Has anyone experienced a son/daughter or grandson/granddaughter have a test score canceled from College Board? This is the result of an AP Chemistry Exam my grandson took in May. He will be a junior in high school this year.
Quite the experience in opaqueness. Assumed guilty until you can prove otherwise without seeing all the evidence against you.
In part the letter from College Board says:
The Test Security Team’s review revealed unusual matching responses between your responses and one other test taker who attends the same school. The test taker you matched with also tested in the same testing room.
Specifically, the analyses and review of your testing found the following evidence:
Probability of Matching Incorrect Responses (K w/Slope) is used to identify pairs or groups of test takers with an unusually large number of identical incorrect answers on their AP Exam. In this case, your answers matched one other test taker at a probability value of 4.23E-07, or 1 in 2,364,066.19 (or less than 1 in two million, three hundred sixty-four thousand). This means that these matching incorrect answers are highly unlikely to occur by chance.
Answer Analysis determined that you and one other test taker had an unusually high number of matching responses on this test. Of the 60 total multiple-choice questions on the test, you matched with one other test taker on 55 responses (or at a matching rate of 92%). Of those matching responses, 45 were correct and 10 incorrect. The highest run for this exam was 20 matching responses before a different response was selected.
Feature Use Discrepancy reviews how a test taker took advantage of platform features like navigation, zoom/magnifying glasses, calculators, etc. to facilitate test taking. This analysis assesses normal behavior and use of the features. In this case, you used the feature, NAVIGATE_JUMPTO_QUESTION, 43 times during testing, which is in the 92nd percentile of all test takers.
Response Time Analysis reviews how long a test taker spent on each response, their total time for the test, and the correctness of their responses. For each test taker, we estimate their ability and average speed, which is then compared to their response time and ability during an AP exam. In comparing the response time between two or more test takers, if there are similar time or response patterns discovered throughout the exam, we deem it as unusual and it may indicate the possibility of copying and/or collusion. A visual examination of your response patterns with one other test taker shows a consistent, unusual testing pattern throughout the exam.
The totality of the evidence presented establishes that your score is invalid. Consequently, your AP Chemistry Exam score remains canceled.

My grandson is trying to recall the seating arrangement in the room. Hopefully the proctor or AP coordinator will provide that. The room was arranged with two students sitting side by side at each table. The person sitting next to him received his score.
If there was a possibility of collusion, as the letter states, the other student should have had his/her score also cancelled. Of course the College Board won’t say whether that happened or not.
My grandson had no reason to cheat. He is one of three students to get an A in his chemistry class, has a 3.95 gpa and if successful in the test, would receive a few college credits.
They pointed out the number of times he used the navigate function as an abnormality, but I thought that was pretty standard in tests like these. You go through the first time and answer all the easy questions, then start back through, answering, skipping as many times as necessary until you’ve answered all the questions or time runs out. I assume this was a timed test.
That slo-mo video at the top seems like a Rorschach test. I find it creepy, not relaxing. Like guided meditation.
That sounds outrageous, Brian E. At the very least they should refer this to the proctor for further evidence before using the algorithm to “prove” cheating. If the kid seated next to him got a test score recorded, how do they figure this one is bad? Good to know he’s got support from his teacher and the proctor.

DataRepublican (r) was wary of being set up with classified documents. But another X.com user parsed out their contents for her on another long thread.

On paper it was meant to counter propaganda aimed at foreign audiences but by 2020 it had abandoned that and in actual practice was aimed at silencing domestic opposition. They literally had an entire email thread on GEC/Election Integrity Partnership [or EIP] where the GEC worked in conjunction with the “Election Integrity Project.” But what was this “Election Integrity Project?”
One internal email chain shows a State Department employee saying election-related work would occupy nearly all of their time through the [2020] election. Busy little bees.
Later, a Stanford researcher invited that government worker into EIP’s Slack channel, and the employee accepted.
EIP brought together researchers and outside organizations to track what it claimed was “election misinformation.”
Kaiser says this arrangement created a handy-dandy little middleman between government and Big Tech.
Instead of Washington dealing directly with platforms over controversial political speech, concerns could travel through outside organizations. That’s how they covered it up.
