The beleaguered and persecuted heroes of CBS — 11 Comments

  1. OK, from the end of 2019 to the beginning of 2025, how many stories did the ‘journalsts’ of C-BS file about Biden’s obvious impairment and the implications for policy-making?

  2. How small is the violin for stahl and pelley? Can be observed with tweezers

They have done so heavy lifting for dems and pinning black hats on republicans that they shoulf have a hernia

At least going back to richard clarke* in 2002 as a benchmark

*clarke with the brave whistleblower see paul o’neil

  3. I couldn’t find a link for it, but I recall that a decade-15 years back, a famous journalist was being interviewed for jury duty. She made a comment to the effect that journalists were objective, were truth-seekers and/or truth-tellers. The room of prospective jurors broke out in laughter.

The journalist said that was one of her most humiliating experiences.

  4. A teacher asked his students to share what their dads do for a living;

Little Johnny said, “My dad’s a stripper at a gay club and he turns tricks in the alley to earn extra money.”

After class, teacher pulled him aside and asked,
“Johnny, is your dad really a stripper at a gay club?”

    Little Johnny replied

“No, he’s a reporter for CNN, but I was too embarrassed to say that.”

  5. My favorite quote from Joan Didion, also a journalist:
    ______________________

One last thing to remember: writers are always selling someone out.

–Joan Didion, “Slouching Towards Bethlehem” (1968)
    ______________________

I just read through many of her essays. Didion holds up.

  6. Joan Didion could be called an anti-journalist. Yes, she was there to get her stories and get paid, but for her the 60s became a personal crisis in which her faith that there was a “story,” a coherent objective narrative, collapsed.
    ________________________________

We tell ourselves stories in order to live… We look for the sermon in the suicide, for the social or moral lesson in the murder of five. We interpret what we see, select the most workable of the multiple choices. We live entirely, especially if we are writers, by the imposition of a narrative line upon disparate images, by the “ideas” with which we have learned to freeze the shifting phantasmagoria which is our actual experience.

–Joan Didion, “The White Album” (1979)
    ________________________________

Didion attempted a scrupulous, acidic honesty, even in regard to herself. She would have no patience with today’s so-called journalists.

  7. “ABC Fires Senior White House Correspondent Terry Moran

“Following the suspension for vile public statements about President Trump and Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, ABC has now decided to fire Senior White House Correspondent Terry Moran.

“‘At ABC News, we hold all of our reporters to the highest standards of objectivity, fairness and professionalism, and we remain committed to delivering straightforward, trusted journalism,” the ABC spokesperson adds.'”
    (Not a joke.)

  8. Don’t you know that these journalists spend four years in college to learn how to lie with plausible deniability? I’m impressed. (not) When I was in college, we used to refer to Huntley and Brinkley as hunkley and Bunkley and ridicule them. I was working in Brazil on a government contract and had gone into Sao Paulo one weekend and later was asked if I saw the riots. I hadn’t seen any riots, but my friend had a copy of Time or Newsweek with a story and pictures about the riots, I borrowed it and asked a friend if he knew where the pictures were from and he said they were from the riots in Argentina about two years ago. Journalists just make things up.
