deaf ears.

I love Milei. “Fatally arrogant parasite.” Yes.
Why is the US still a member of the UN??? I’m surprised Trump hasn’t pulled that plug. Total waste of US tax dollars.
physicsguy is right. This is a big (and disappointing) missed opportunity from Trump.
Amen! Preach it, brother!
Re: Trump leaving UN
I wouldn’t rule it out. He’s got another couple years.

“That’s to say, [the UN has] become a useless organization”
That implies that the UN was ever anything but a useless organization. I don’t believe it was once good and fell apart. It was bad from day one.
Huxley:
Aren’t you breaking a rule of the internet by attributing a quotation correctly and giving a source? Ray Cummings wasn’t a great writer, but I’m glad to see him get credit for his one good line. He must have been please with it, as he used it again several times after “The Girl in the Golden Atom”: in the short story “The Time Professor” (Argosy All-Story Weekly, Jan. 8, 1921), in the 1930 novel “The Man Who Mastered Time” (originally serialized in Argosy in 1924), and in a letter to the editor in the April, 1931, issue of Astounding Stories.
This article from 9/21/26 provides some info on the budget of the UN and the contributions from the US, with comments on reductions initiated by the Trump admin: https://www.cfr.org/articles/funding-united-nations-what-impact-do-us-contributions-have-un-agencies-and-programs
The US pays approx. 22 – 26 % of the ~$68B total UN budget, or ~ $15 – 17B.
There have been discussions in the past about the US leaving the current torrid UN, along with the rest of the “republican” or democratic nations, and creating a more responsible and responsive organization. Possibly this would also add the benefit of clarifying for us just who the members and interests of “the other side” are.
But today, with the autocratic EU, the Middle East Turkey-Suadi-Pakistan “agreement”, BRICS, etc. it is less clear that joining with our “allies” would provide an agreeable mix of viewpoints and policies.
Maybe we should just pay less, expect (even) less, possibly tell them to move somewhere else*, but retain whatever benefits that “jaw jaw” have over war-war.
*Perhaps Constantinople or Gaza? 🙂
Somewhere closer to possessing a global median income?
The UN mimics the failed state of California, or is the opposite more accurate. Plenty of virtue signaling and moral high horsing but everything they initiate turns out for the worst.
Most of the countries in the world are Socialists to Totalitarians, is anyone surprised they are pushing what they live by?
The UN has been a joke since its inception in October 1945.
Think about it; they placed Joe Stalin’s USSR as a permanent member of the Security Council in Oct. 1948.
Just as a reminder; Stalin’s policies resulted in the death of more Russians that those killed by Hitler’s invading army.
And it was Stalin that signed the non-aggression pact with Hitler in August 1939 which gave Hitler the go-ahead he needed to invade Poland and which gave Stalin the go-ahead to invade Poland from the east,
And also gave Stalin the green light to invade Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Finland.
Stalin was Hitler’s ally for the initial 20 months of WWII and Russia supplied Hitler with oil, grain and metals during this time period .
And the USA and UK (and France?) agreed to join to allow Stalin’s USSR into the UN . Yep, the USSR, ruled by one of the worst mass murderers in world history.
Un F’n believable.
And this crap still continues. Check out what committees of the UN include Cuba, Iran and Nicaragua.
I do not understand at all why the USA is a member of this criminal organization; why they are allowed on US territory and why UN “diplomats” are allowed into the USA and why the USA takes taxpayer $$$ to help fund the UN criminal gangster organization.
I’ve come to hate the UN too. But there are reasons for the US to stay in the UN.

Ask Vance about von Mises. Vance already hates Uncle Miltie Friedman and Iron Lady Thatcher.
There is precisely one reason for the U.S. to remain in the U.N.:
So that it can continue to exercise its veto power as a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council.
I think there are about three dozen intergovernmental agencies with a specialized book to which we might consider a membership. You can join any one of these without being a UN member. In re the Security Council and the General Assembly, the only reason to participate is to disrupt the schemes of China and other bad actors. We should not pay any mind otherwise.
