It looks like Troy Jackson will be replacing Graham Platner — 7 Comments

  1. I have not heard that any money donated to DNC or other Democrat organizations by people who were excited about Platner, is being returned.

He was Maine’s “Beto” or Talarico: a no-hoper who says what Dems really feel, and he has served his purpose in firing up the Dem base nationally. The Maine Dems can now move on to genteelly losing to the GOP Chair of Appropriations who will continue transferring millions from our wallets to people with connections in Maine; that money disappears if a Dem defeats Collins and they all know it.

Kayfabe is not confined to one side of the aisle.

  2. Neo thinks “passionate” might not be the best way to describe Troy Jackson. Well how about “doesn’t have a Nazi tattoo” or “hasn’t raped anyone”? Either one is probably better than “wasn’t selected by Maine’s Democrat voters in an open primary contest.”

  3. When they’re ardent it’s ‘passion’. When we’re ardent, it’s ‘hate’. It’s all games with these people.

  4. The most important feature about Troy Jackson is that he is NOT a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, the DSA, as Platner was. He’s a machine Democrat. The old party, old boys have won this battle, and this lout is the product of it. The DSA has been quick to endorse him, as he was quick to pretend to like them during the original primary campaign, in both cases to attract as much attention as possible.

I think it’s fairly likely that Collins will win, but I also think that Jackson might have a better chance than Platner would have. Scandals aside, he really wasn’t very good at articulating his case.

Much of this is already known, but is all of it?

  6. The Hill – 7/22

    Jackson – 49%
    Collins – 46%.

Collins has always trailed in the polls prior to Election Day In 2020 she was losing 54 to 42 in mid September to Sara Gideon
