Robert Mueller dead at 81 — 12 Comments

  1. Trump was graceless about it.

I have a suspicion that a fair audit of Mueller’s career would not do his reputation good.

An interesting question is why his wife and others did not intervene and insist he not take the position of special counsel and that Rosenstein withdraw the offer. He was so gaga when he testified in front of Congress that he required a minder next to him and did not recognize the name of Fusion GPS. Either he deteriorated very rapidly in 2017-19 or he was too far gone to begin with to function in office employment.

  2. Pre-figuring “Biden”.
Seems to be a Soviet-style pattern here.

(And one might want to include the more recent Mullahs-in-Chief…)

  3. it does seem that way, doesn’t it,

with weissman and other slithy toves doing the dirty work

fusion gps/orbis seem to be the vector for a maskirovan, that steele fronted for,
the protege of Fiona Hill, very lightly noted, much like the Zinoviev telegram

  4. Art Deco, why should Trump be nice. Any Rep of stature that dies will be celebrated with great vigor. Agree, Kate and bill

  5. ArtDeco,
With what happened, it’s not a surprise Trump acted the way he did.
    Neo,
You are right about him, the ones behind all
    Of this will be surprising.

Aside from any moral or courtesy issues, this sort of thing makes Trump look bad to the kind of person who sympathizes with our side but is squishy and hates conflict. Maybe that shouldn’t matter, but it does. Comments like this, or like his comments about Reiner after being horribly murdered, weaken Trump and MAGA and the GOP politically.

It’s not necessarily politically fatal, and overall I like Trump’s combativeness compared to the Bush/Romney/etc. style. Trump’s bluntness and combativeness is mostly an asset. But when he takes it too far it hurts him and us.

Also, it doesn’t have to drive a voter over to the Dems to be disastrous. All it has to do is cause some squishy right-sympathizer to throw up her (it’s usually but by no means always a her) hands in disgust and just stay home. That alone can wreck us on E-day.

Likewise, comments about how we hope someone goes to Hell are not only questionable in themselves, but they too can alienate a certain kind of devout voter. Again, just staying home is enough to kill us on E-day.

Do I blame Trump for being angry about RussiaHoax? Of course not. But politics is politics and I don’t want to see the people who hate us, and America, back in power, either.

  7. Likability addiction is a plague upon the body politic. Ever since Wokery went mainstream, can anyone believe that agreeability is not the Handmaiden of SJW Hell?

Screw “likeability.” We used to know to judge a man by His actions, not blatherings.

If likeability and agreeable word selling mattered most, wouldn’t Boris Johnson still be PM of the UK?
