  1. You have to love the WSJ. While most newspapers are ignoring or mocking Rubio’s sanctioning of an ICC official, here’s the WSJ saying it doesn’t go far enough and the US should bring a bigger hammer down on the ICC

  2. Trump is having a press conference with the major drug companies. A new website was announced https://trumprx.gov/ to help you find the best price for a drug. The website was named by the HHS,not by Trump, but it is a dig at Obamacare high costs.

The companies have all agreed to offer the most favored nation drug prices instead of the highest price in the world.

The drug companies are announcing investments for building new manufacturing in America as well as offering certain drugs free or at deeper discounts.

One company has a new drug for HIV (twice a year dosage) and is also working with Rubio at State to offer the drug to African nations. Another company will give one of their drugs free to Medicaid.

Trump is also calling a meeting of the major insurance companies to get them to reduce their premiums.

  3. Governor gimp of Georgia and his his useless malevolent Rafensberger.

But wait there’s more, Marginal Traitor Greed.

  4. This is probably of interest here only to me — and possibly om — but Europe has stepped up to secure funding for Ukraine for the next two years. In case anyone is interested, Anders Puck Nielsen talks about it here.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiTNUZ2zONY

He also talks about Europe stepping up into a great power role and how the United States and Russia are both probably going to regret making that happen.

    Anyway, FYI.

  5. Turtler:

Yes, I wrote about that yesterday in the roundup thread. It really is extraordinary what comes out when it’s too late to do anything about it – all the supposed “fake news” that turns out to have been substantially true.

  6. mkent, Europe definitely needs to step up to defend its edges, i.e., Ukraine and the Baltic states. Russia may very well regret what it set in motion when it invaded Ukraine.

  7. mkent:

Yes the EU loan to Ukraine was covered pretty well in today’s Ukraine The Latest podcast. Belgium is still the weak kneed wuss when it comes to giving frozen Russian assets ($$$$ !!!) to Ukraine.

My biggest concern about President Trump is the cluelessness of Steve Wittkoff (SIC ?) regarding Putin and Russia.

  8. HERE is Russia’s Christmas + Holiday gift to the world:

    Warning- some vulgar language follows:

If you read news of Europe, and news related to [the war in Ukraine]:

In essence: in a December 2025, press meeting- Russia’s President Putin has said: [Russia wants the West to respect Russia. If the West respects Russia, then Russia won’t start any more wars in Europe].

[By the West, I think he means- The Western nations, Western Europe, + maybe the US.]

So that means, in my opinion, Putin is partly saying:

If the World kisses Russia’s butt, and does what Russia wants, then Russia won’t attack the nations of the World.

Gosh, THAT sounds reasonable plan, + like a President who- cooperates with other nations, respects their rights, and sees them as equals. No. not at all.

Whether or not Putin’s speech is part of a plan, for [Putin + Russia to control how the US, + the Western European nations act, in Europe], I do not know.

I think that Putin thinks he has the leverage over Ukraine, + over everyone, in the war in Ukraine, + that this speech is maybe a plan- for him + Russia, to end the war HIS way, + maybe to get the WEST, and NATO, and the rest of the world, to do what HE wants, in Europe.

From the news I’ve read about Russia: Russia is planning a BIG military buildup, in Europe, + Russia might be ready to go to war, against [many or all] of Western Europe’s nations, in a few years. Maybe that is about 10 years.

In my opinion- Russia [does not] want to go to war with another European nation, or [a number of European nations], since it can’t [defeat, or take over much of Ukraine], in the current, 2025, war in Ukraine.

    But,

I think that Russia might be doing a plan of: [If we/Russia MAKE a military buildup, likely a regular military buildup…and a nuclear-weapons military buildup], then- we can 1] threaten Europe into doing what we want it to do, and 2] then we can have [the military + political power], that we want in Europe, by THREATENING Europe into being our whipped…subservient puppy, just like China controls Taiwan…through military and political threats.

    What a horrible situation.

I hope that Europe, and The USA, and the rest of the world- will [stand together], and stop this intimidation from Russia, and this useless power play from Russia, or else Europe + the NATO nations, will live under a constant threat: of attack, or maybe a threat of complete nuclear destruction, the way Europe and NATO did, during the Cold War.

[For what it’s worth- I had talked to a friend whom I think is wise about Russia, + the history of foreign nations.

He pretty much believes that: Russia, + Russia under USSR, were [never] a free nation.

He says: The Russian governments, even under the Czars/kings, were always run by dictators + people who ruled by threats and oppressive force.

    Russia was never free.

And by extension- under these governments + Kingdoms run by dictators- the Russian people have never been free.

I’m not surprised that President Putin, and Russia’s Government, have given us this “Christmas surprise”, while the war in Ukraine is going tough for Russia, in the war.

I wish that someday, that Putin, and his tyranny-government, and that all tyranny-governments, [will be removed from power, completely].

I wish that all people will be made free.

  9. ”My biggest concern about President Trump is the cluelessness of Steve Wittkoff (SIC ?) regarding Putin and Russia.”

Yeah, I keep oscillating between “He can’t be that stupid. He must be on Russia’s side.” and “OMG! Maybe he really is that stupid.”
