Roundup
(1) Could Spencer Pratt become mayor of LA? Conventional wisdom says “no,” but there’s nothing conventional about Pratt. If he motivates turnout among LA voters unhappy with Democrat rule, I think there’s a remote possibility he could win.
Meantime, is this anti-Pratt ad for real? There’s a lot of online discussion about that. It’s hard to believe it is real, because it’s so tone-deaf:
? NOW: Leftists are being brutally mocked for DROPPING THIS “attack ad” on LA Mayor candidate Spencer Pratt — which says he opposes rampant homelessness and supports the police
LMAO — and they’re spending hundreds of thousands to blast this everywhere! ?

It was apparently released by the LA County Federation of Labor.
(2) Virginia Democrats floated a plan to retire all the Virginia Supreme Court justices by passing a special bill with a new retirement age of 53, retroactive. This has been nixed; among other things, they ran out of time. But even thinking of it for a single moment shows what Democrats are prepared to do if they ever get control of the federal government again. I’ve written about that many times – getting rid of safeguards of voting security, statehood for Puerto Rico and DC (the latter through various arcane machinations), open borders again, amnesty – in order to solidify their own power.
(3) Keir Starmer says he isn’t going anywhere, and in fact plans to stay for ten years if possible. Guy can’t take a hint, like a stalker:
Keir Starmer has said he wants a decade in Downing Street and will fight anyone who challenges him for the Labour leadership.
The prime minister described his government as a “10-year project of renewal”. Asked whether he would definitely lead his party into the next general election and serve a full second term, he said: “Yes, I will.”
(4) More grift by NGOs.
(5) Terrible airplane death – a man trespasses onto the tarmac into the path of a flight in the process of landing. Fortunately, no one on the airplane died.

That’s a good link from Ace on the Virginia mess. I found one also at Hot Air, where Ed Morrissey summarizes much of the same material, calling the wild Dem plan “schizo hopium.” There is no time to do this. The VA primary is August 1, with early voting beginning in mid-June under their crazy 45-day early voting regimen. With a voting system under renovation but currently old and creaky, there is just no way to get all the precincts reassigned to a new map and ballots ready to go in four weeks. Plus some Dem operative pointed out that removing all the Justices would involve canning the Chief Justice, the first-ever black woman in the position. Oops.

And on the anti-Pratt ad in your post, Neo, yes, it’s hard to believe the unions thought this would persuade people not to vote for Pratt.
I assume the guy on the tarmac was some sort of suicide?
You can’t shame people who have no shame.
What we have in this country—and, apparently, the West in general, is a shame deficit.
A case in point, fake black woman Rachel Dolezal–who now goes by the name Nkichi Diallo–has announced that she is now trying to set herself up as a “sex coach” on a new “OnlyFans” account.*
* See https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2026/05/infamous-race-faker-rachel-dolezal-back-news-new/
Given that it’s LA, the anti Pratt ad is probably quite effective.
(1) Unhoused neighbors? If they are unhoused, then they are not neighbors.
(4) I hope some group get some traction with reining in the NGO mess.
“(5) Terrible airplane death – a man trespasses onto the tarmac into the path of a flight in the process of landing. Fortunately, no one on the airplane died.”
Well, one less Democrat to worry about.
5, Could have been a huge tragedy. Plane not at Vr. Loss of an engine at Vr could have rolled the plane with little opportunity to correct.
The video seems to show the guy stopping and lining himself up with the right engine. Total nut job? Druggie? Mental retardation? Suicidal terrorist?
I would think a missing person report would lead to an ID.
Neo, the plane was taking off, not landing.
Suicide by plane or terrorist seem to be the most likely motives. I’m not sure what remains there are which could be tested for DNA. Horrible.
A tone deaf ad indeed, one that only the willfully blind will find convincing.
If they ever get control of the federal government again, what the Democrats are prepared to do would prove to be their final undoing. In their delusional fanaticism, they imagine that they can cut down “all the laws” and still survive the hurricane force winds that would blow across the country.
Labor party candidates, even in their century long strongholds like Manchester, were pilloried in the recent local elections. Kier Starmer simply can’t face up to the ‘writing on the wall’. Fortunately, his denial of political realities ensures that he’ll continue to drag labor further down into the political abyss.
Hopefully, evidence will someday emerge that he suppressed prosecution of the Muslim rape gangs and their sexual enslavement of thousands of white English girls. Life imprisonment should ultimately be his fate. He is truly an execrable excuse for a human being.
Maybe I missed something in my various civics and government classes back in the prehistoric times…but I was sure ex post facto laws were illegal…?
So the retroactive retirement age seems on it face out of bounds
And I am struggling to believe any union would say, “Don’t elect the guy who might give us more members.” It may be their members are leaning Pratt…and this is a token effort…what do I really know about campaigns? After all, the Ds ran with Kamala.
Geoffrey Britain, watch Amelia Bond 2 on you tube. She saves the cat!
IIRC the force of the air into the turbofan would be quite adequate to entrain him and lift him into the fan.
Sad, as all suicides are. RIP
Take a look at the website referenced at the end of the Pratt video:
https://republicanpratt.com/
It contains links to various articles. The headlines on the site strike me as either positive toward Pratt (unless the site editor is trying to be ironic??) or neutral.
My understanding is the union buying the Pratt ad is actually backing Bass.
IMO what they are really trying to avoid is the situation NY found themselves in back in 2025. Bass must be nearly as radioactive as Cuomo was. In a blue hell hole it’s not good to bet on a Democrat machine pol beating a Commie theater kid. The voters might prefer the out and proud Commie to the one on the downlow so it’s better if Bass runs against the self-identified Republican.
If unions want to help homeless, give them union jobs and they will be able to afford housing. Duh.
“Union jobs for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities often involve structured, hands-on tasks that allow for consistent routines and on-the-job training. Unions provide critical benefits, including health insurance, job security, and advocacy for necessary workplace accommodations.”
@ (4) More grift by NGOs.
The tweet in the Instapundit post at Neo’s link references a tweet by DataRepublican (chasing down sources is becoming something of a pain).
However, the graphic map DR posted is fascinating, like watching a boiling cauldron of Magic Graft Potion being made.

DatarRepublican is a national treasure.
In re Spencer Pratt’s eventual opponent on the Democratic side, I bump this comment, referencing another round-up post:
Neo – “(1) I believe that Democrats wanted Platner as the Maine senatorial candidate rather than Mills.” :

AF, sounds right.
The Party of criminals and liars is actually a uber-corrupt—in all senses—Politburo.
Makes sense to me….
– – – – – –
As for Comrade Starmer, he has a country—AN EMPIRE—to destroy. (One of history’s greatest.)
So he ain’t goin’ nowhere. (Unless he gets defenestrated…from, say, Big Ben…)
“UK Labour in turmoil: Cabinet ministers urge Starmer to set timetable for departure;
“PM Keir Starmer faces a massive Labour revolt as 70 MPs and senior ministers demand his resignation.”—

Wonder, though, if it’s occurred to anyone that should Starmer be nudged (pushed? shoved?) his successor, though it’s hard to believe, might prove to be even worse…
WRT the Lebanese government (so-called) it’s becoming clear that its President Aoun is playing “good cop” to Hezbullah’s terrorist thugs…
(As might have been expected)…
“Lebanese President urges US to halt Israeli operations ahead of Washington talks;
“President Joseph Aoun urges US to pressure Israel as Lebanon prepares for direct talks in Washington later this week.”—

As for “Back to the Future”(TM)…
“Israel helped Egypt arm the Sinai. Now those guns are pointed the wrong way;
“What should alarm anyone who remembers the years before October 7 is not that the buildup is happening. It is how Israel is processing it.”—

(With Turkey’s neo-Ottoman ambitions lurking ominously in the immediate background…)
Speaking of “uber-corrupt Politburo”…this rather gruesome tidbit totally reflects Obama’s M.O…

Ratzinger lives…
IMHO, that “attack ad” fairly represented Pratt’s views. As such, it might be viewed as an ad FOR Pratt.
I’m seeing a whole bunch of chatter this am about a NYT opinion piece by Nicholas Kristof that repeats virulently anti-Israeli Hamas propaganda (is that a surprise?), apparently to provide talking points to blunt an exhaustive report on the sexual atrocities committed during and after the Oct 7 assault on Israel that was just published.

False flags do happen. So do tone deaf ads.
Remember this ad from 2024?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLzYPbtklGs
When I first saw that one, I just assumed it had to be either a spoof or a right-wing false flag. I mean it couldn’t possibly be for real, could it?
“I eat carburetors for breakfast!”
As it happens, it was real. It was really intended to help Harris. It’s just that the people making it had no Earthly idea what motivated her opponents or how to appeal to them.
Is this one real? The labor organizations it names are real. If this is a false flag from Pratt, it’s a foolish one, because it would open him up to fraud allegations from those groups. So my hunch is that it’s for real.
Is it well-targeted? I’m not sure. It might actually play well to upper-middle-class and upper class white liberals, but it might go too far, too. I’m not sure how well it would play with working class voters.
Yep and that Harris/Waltz ad pushed the Cackler and Timmy on to win the election.
Man enough to lose, and remain unemployable actors.
@ Barry Meislin > “…The Shadow Cabinet of Soros. Inside the Soros-Funded Nonprofit That Hand-Picked Biden’s National Security Team, Then Pretended to Dissolve.”
There must be a preference vortex or something going on.
I was coming over to post this new article by DataRepublican, having earlier referenced both her own works, and the observation that a cabal of insiders is actually running the governments “headed” by Democrats, and found you had beat me to it via Instapundit.
https://datarepublican.substack.com/p/the-shadow-cabinet-of-soros
I have to draw maps and lists to follow her points, but she pretty much proves that all those people saying Biden Inc was run by Obama’s people were totally correct, and even more so.
And it’s very likely all legal, but I would love to see Trump’s DOJ find a thread that is over the line and start pulling on it.
Soros has probably paid some very expensive and competent Democrat lawyers quite generously to maintain the barest but adequate veneer of legality.
The FJB and BHO juntas weren’t too concerned about such trivialities. For the greater good.
What really intrigues me is the opening paragraph by DataRepublican:
“On January 30, 2017 — ten days into the Trump presidency — Rosa Brooks published an article in Foreign Policy titled “3 Ways to Get Rid of President Trump Before 2020.” She outlined four scenarios for removing the new president from office: impeachment, the 25th Amendment, cabinet revolt, and a military coup.”
DataRepublican links the original Foreign Policy post, which is paywalled against me. Here is a different route:
https://netadvisor.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/2017-01-30-3-Ways-to-Get-Rid-of-President-Trump-Before-2020.pdf
Brooks: “Thus the question: Are we truly stuck with Donald Trump?
It depends. There are essentially four ways to get rid of a crummy president”
The Democrats, through Brooks, did outline four scenarios, but not the ones DR listed: (seriously though, who did the counting for that headline? — I suspect #1 was overlooked).
So the Democrats even TOLD us what they were going to do (IOW, primed their followers to support them), then spent millions of dollars and billions of person-hours on at least 2 of the “ways” Brooks recommended.
1. Wait out his first year and elect someone else. (would have been the smart move)
2. Impeachment. (they tried, and failed, twice)
3. 25th Amendment. (couldn’t really get that going; it involves a Cabinet revolt, and that wasn’t going to happen)
4. Military Coup. (they had some willing general staff officers for that one)
The Democrats tried again in 2025 with the Seditious Six: DataRepublican: “One of those six lawmakers was Rep. Maggie Goodlander of New Hampshire. She is married to Jake Sullivan.”
I think there were at least 2 other ways.
5. Russia collusion charges.
The fifth scenario, which Brooks did NOT mention in her post, was already rolling, having been given the green-light by Obama on his way out the door: poison American voters’ minds with a fake narrative.
Note, again, the names in DR’s post: the same people were all over the place.
They actually succeeded with this one, as there were people who believed it (and still do). They didn’t force Trump out before the end of his term, but they stymied his policies and harassed his administration, and prepared the ground for Biden’s “election win” by being able to continually yell “collusion!” during the campaign.
Apparently the “sixth scenario” was only added in 2024; or only became operational then, when it was clear that Trump was going to beat Harris.
If Rosa Brooks were writing her post today, odds are good it would make her list, since her compatriots are not shy about naming it.
6. Trump 3, Democrats 0 — so far.
