Today’s date: a whole lot of sixes and a whole lot of twos.
And then there’s that lonely zero.

“Juan is the loneliest number.”
And then there’s that lonely zero.
Just have to wait until 6/26/2226. Or we could wait until 6/26/2060 and then the zero wouldn’t be lonely. But I’m sure there’s at least a couple of billionaires who think they could make it to 2226.
Lucius Washington: I don’t wanna rain on your parade, but that was some of the dumbest driving I have ever seen in my life.
Ricky Bobby: Thank you.
Lucius Washington: Now, I know you won the race, but you’re not gonna live forever.
Ricky Bobby: Oh, I’m not stupid, Lucius. No one lives forever. No one. But with advances in modern science, and my high level of income, I mean, it’s not crazy to think I can’t live to be 245, maybe 300. Heck, I just read in the newspaper that they put a pig heart in some guy from Russia. Do you know what that means?
Lucius Washington: No, I don’t know what that means. I guess, uh, longer life.
Ricky Bobby: Well, no, he didn’t live.
Lucius Washington: Oh, he didn’t live?
Ricky Bobby: I mean, it’s just exciting that we’re tryin’ things like that.
So Iran hit a cargo ship with a drone in the Strait, and all Trump says is that “it was foolish”. I know there’s extreme pressure to get oil prices down and keep the Ds at bay, but all these acts by Iran without a strong response just makes Trump and the US look like patsies. I also understand that the Gulf states don’t want a return to military operations as they would be targeted. We just seem to be stuck in an infinite loop with no line of code that gives an escape.
We wondered talked about the damage that the psychopath currently drooling luridly in 10 Downing Street would still be able to cause during the two or so months remaining to his demented, crapulous rule.
Well, having been obviously impressed by “Biden”‘s unabashed criminal initiatives, he’s decided to pull one of his own:
“Outgoing UK PM Keir Starmer to Free Up to 6,000 Prisoners, Including Killers and Rapists, Early” https://instapundit.com/806370/
…And one MUST assume that there’s more coming down the pike.
File under: Scorched earth.
The indigenous folk must be suppressed. No. 10 Drowning.
Where has our progressive Brit twit gone? UK crickets (not sporting).
So much doom and gloom! Here’s a cheery article that will brighten everyone’s day:
Well. I hope the crow being served is good. Trump has struck back at Iran. I’ll now go prepare my crow dinner.
I just watched the raven fly by under attack by swallows and simultaneously an eagle flying by was under attack by crows. It’s like the Battle of Britain here today.
physicsguy:
We all have reasons to be anxious about Iran and Israel, 96 hours is a long time, and the panic whores never rest; they need clicks and views to keep their income stream.
Maybe just a feather, not the whole corvid.
physicsguy:
No harm, no foul. You are an honest, concerned fellow and the Iran War is complicated.
RE: The fraudsters who are wasting our time, increasing suspicion globally, and making our lives miserable–
This has now grown to be far more than just a simple and easily ignored “annoyance.”
I don’t know if my experience is the norm or not, but over the last couple of decades we have had fraudulent charges made on various of our credit cards for, among other things, some electronics bought in Paris (we’ve never been there), and for a bus ticket in Arkansas.
Then, there was the scammer who set up a cell phone account in my name, and one day, we received a bill written in Spanish.
He never paid the bill (from this bill, we even knew his supposed name and address in upstate New York, but no one ever did anything with this information, like having the police pay him an in person visit), the unpaid bill went to collections, and I started to get threatening letters from a collection agency.
This one took may hours worth of phone calls to the cell phone company, to the collection agency, filling out paperwork, work to restore my FICO score (his scam lowered it by 100 points), plus, a visit to the local police station to pick up and then deposit the paperwork.
After several weeks of work we thought things were fixed.
Then, a year later, the cell phone company sent the same overdue bills to a different collection agency, and we had to repeat the whole process of clearing things up all over again.
Calls we’ve received over the years–from people often speaking broken English–telling us that we have missed two court hearings, or that the IRS has opened some sort of case against us, and that we are about to be arrested, unless we immediately pay these fraudsters money today.
One Turkey added to the urgency I was supposed to feel, by telling me that two police cars were–at that very minute–on their way to my house to arrest me, unless I paid my supposed fine to the person on the phone immediately.
In addition, there are the scammers who call saying that they are from Microsoft Technical Support, have somehow become aware that my computer is infected with a virus, and want me to allow them access to my computer so they can fix the problem—all for a hefty fee, paid up front, I might add.
The increasing number of these various fraud attempts has become extremely annoying, and they are apparently so prevalent that our local town has just had to put out a one page guide warning of several current scams in our area—
Jury Duty & Bench Warrant scams
Traffic Ticket scams
Town Hall Agenda & Vendor scams
My experience is that the authorities treat these various scams as just an annoyance, and that they don’t try to run down and shut down these scammers or, if they happen to do so, I don’t see reports that they are being given substantial jail terms.
It seems to me that this whole scammer situation has now become a major impediment to the peaceful enjoyment of are lives, and should be taken much more seriously, laws rewritten to make them much more serious crimes than they are apparently viewed as being today, vigorously prosecuted, with extremely long jail sentences being imposed (and don’t bother with large fines, they either don’t have a “pot to piss in,” or have very carefully hidden their loot).
P.S. And the list above wouldn’t be complete without the time, out of the blue, I was overnighted two bogus Postal Money Orders totaling $2,500 dollars, to get me to participate in the phony “secret shopper” scam, and in none of these cases—when I reported them—were the authorities interested in following up and trying to identify and to try to catch these scammers.
Looking over all of these incidents, I’m wondering if I am somehow on some kind of “sucker list,” which has been passed around among various scammers.
P.S.S.–Very carefully handled the overnight envelope and phony Postal Money Orders, in case there might be some useful fingerprints on them, called up the supposedly crack U.S. Postal Inspection Service, explained the situation, and was told that they weren’t interested in any of it, and to just throw everything away.
Opposition politicians accuse Labour of prioritizing early release over expanding prison capacity. They argue that the government is allowing dangerous criminals back onto the streets because it failed to address overcrowding in Britain’s prisons.
…
Reform UK’s Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick condemned the policy, accusing Starmer of giving criminals a major advantage.
Jenrick called the move a “gift to hardened criminals” and argued that the government should instead address prison pressures through tougher measures, including deportation of foreign offenders.
“Offenders will be able to terrorize communities with impunity,” Jenrick told GB News, adding that “the only people benefiting from this Labour Government are criminals and illegal migrants.”
“Instead of offering huge sentence discounts to killers and rapists, Starmer should free up space in our prisons by deporting the 10,800 foreign offenders clogging up our jails. But he won’t, as he’s wedded to broken human rights laws and previously campaigned to keep foreign criminals in the UK.”
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood defended the reforms, telling Parliament that she understood the proposals “will not be welcomed by all,” but argued that action was necessary to prevent the prison system from reaching a crisis point.
They could also quit jailing native Britons for thought-crimes and self-defense, and for having air conditioners (see Neo’s post 6/27)

Well, that post was not exactly what I expected.
Lots of important things to consider, starting with updating my Zombie Apocalypse Emergency Storage plan.

Besides, crows are lovely, smart birds. Please don’t eat them. 🙂

@ Barry Meislin – the Instapundit post is referring to this one:

The most important section IMO is this one:
