  1. Sounds great, and I really hope it eases the burden on you of weeding out trolls.

  2. Unwillin’ Barkis is willin’ to use whichever comment system seems best.

  3. neo, thanks very much for doing this, and, for that matter, for doing all you’ve been doing for all these years now. YOU ROCK!

  4. Sheesh…you make one little tiny comment about ballet posts and boom!

  5. I agree with M J R You rock!!! And have for the many, many years I’ve been following

  6. neo, am I considered an “old, established” commenter? On my behalf I will point out that

I am old (will turn 75 1/2 a week from today)

I have always believed in antidisestablihmentarianism

  7. I’m not sure how often I spell my email correctly. I’ll spell it correctly here.

  8. That sounds like it would be a good solution. I don’t comment here as much as I did many years ago, but it’s always good to still have the option available.

  9. More work for you, at least during the “introductory period,” but less in the long run and very much less than having to constantly moderate comments. And much easier on us than Discus.

    Thanks.

  10. “No Scotland No Party! No Scotland No Party!”

When I worked in Maracaibo, Venezuela, I shared a staff house with two Scotsmen. They and their Scottish/Northern England friends were prodigious drinkers on their weeks off the rig. But dry when working.

Decades later, our grad school class gave presentations during for the final exam. The Dean of the school, who was from Scotland, attended. I pointed out to the Dean that I had worked in the oil field in Venezuelan with some Scotsmen.

    “Bunch of drunks, weren’t they.”

Which meant that I wasn’t very surprised to find out that Scotsmen in Boston for the World Cup had drunk a bar entirely out of beer.

  11. Karmi:

I liberated your comment from quarantine in order to answer you.

    First, Happy Birthday!

Second, the answer is “maybe.” I would need to take some time to review the history.

  12. Karmi is on double secret probation!
    And Happy Birthday!

@ Gringo > “Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son.”

For the record, I have never seen “Animal House,” but I sure seem to know a lot of the catchphrases. That’s the culture that politics is downstream of.

  13. Re: “Animal House” — double secret probation

Jen Murray, reaction vlogger, is going the full “Futurama.” Here’s her reaction to the “Futurama” parody of “Animal House” titled “Mars University.”

Quite fun, even if you haven’t seen “Animal House” or “Futurama.”
