Mr. Raskin also has other ideas to bring the High Court low. He recently introduced a bill that would deny the Justices the power to choose which cases they hear. Under the SCCOTUS Act, petitions would be reviewed by a rotating committee of 13 random appellate judges. This is such a radical change that it’s hard to imagine all the implications.
In my daily run-through of favorite sites, which, incidentally, includes this one, I go to babylonbee (fake news) then notthebee (real but often quirky news).
So yesterday I came across the following post. I had forgotten I had navigated to notthebee and assumed I was still looking at the Bee – it is that bizarre, to me, at least.
Well, Iran has cut off negotiations over Israel invading Lebanon. Yet, just another delaying tactic. How much more does Trump need to see they aren’t serious and put Hesgeth back to work?
This was NOT the South. – Daniel from High of 94 F in Texas
Actually, they’re very serious…and Trump knows it.
(But they’re serious about things that have nothing to do with making artful deals…which Trump also knows….)
Trump said he can wait. Lots of times.
Such that the Mullahs might just get the end-of-days they seem to be praying so fervently for…though not exactly the end-of-days they would prefer to get…
FWIW—more smoke?
“Report: Lebanese Speaker told US Hezbollah ready for immediate ceasefire;
“Lebanese speaker says Hezbollah would fully commit to a comprehensive truce as Israel warns of possible strikes in Beirut.”— https://www.israelnationalnews.com/news/427956
Timmy the twelfth isn’t coming out of that well Lassie.
From Barry’s link above:
Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has informed the Trump administration that Hezbollah is prepared to enter a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire with Israel and is willing to ensure the agreement is upheld, the speaker’s adviser, Ali Hamdan, told Axios.
This, as always heretofore and continuing without end so far as I can see (with the explicit support of the D.of State, its ambassadors, et al on the US side), is not the issue. Never has been the issue. Never will be the issue.
The issue, if I may be so bold, is the existence of the terrorist arm of the IRGC, Hezbollah, as sovereign over the pseudo-State “Lebanon”.
Ending Hezbollah is the issue, not making absurd “agreements” with it, whether in its own name or in the name of its puppet mouthpiece “Lebanon” through a parliament speaker, a President, a Prime Minister or what have you. That’s all just eyewash for the status quo ante, or, simply put, more Hezbollah.
Thanks for the video, Neo; that was great! I also enjoyed the movie it’s from, Carousel.
I love the music of “Carousel,” but have never seen a stage production and am not sure I ever watched the movie. I will need to correct that deficiency asap!
The men’s challenge dance reminds me of the Moiseyev Dance Company, which Neo links clips to quite often. The entrance of the Sailors also reminded me of Popeye, because of their characteristic arm position and swagger.
Continues is right. Status quo ante, same as it ever was. Not a new thing about it. Result? More Hezbollah. More dead Israelis, be they IDF or civilians, they’ll all be just as dead.
Ending Hezbollah is the issue, not making absurd “agreements” with it…
Yes, exactly.
My parents were big musicals fans, and ‘Carousel’ on the record rotation was second only to ‘Oklahoma’
The Guilt That Isn’t…and the empathy that is really something much darker
After de beeper gate you would think whoever is left of hezbollah leadership would tread more carefully
Trump is conducting a siege of Iran. It matters not in the slightest how negotiations go as long as the Iranians end up boiling their shoe leather for a meal. It is an entirely different timeframe from the ‘bounce the rubble and boots on the ground’ approach.
By the way, get ready for the starving children framing to criticize it all.
I stand corrected on that point
That may have been how the persian war with britain was conducted
ambisinistral, that can be done without constraining Israel with regards to Hezbollah.
Carousel has beautiful music in an American idiom that can stand its own against Ives, Copland, and Bernstein.
But i cringe at the simplistic, neutered, sentimental version of God and Heaven at the end, which has not aged well.
Brit cop slapping the cuffs on the purported stabbing victim: Let me tell you your rights, mate — you’ve got the right to be presumed to be a vile racist; you’ve got the right to lay here and bleed out from your nonexistent stab wounds.
David Foster, I enjoyed your new post. It’s striking how relevant C. S. Lewis’ writings are still.
I second Selfy’s post. That was wonderful David Foster. Sent it to my son and told him it’s a must read.
Amazon came here twice today. I don’t even live in Hooterville. Two miles east of Hooterville is a crossroad named East Hooterville. For some reason E Hooterville gets their own US Weather Service forecast, unbelievably enough. I am south of E Hooterville and Amazon came twice. The second time to deliver $12 worth of irrigation system parts that I ordered yesterday. I am flabbergasted.
One of my earliest musical memories was the original Broadway cast recording of Carousel that my parents owned along with South Pacific, My Fair Lady etc. The male lead was John Raitt, Bonnie Raitt’s father.
@physicsguy: How much more does Trump need to see they aren’t serious and put Hesgeth back to work?
I’m sure Trump sees the Iranians clearly. He may overestimate his options, but he knows who the Iranians are and how deceitfully they play.
My current thinking is that Trump is playing the Iranians, lulling them into a false sense of security, before he brings the hammer down again, when he deems the time is right.
Barring an unlikely Iranian capitulation, I believe Trump will attack in the near future. I’m not sure of the exact timing nor the concerns involved.
I will never look at the month of June quite the same after watching that video.
Never a dull moment in this global insane asylum with a dozen branches spread around judiciously…
Leaking (false) details of presidential phone calls with foreign leaders is normalized now, is it? This Trump guy is some kind of special to get this treatment again. Back to another Barak Ravid story we see. Funny. Wonder who his sources are? Anyhow, it looks sometimes like every story Ravid runs is designed to damage Bibi Netanyhu’s electoral prospects, which hey, bonus, right Barak?

Just imagine what a present day remake of this movie would be like. We have lost a lot in America
Saw the stage version of the musical , Carousel, at a nearby college some time ago.
It really is a great show, great music with an interesting plot.
About 5 years ago or so, Carousel was performed live at Lincoln Center with a very impressive cast. Unfortunately I was unable to go see it in NYC.
