  1. Just to confirm to TJ that I am still polluting my mind by looking at other sources and trying to find out what the left is up to, I found this Politico article which outlines what DSA is targeting next.

Oh, and also in terms of polluting my thinking, one of my Democrat friends just posted this statement “A Democratic Socialist is not a Marxist Socialist or a Communist. A Democratic Socialist is still a capitalist, just one who seeks to restrain the self-destructive excesses of capitalism”. So it looks like maybe the mainstream Ds are perfectly fine with the DSA takover and actually believe that load of crap. But then, my mind is warped by looking at this sources.

  2. Talk is cheap, actions have consequences.

They wouldn’t be bothering with the deflection and self deception if folks weren’t on to their con.

… and the horse they rode in on.

  3. @physicsguy:“A Democratic Socialist is not a Marxist Socialist or a Communist. A Democratic Socialist is still a capitalist, just one who seeks to restrain the self-destructive excesses of capitalism”

It sounds like they are disavowing the “state control of means of production” flavor of socialism, which hasn’t been significant in the US for decades now, in favor of the “welfare state” flavor of socialism which is basically the only significant kind left a la Scandinavia.

That’s something I know huxley’s pointed out before that these guys are not and have never been actual Marxists or actual Communists in any sense Marx or Lenin would recognize, they just want a bigger welfare state and more regulation. They need people willing to work in order to tax them, spend their money, and boss them around.

  4. They are thieves. They intend to steal as much as possible and enrich themselves. No more explanations needed.

  5. Democratic socialists, or at a minimum their leaders , are not stupid enough to claim they are full on Marxist-Leninists.
    But they are.
They know enough not to advertise their real goals.
By hedging – verbally and publicly – their real intentions for now, they know they can get the vote of millions of useful idiots (e.g. white, college educated, under the age of 30 or so) and by doing so, gain the power they seek.
And once they have it, they no longer will need to hide what they really believe.

Communists are very clever in their strategies.

The non-DSA members of the demonrat party have basically kept quiet and that’s because they really agree with the DSA’s presently stated goals. It’s not a coincidence that the DSA charlatans have decided to hitch their horses to the demonrat party instead of running within their own DSA party.

If the DSA becomes a real threat to our republic – primarily because of the stupidity of voters – then very extreme measures will be justified to remove them from power.

History shows that when radical movements succeed in obtaining power, it is typically a small number of agitators – a few thousand at most – that lead the charge in imposing a totalitarian state.

  6. I am starting to wonder if any Europeans might think here is better than the other side

  7. I would posit here that ” Socialism” is the bait, but what is really happening is a Muslim invasion intent on subjugating Western Civilization. The non Muslims are simply tools to erase the border. NYC is in danger of becoming a Muslim City ! The estimates are that sometime between 2010 and 2025 the number of Muslim Mosques exceeded the number of Jewish Synagogues in the US. There is perhaps some issue with the number because of trying to classify ” Cultural Centers” with either religions full scale Mosque or Synagogue.
The Jews have been a part of Western Civilization for a couple thousand years at least. Islam has generally been at war with Western Civilization since it’s inception. Our people are not taught about that anymore, generally.

  8. There is a black video blogger I occasionally watch named April Chapman. Here is a video where she is upset with the NAACP for backing transgenders in women’s sports. She really hits her stride towards the end of the video after a technical difficulty with the sound near the middle.

  9. The DSA is a smorgasbord of leftist and new leftist causes. It is a movement coalition. Its members oppose capitalism and authoritarian socialism without specifying what they want and how to get it beyond vague utopian notions:
    _________________________________

Capitalism is a system designed by the owning class to exploit the rest of us for their own profit. We must replace it with democratic socialism, a system where ordinary people have a real voice in our workplaces, neighborhoods, and society.

    _________________________________

Sounds nice until the Bolsheviks show up to take over and run the show as happened in 1917 Russia.

It’s the old problem: “democratic socialism” depends heavily on the democratic part surviving contact with the organized radicals who think democracy is merely a tactic.

I know which side of that bet I’m taking.

  10. The Communist/whatever + Islamist crowd are Satanic: some unwittingly, some wittingly, e.g. Saul Alinsky.

  11. I seem to recall that what they’re now calling Democratic Socialism was being given a test drive about 30 years ago under the name “communitarianism.” You know, “it takes a village.”

Anyway, except for the most crazed extremists the DSA types don’t want communism. They enjoy their vacation homes, foreign travel, high end restaurants, expensive automobiles, insider trading and so on, and want to continue enjoying those things. What they want – but of course cannot ever admit – is a soft-to-moderate left wing police state with a heavily controlled economy designed to serve the needs of the nomenklatura. You might call it “Chicom Lite.”

  12. I’ll call out the elephant in the room: the left wants to change the ethnic/racial composition of America and, relatedly, diminish the numbers hence the power and influence of white people of European ancestry. In other words they want to destroy Western Civilization, an undertaking that entails the eradication of said people. The left wants to replace us.

There, I said it. Some might say this is a racist formulation, but I don’t care. I strenuously object to being destroyed and I aim to resist the effort to do so. I like being a white person of European ancestry and I like the civilization that produced me.

I think it was Thomas Sowell who observed that with mass migration you not only import individuals but you import their culture, society, and values as well. And if you import them in large enough numbers they will supersede you, and tough shit for you if you don’t like what they bring with them. I don’t want this to happen and I intend to fight to keep this from happening.

  13. If it talks like a duck…this is why i have been away working on my novel with grammarly prompts

Like the magicians apprentice they just want to break things
Doesnt matter they not be following the script exactly but the result will be the same

  14. I think the USA is already well down the socialist road. What are Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare ? These are clearly socialist programs, with centralized bureaucratic administration. If there is a technological advance in medicine, Medicare will not pay anything for it until Medicare “approves it”. Which often takes a year or more. And in the meantime the providers (sic) of said advance, if they have paid for it, provide it at the provider’s unreimbursed cost, or simply do not purchase this advance though it would be to their patients’ advantage, until Medicare approves. There is no free lunch. Private insurors follow Medicare’s lead though they do reimburse better.
The foregoing were my observations while in practice, but I’ve been retired for a while. Doubt things have improved.

  15. @ Jon Baker > “There is a black video blogger I occasionally watch named April Chapman.”

Wow, as the click-bait headlines say, she is spitting fire!
Very well constructed argument, IMO, and “telling it like it is” at its best.
She makes a number of good points, about the LBGTQ agenda, communist fronts, and the dereliction of the NAACP in caring for the actual rights and needs of black people, none of which will surprise anyone here, and presents them clearly and with obvious passion.
(Despite the poetic maxim that we see from time to time. not all of the best lack conviction!)
    Definitely someone to watch.

  16. Critical Drinker has dropped his review of “Young Washington” about you-know-who. He gives it a thumbs-up as a good job, reasonably accurate though compromises are made in the interests of story-telling.

He also envies the film for its patriotism, largely banished on his “side of the pond,” i.e. Europe.

I don’t know much about Washington’s early years. I look forward to seeing the film.

  17. “A Democratic Socialist is not a Marxist Socialist or a Communist. A Democratic Socialist is still a capitalist, just one who seeks to restrain the self-destructive excesses of capitalism”

Of course, your Democrat friends are fooling themselves. As we’ve seen over the last 20 years as socialism has found new followers, there is no end to progressive impulses. There will be no end line, where capitalism sufficiently supports socialist goals and capitalism is left with a profit. They will demand they decide what a fair “profit” is.

  18. “the owning class” aka the victims of criminals, hence the “deincarceration” focus by the DSA.

    Cap a DSA for freedom?

Free helicopter rides, one ride each.

  19. My internet service went out Friday afternoon, just in time for the holiday weekend.

I talked to the rep at my provider. He says that there are nine outages current in Abq. It’s on account of copper theft! Thieves are breaking into the boxes and stealing the copper wiring.

CenturyLink is so backed up they can’t get me an appointment until next Monday. There is an off-chance it might be my modem, so I’ll drive over to the office and try a loaner.

I thought this was more of a Third World/South Africa kind of problem.

  20. Copilot Do Thieves Steal Fiber?
Thieves do not typically steal fiber-optic cable for scrap value, but they often cut fiber cables by mistake when targeting copper wires. This is a growing problem in the U.S., with service providers reporting a sharp rise in intentional cuts to communication infrastructure

  21. There are certain things in life that are pure, undeniable verities. Water is wet. Fire burns. (Tipping my cap to Kipling.) Here is another one, germane to the discussion: communists, democrats and moslems are liars, it’s part of their culture, taqqiya is not exclusive to moslems. So the current mayor of NYC pulls off a trifecta.

  22. Third world comes to America.

    Deincarceration.

Kill the Boer (aka the Owners).

  23. Regarding internet. We signed up for the T-Mobile 5g wifi and it’s worked out great. We had fiber internet, built out by the local PUD. The price recently started rising regularly. The cell wifi is guaranteed $30/mo for the next five years. Of course you have to be certain you have a good signal.
Other cell companies provide similar services.

  24. @ huxley > “Thieves are breaking into the boxes and stealing the copper wiring.”
This has been a problem in America for at least 10 years that I know about.
They started stealing copper pipe/tubes from air conditioner/heater units outside of commercial buildings, such as our chapel.

Make Copper Cheap Again, and they will stop.

  25. A small digression but slightly related to deincarceration — while walking past AesopSpouse’s nook a few minutes ago, I saw he was watching a “crime in progress” in Los Angeles: cops had been chasing a speeding car (the anchors gave the area but I don’t remember now) and I caught up with the live broadcast just as they cornered him on the highway.

The perp was stalled in “gridlock” – whether normal for the time or place, or because people had pulled over to get out of his way I don’t know. He ended up kind of obliquely parked just across the median line, on the edge of the cars heading the opposite direction to himself and the cops who had now driven up behind him.

A citizen slowly and cautiously pulled his truck nose to nose with the suspect’s car, effectively blocking him, and eventually the perp opened his window and stuck his hands up in the air; the truck driver eventually exited and walked away, rather nonchalantly I thought; big buff guy in white tshirt. Cops were all milling around their lead car, not getting any closer. Traffic going the same way as the perp picked up steam and skedaddled, vehicles going toward the newly arriving cop cars behind him were still stuck, being yelled at to leave their cars and get out of any line of fire.
    THEN
Perp wiggled out the open window and was soon hanging head down, hips over the sill and hands on the tarmac. Voice-over reporters are chattering, and wondering (repeatedly) why he didn’t open the door and get out, was he trying to get out and caught his pants on the window, or is he “under the influence” (can’t just say “drunk” in California, I suppose)?

Note they did mention he had already thrown a gun out the window sometime that I didn’t see.

THIS is what I thought, and I wondered if I’m nuts or smarter than a news-talker:
IF he takes his hands down from the window to open the door, the immediate reaction from the cops is to shoot first and ask questions later, and he probably knows that. Same if he dives out the window and rolls free of the car. BUT, just going out part way, his hands on the ground, he isn’t getting back in or pulling a weapon in any possible way, so that maneuver doesn’t get him killed instantly. Maybe there’s a memo going around the city, or was it his own invention?

That’s where I left the party, so I suspect he is now in custody and we might find out later on local LA news what was going down.

  26. @ huxley > “This is different. It’s affecting me. ?”

Reminds me of an old Soviet joke we may have to resurrect.
The Bolsheveks were traveling the Russian villages, looking for converts.
Ivan, Dmitriy, Mikhail, and Sergey are in the crowd of farmers and shopkeepers listening to the haranguing against the Capitalists and Kulaks.
“We will end the rule of the Capitalists and divide all their wealth among the people!” yelled the demagogue.
The men all nodded their heads and cried hurray.
“We will take all the lands of the Kulaks and divide it among the people!”
    They nodded and cheered again.
“We will confiscate all the pigs and share them out evenly!”
Dmitriy, Mikhail, and Sergey cheered and waved, then noticed that their companion had remained silent.
“Ivan!” they cried, “don’t you agree?”
Ivan shook his head no and replied, “I got a pig.”

  27. Josh from the UK with his friend Jase (they are in the above video with the fireworks) have been doing videos for a while – they are so entertaining!
