Wondrous science: analyzing a Neanderthal fetus — 4 Comments

  1. Sennacherib:

So that’s what those gauge plugs in eas lobes are for!

Beats bar code or QR code tatoos on the forehead.

But then again the very early stage Antifa (National Socialist SS) used number tatoos on the arm. How primitive. (sarc sort of)

  2. somewhat related are these two items I read or started reading recently, addressing the development of humanity vs. animals:

    1) https://josephheath.substack.com/p/harari-vs-henrich
Harari vs. Henrich: What science actually says about human evolution
by Joseph Heath Jun 12, 2026
from my notes: “this relatively short comparative review of two books on human evolution.
Each proposes an opposite or reverse sequence in the development or evolution of the 4 main traits claimed to be what makes us human and qualitatively and quantitatively different from the other animals…”

    2) Becoming Human: A Theory of Ontogeny [2019] by Michael Tomasello [2019]
[ basically a collection and overview from his prior books on human communication, cognition, morality, and the latest one on agency.]

Depending on if and/or when the Neanderthal species broke off from some common earlier hominid one, and where our branch broke off in parallel or separate from that line, we can expect a set complicated developmental contributions in a number of areas important to the ultimate success of homo sapiens.
