Trump’s approval — 6 Comments

  1. I never believe polls. However, I can not really believe that he is “under water”. With the Dems, yes. With all the very good economic news, you would think that his numbers would be better, but the MSM is all negative on the economy.

  2. The reaction of some is quite a bit worse, disgusting in fact, to the point of being truly insane…but then one must remember that they’re activist journalists ideologues—rabid, hate-dripping, hysteria-driven extremists—something that Weiss had better understand. And quickly.

  3. My devout Catholic BiL who regulatory posts about God’s love etc, also has an extreme case of TDS. The irony is lost on him. Two days ago he reposted a story about some actress standing up to Trump and putting him in his place. Several people pointed out to him that it was false and AI generated. He didn’t apologize for his credulity, but then just said, it may be false but it should have happened.

My sampling, though not statistical in any sense, would lead me to believe that up to 90+% of registered Democrats hate Trump; 25% approval seems way too high.

  4. It’s the economy, stupid. Very true today. Trump needs to talk to some average people about how they see things.

Yes, energy and some food commodities are down. But many prices are sticky. Home insurance, car insurance, property taxes, credit card rates, mortgage rates, etc. Those things take time to get under control. When you outgo is greater than your income, every month seems like a disaster.

Trump needs to admit that price increases have only slowed and that it will take more time for incomes to catch up. Those who voted for Trump for economic change need to hear the truth, not bragging about how low inflation is or how much eggs have fallen in price.

He also needs to do a national address about his War on Drugs. Several lies and insinuations that the Dems and MSM are pitting out there need to be laid to rest.

With the present situation, Trump and the GOP cannot believe polls or take anything for granted. They need to deliver and tell the truth at every turn.

  5. Anyone who is concerned with civil peace and the probity of public institutions is revolted by the Democratic Party. The problem is that people concerned with such matters are a minority.

  6. physicsguy, I can think of any number of things that might account for that reading. People in heavily blue areas with restricted primaries could be registered Democrat to have vote in primaries, as well as people just not bothering to change a previous partisan registration. Plenty of people are likely culturally a member of one party rather than a member from a political conviction.

I did a bit of googling and while 25% out of Democrats is high, it’s far from the highest cross-party approval. Obama had an over 40% approval rating from registered Republicans early in his tenure. Bill Clinton also got high marks from GOP voters, and even W had a similar approval from Democrats (likely after 9/11).

Trump 45 actually did better among Democrats, by a fraction, than Biden did among Republicans thought neither of them had approvals much over 5%. Trump’s personal approval rating averaged around 15% among Democrats, however.
